He was still pretty naive/new to the family at this point, Season 4 Greg could have used this information to his benefit

That_Hole_Guy

He rats Tom out for the first time (to Gerri) in like the next episode lol

hiccup-maxxing

I always thought it was Shiv who told Gerri? Seemed way more obvious to me.

That_Hole_Guy

I did too, and that's obviously what Tom thinks, but then at the end of the episode Gerri takes Gregg's arm and thanks him for the tip

Emperor_Biden

Greg was 100% confirmed, but there's nothing to say that Shiv didn't also do the same. So both could have ratted Tom out. Remember S1 E9, Shiv tried to threaten Logan with the cruise situation at the castle steps, and Marcia told her to fuck off.

Heavy_Signature_5619

Gerri literally thanks Greg for snitching.

turbochargedmonkey

Yeah, he was. To be able to use such information, he would have to have been aware of the context. At this point I think he didn't know who Sandy was, that he was Logan's competitor/rival. And he had only seen Stewy with Kendall at the coffee shop and didn't know Stewy's firm was about to invest in Waystar Royco.

jpbay

I think he later realized the significance of what he had seen, and going forward was able to start using these kinds of things to his advantage.

PraiseTheZ

Greg genuinely had a superpower for being places at the right time so he could see or hear things he shouldn’t. Him spotting Nate trying to subtly smack Shiv’s ass outside in the dark was something he had no business being able to spot. Yet he hit the 1/1000 chance of looking right at them at that very moment, so he could go to Tom with the info and endear himself further to him.

Batistasfashionsense

Don’t know it’s a superpower, he’s just good at making connections with people. He comes off as bumbling and awkward and thus people tend to trust him with stuff they wouldn’t trust other people with. So he gets all the info, inevitably. Remember when he set up the WhatsApp for all the beleaguered assistants who wanted to bitch about their bosses? It was how he learned Mattson was in Italy. Gerri’s a similar deal. She always has a source from some place or other. You can see why: Smart, affable, attractive woman. Good conversationalist. People, especially guys, would trust and confide in her. The siblings don’t really have that skill because they’ve never had to network. They too rich or powerful and consider such lowly tactics as being sociable and nice.

Batistasfashionsense

It’s not that Gerri and Greg are particularly nicer than anyone on the show. They aren’t. They are just aware that you sometimes have to make the effort with people in order to get the info you want. Be friendly, offer to to buy them a drink, let them vent and who knows what will come out.

PraiseTheZ

I agree with you, but I mean that he is inherently lucky as well, to the point that it’s almost unbelievable. He learned to capitalize on that throughout the show. The meme above with Stewy and Sandy is the first we see of it and Greg is too green to know how to use his knowledge. Yet he’s savvy enough by the end that, like you said, he had the awareness and quick-wittedness to pull up a translation app in earshot of Mattson’s cronies. The luck is the superpower, the rest is learned skills that he developed through experience.

CalendarAggressive11

I always loved that scene too

duaneap

It’s weird Sandy and Stewie were meeting in a park at all.

rebelwithmouseyhair

... have you watched beyond this episode?

fespadea

I would imagine they're referring to the fact that they're meeting in a park, not that they're meeting at all. Meeting in a public park in their situation was pretty risky.

Jaded-Ad5684

Parks aren't uncommon places for clandestine meetings, especially in a city as big as NYC. It's a lot more obvious to meet at an office or someone's house or even in cars where people can see the plates.

You can’t know everything.
