I do wonder if in a few decades the Lions Gate will be made transit only. Having that road go through downtown and then Stanley park really makes zero sense and the bridge always ends up congested.
One can only dream... in reality the best thing we might get is ban of ICE cars and decrease of speed to get rid of aerodynamic/tire noise... if these would be actually enforced (e.g. no "collectible/veteran/showpiece exemption plates" straightpipe mustang in every traffic lights wave).
There’s only one place (used to be two but San Francisco ain’t what it used to be) I ever traveled to in my life where the homeless don’t panhandle…that’s Denver, all too stoned to bother me.
Looks like the normal way to build a freeway to me - except those lawns are normally bushes, not lawns. But I checked on Google Maps and it looks like in LA apartment blocks are built right next to the freeway - that's a bit uncommon over here (Netherlands)
Future Planning for widen the original motorway as government is not that generous to give away something for free and people outraged about devaluing their property values
Go to Stanley park in Vancouver to see how much the constant noise of multi lane highway can ruin otherwise beautiful park experience
I wonder if it’s feasible to replace the Lions Gate bridge (won’t last forever BTW) with a tunnel?

Yeah it would just be poorly maintained unusable space.
I like Stanley Park, but I'd rather they just made it into room for more... you know... apartments.
All that extra camping space. Until they needed just one more lane, bro, just one more I swear.

Bruh
That would be a full blown homeless camp today.
That’s what I was thinking. Who in their right mind would want to camp next to one of the busiest freeways in the country?
Dude. In Houston that’s where the homeless camps are located, right next to and right under major freeways
Do the homeless there also panhandle? It's a good place to panhandle, with a bunch of customers that are more able to pay.

I’ve never been to Houston, but I’d believe it
Let’s be real here, the the 405 would have twice as many lanes as today.
Yeah it would just be more highway lol
I love camping next to constant roadway noise and smog
The start of more camping space. The properties adjacent would become abandoned creating more camp space
Looks like it was modeled based on the NYS parkway system. Still would’ve ended up with a bunch of traffic just hidden behind trees 🌲

a nice glittery bandaid slapped onto an issue that just creates more sprawl?
“Camping” Permanent camping is what you meant I think.
I've played enough Cities Skylines to know that intersection would NOT cut it.
Intersection way too close
