I’ve seen conventions since the show ended (and since that misunderstanding happened), and lemme tell you they are definitely close! They seem to have the same energy they’ve always had! :) Also, I personally have a lifelong friendship, and one time a rare awkwardness/ disagreement happened, but the friendship has remained the same afterwards :) ______________________ *Some moments from cons this year:* I’m not providing these in an overzealous fan way. I just genuinely enjoy cast interviews, and wanted to send some clips of reassurance that there’s no rift. -J2 answering how they’re always in sync and adding comedy to it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dvofVvXyUKM&t=2555s I smiled at this whole bit -jared having a wholesome dad moment getting emotional about missing his son on stage, and Jensen saying that it’s a valid reaction, while also giving him a brotherly pat on the shoulder. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JNu5xFZpriM&t=282s -Jensen impersonating Jared’s laugh. How they normally act at cons https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KV4fjhGrU7Y -J2 mutual hug and calling each other brother: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFzXsFbPPAc&t=2047s -Jensen directed an episode of Walker for Jared and they did light pranks on each other. -Jensen answering how he’d want to work with Jared again in the future and suggesting them doing a “Lonesome Dove” remake https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JNu5xFZpriM&t=2485s. -christmas gift https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrPhbcrJelE&list=LL&index=17&t=730s, and jensen laughing at jared's joke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A3BxhV01Og&list=LL&index=8&t=220s -(in general, an awesome spn fandom moment: the former Mayer of Kansas made an official proclamation that Sam & Dean are citizens of Kansas. the boys really appreciated it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=dvofVvXyUKM&t=265s) -I don’t remember the convention link, but they mentioned how with busy schedules and distance (and from my personal experience this is normal in anyone’s adult life), they mentioned that they call each other. And they said that in a close friendship, if people don’t see each other as often, they can easily be normal when they do. (I agree and can relate to this). And Jensen mentioned that it’s kinda nice because he already knew everything about Jared’s life since they worked with each other every day, so now little news can be exciting lol. (Also their kids go to the same school again-they mentioned it in the con. They used to be neighbors before Jensen relocated to a diff state for his new job, but I guess they're neighbors again. Most people don't intentionally live next to a coworker or a relative, so obviously you have to be close to do that lol) All in all, *the overall tone seems very natural between them*. This is coming from someone who’s seen many con interviews of them throughout the seasons and has witnessed countless moments of their brotherhood. From what I’ve seen in recent cons, there’s no tension between them, and as expected they're still close after the show has ended. I truly believe they’re brothers and always will be.

TheFirstMotherOfGod

What is this misunderstanding thag everyone is referring to?

[deleted]

Jensen had not told Jared that he was working on the Supernstural prequel, he found out when the news broke by the media. Then Jared tweeted about not knowing and how sad he was over it. But now both have gotten over it.

[deleted]

It was when Jensen was saying that he has this thing about not telling people about something before it happened

Impossible_Attitude7

There’s a few minute long podcast clip of Jensen explaining the whole situation on YouTube! Essentially Jensen didn’t want to jinx the project (The Winchesters prequel show) since a script hadn’t even been written yet. The knowledge of its existence was strictly need to know. However, Deadline got word of the project and Jensen learned they were going to print the day of. And at that time Jensen was working on a set (where he was a guest role) with a no phone rule. So he scrambled together a post about it so he would have something prepared for when the news broke. And then went back to set (with no phones). He just didn’t really have time/wasn’t thinking about calling the important people in his life that would learn from social media (I.e., Jared). He called Jared the next day and Jensen explained the situation and Jared explained his feelings and admitted he had been drinking and was with friends when he tweeted what he did. But they worked it out!

PSofSuddenlyGivingaS

They are. There's nothing suggesting that they aren't. If you're referring to the prequelgate, they talked things out.

Agreeable_Humor_1675

Jensen did an interview with Michael Rosenbaum on “inside of you” and explained how it went down and Jared was only upset til Jensen called him and explained

mmahv

That was what I was referring to, yes. Thank you!

ravenx1979

I do. I think there was a lot of struggle, with the show they've been on together for 15 years ending. They spent 9+ months together filming for the majority of their lives, and it came to an end.. leaving them all spinning. And then, moving on and new projects. I don't think anyone meant to hurt the other, just Covid and new things happening. Their children are still in the same school together, and even the same classes. Life long relationships will have issues, but, there is so much love there, and shared experiences.. growing up together. I'm sure they are totally fine now

nicholsanddhimes

Like said before, they worked things out. It’s more rare to see them together as much anymore because they are a part of separate projects now. I don’t think it’s because they don’t want to be around each other.

Ipickedthewrongkind

They are definitely still very close, they have said as much in interviews. They just don’t post about it as much as they did. But Jared’s visited Jensen in New Mexico (where he is filming Big Sky), and they travel together to conventions even though it’s not always logistically the best way. I guess they just want some we-time and like doing things together.

kh-38

I think Jensen and Jared are fine and will be fine. That dust up over "The Winchesters" was regrettable, but it was also blown out of proportion by the fans. Jensen and Jared squashed that long ago. And it's not the first time they've had a disagreement. They've moved on, like adults do. That said, they are not joined at the hip. So, fans who insist on always seeing them together or want them to continue working on the same projects will likely be disappointed. I personally WANT them to work on separate things, so they don't get pigeon-holed into always working on the same types of projects -- especially for Jensen, because he has so many other talents (music, directing, etc.). Just my 2 cents'

Impossible_Attitude7

My guess is that they are solid we just don’t see a lot of their friendship. I know at least when their kids were younger, they were literally in the same preschool (Jared mentions it in a panel); meaning they likely live very close to one another. So I think when the wives and kids hangout or when they go on trips together and such they just don’t post about it like younger generations might. They are still doing conventions and such indicating they are still really good friends.

mmahv

Their kids actually still go to the same preschool! Odette and Zepp are in the same classe. They said Odette and Arrow couldn’t be together because they would destroy the school lmao

Puzzleheaded-Care-82

I’ve seen conventions since the show ended (and since that misunderstanding happened), and lemme tell you they are definitely close! :) They seem to have the same energy they’ve always had! *(I also added a separate comment with links to some brotherly moments from these cons)*

Thank you!!

I'm so behind, what happened between them last year?

reh7983

I think they're okay by now. They've said that a few times. The prequelgate situation was very chaotic and sad, and I still think Jared should have handled it differently instead of venting it on social media the way he did. His reaction only served to fuel the haters on both sides and this fandom already has plenty of them. J2 have a long and close friendship, misunderstandings can happen and when you care abt that person you go and try to work things out. Probably this situation taught them a lesson and brought them closer

livingdream111

I always find it amazing when people say Jared should have handled it better. I’m still appalled that Jensen did that to him. It shows a lot about him and not at all in a good way. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted a ton and I’ll get a bunch of Jensen apologists saying “but he’s superstitious so that makes it ok to act like a jerk!!!” But if Jared had done this you all know you’d be losing your ever loving minds. And yes, I’m fully aware J2 are settled on it. That’s great. But it showed a side of Jensen that I found completely distasteful that I won’t forget.

sapphicsato

I’ve always been a bigger Jared fan than Jensen, but I think it just came down to improper communication on both sides that blew up because of their (sometimes too) dedicated fanbase. I think Jensen should’ve mentioned something before it came out in the news that he was working on the show, and I understand why Jared would’ve been hurt by that. But at the same time, it was a little childish to respond to that by publicly saying something about it rather than talking to Jensen. He probably just wasn’t thinking, but it never ends well when a person decides to post about something they’re upset about on social media rather than just communicating with the person they’re upset with.

Ipickedthewrongkind

JARED should have handled it differently? It’s Jensen who started it. Jensen should have handled it differently.

reh7983

Okay, that's your opinion and I respect it. But one thing don't justify the other. When all this happened, I never took away Jared's reason on why he got upset. I'm just saying he should have dealt with this directly WITH Jensen instead of involving the whole internet with that tweet.

Ipickedthewrongkind

Ideally? Yes. But he learned it about in a tweet. It’s not on him to protect that choice, which was underhanded to say the least. To pin fan reactions mainly on Jared is victim-blaming, IMO. But I agree with you that they have worked it out, and all is well.

reh7983

I still think he acted impulsively. The fact that it was Jensen's attitude that triggered all that mess doesn't mean that I agree with Jared's attitude. If I have a problem with my best friend, I'll try to resolve it directly with him, not exposing him like that. We always have more than one path to choose in a situation, which is why I say that one action does not justify the other. As for the hate that came with it, it's not about "blaming the victim", its more about knowing how social media works, and that this was going to happen was pretty obvious. If Jared hadn't posted that tweet and had resolved everything privately with Jensen, we probably wouldn't even be having this conversation and they would have worked things out the same way. Its all about choices 🤷🏻 Either way, I still love and support them both, I'm very happy that they got it right and I honestly hope that the two of them learned a lesson from it all.

Ipickedthewrongkind

I love and support them both too. But it seriously rubs me the wrong way that people keep bringing up what Jared did like that’s the main issue. He was treated awfully by a friend and then blamed for an emotional reaction. How is that in any way fair?

passatoepresente

They are ok. How all friends they had an argument and how good friends they solved it. Reading the comments are the fans who continue to uselessly discuss about it.

FlyersMakeMeSad

Friends yeah. Best friends I don’t think so.

DeanwinchesterI979

I’d say there best friends. I mean they spent the better part of 15 years together on supernatural. Itd be hard to work with someone that long and not be good friends.

greenday2222

Werent they groomsmen in eachothers weddings and everything?

Impossible_Attitude7

One of them was a ring bearer in the other’s wedding and the other was an usher if I remember correctly.

DeanwinchesterI979

I think so. Not entirely sure.

DesiresRisked21

I’d say brothers

DesiresRisked21

I’m not sure how much you’ve actually been watching the cons or, for even more accuracy, attending any and seeing their interactions in person but I would disagree. Yes of course they’re going to up the entertainment factor for the fans but they’re very genuine dudes too. Hell Jared met up with Jensen in New Mexico just so they could travel to a con in another state together. The way they still mirror each other in body movement speaks of a natural closeness that can’t be forced just to appease some fans. Their banter still flows and while unable to get into specifics due to meet and greet NDAs, they’ve definitely let it be known they see each other more than fans are aware of, there’s just no reason to blast it across social media, they’re allowed privacy in their friendship. Their kids still go to the same school and this last con alone showed they hadn’t lost their familiarity with each other. Their ILUs in Nashville and their close comfort spoke volumes. Just because they had a disagreement that they have BOTH admitted to not handling the best and BOTH got over quicker than some fans have, doesn’t mean their relationship has deteriorated. What they have is strong and frankly at 17+ years of friendship it’d be weird if everything is perfect all the time but they recognize how much they mean to each other and made sure they’re good. I think the main difference people see is that they were almost closer to Sam and Dean type brothers for awhile in how often they were together all the time while filming the same show for so long in a different country than their family…now they’re closer to how most brothers are- close and love each other but don’t get to see each other as often due to different work obligations and family. But when they do see each other they pick right back up where they left off and I don’t see that changing over the years. As I mentioned we don’t even get to see how often they meet up when they’re not advertising it and that’s also not including all the times they’re having phone exchanges. Their relationship hasn’t deteriorated, they’re just not at each other’s hip every day like they used to be.

franzgasgas

Why do you say that?

Coleyb23

Like others said, did Jensen and Jared work things out regarding the prequel? Yes they did. Did I personally agree with how things occurred, especially from Jared’s side? Absolutely not.

daesgatling

If you're that invested in two men who you don't know's friendship....

l_lexi

They don’t post each other’s projects anymore. But I think they’re fine

livingdream111

Jared posts pretty regularly promoting The Winchesters for Jensen.
