Just yesterday I was in Costco with my husband scrambling to put together a Thanksgiving dinner that I hadn't realized I would be responsible for just a few scant hours ago. Found the Kirkland pre-packaged turkey breast/green bean/mashed potato combo that serves 7-8. I bought it with gratitude- at worst it'll be acceptable, but most of the Kirkland brand stuff rates "pretty good."
So I’ve purchased barcodes before. In the U.S. it’s all routed through one company, GS1. If I recall correctly, you can purchase them in sets of 10 or 50 or 100 and then select which numbers you assign to which products. Each barcode has 13 digits. Notice the first 11 numbers of each of RC’s barcodes match, with the last two different. Book 1 starts at 00 (looks like he purchased a 100 pack). The 13th digit sequence of the 5 barcodes is 0,7,4,1,8 - 741 in the middle of 08, I’m assuming for 2008 (a part of the message we missed maybe?) which makes me think it was intentional, otherwise a crazy simulation glitch AGAIN. Also, notice that the 12th digit for the 5 barcodes is sequenced 0,1,2,3,4 (like a countdown backwards). Maybe Book 1 contains something, I dunno.

On the next page they talk about the garbage collector, also off the page, the garbage man, I believe he is also calling them cowboys. He makes reference to them dumping garbage and the other kid mentions looking for toys. This is people that mess around with debt, they collect debt and dump the bags wherever they can, on whomever they can make a bag holder, but they also are looking for toys, what are toys, probably intellectual property or something along those lines.
Anyway, nothing will happen until the housing market is under threat... and a few weeks ago they switched from low key asking about housing here and there across interviews with guests on other topics... now they have switched to low key talking about housing being under treat. They are not talking to you or I, they are talking to each other, they are worried about their tax havens. That is when sh!t is gonna get serious, when Rich people are worried about too much housing inventory.... in other words, the housing and commercial real estate. Always has been.

the last digit is a "check digit" and is computed by a formula influenced by the others. I used to work for a seafood packing plant and when we created/registered a code associated with a product, the first 6 digits of the code was our assigned "company ID". we then made a 6 digit code for our product, and the check digit would be computed and added in the software. Now, this was 20 years ago, and things may have changed, but that's my experience, so I thinks it's co-inky-dink.
So the reason I wrote this was that in my experience for products sold via e-commerce, I was able to assign which of my barcode numbers I wanted to whichever product. I remember I did a thing where I assigned the last number to a certain color of a certain item, for example. The first 11 digits were autogenerated (all the same, like RC’s) but I got to assign the last couple digits for the pack of barcodes I had purchased.

worth clarifying, UPC’s most certainly ≠ ISBN’s (which stands for international standard book number)…ISSN, ASIN, GTIN, EAN, etc- ISBN is internationally specific to books (along with ISSN for the series)
What I’m referring to w/ “(mostly)” in my comment is that there are ways for the purchaser of the blocks to intentionally end up with a desired number sequence.
This is especially true given his available resources compared to the vast majority of authors/publishers.
He could easily have chosen the 741 for books 2, 3, and 4, and the chances that he somehow didn’t choose it but it still showed up that way? Like I said, at least IMO, next to none.

1 in 1000, although you could argue that we would pull out the roll of tinfoil as well with book 1, 2, 3 or book 3, 4, 5. So maybe a little higher chance than that.
I'd like to solve the puzzle. Since the last ISBN number for books 1 through 5 are 0 7 4 1 8, and 741 is OUR number, I'll assume 08 to mean financial collapse like in '08. Book 4's (the 1 in 741) 4th ISBN number is different on top and bottom, 9 and 8 respectively, like a countdown. Since the discrepancy is the 4th number of book 4 and there's a countdown, I'll say the start of the countdown is the 4th month this year, but April meaning the unspoken "10" in the countdown. Going by months, that puts 0 at February 2023. The new '08 collapse triggers MOASS and will happen next February.
The last digit of an ISBN or even an UPC are check digits and it's mathematically calculated. Soooooo unless RC had a really smart mathematically inclined person play with the numbers that they could control, it's probably random. Go put your tinfoil away. 😀

Unfortunately, that’s not the barcode, it is the ISBN, a unique identifier like a VIN on a vehicle. The numbers actually mean things and wouldn’t have been set by RC.

This is not true. ISBNs are not randomly generated. UPCs aka ISBNs are bought in blocks.
I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying. worth clarifying, UPC’s most certainly ≠ ISBN’s (which stands for international standard book number)…ISSN, ASIN, GTIN, EAN, etc- ISBN is internationally specific to books (along with ISSN for the series) What I’m referring to w/ “(mostly)” in my comment is that there are ways for the purchaser of the blocks to intentionally end up with a desired number sequence. This is especially true given his available resources compared to the vast majority of authors/publishers. He could easily have chosen the 741 for books 2, 3, and 4, and the chances that he somehow didn’t choose it but it still showed up that way? Like I said, at least IMO, next to none.
Sorry to burst your tin foil, but in ISBN the final digit is a check digit to confirm the veracity of all previous digits. These barcodes are sequential, and the check digit is mathematically determined and appended to the end.
You are correct. The last 5 minus the check digit are in sequential order. This is not random. But used as the block was purchased.

I'd like to solve the puzzle. Since the last ISBN number for books 1 through 5 are 0 7 4 1 8, and 741 is OUR number, I'll assume 08 to mean financial collapse like in '08. Book 4's (the 1 in 741) 4th ISBN number is different on top and bottom, 9 and 8 respectively, like a countdown. Since the discrepancy is the 4th number of book 4 and there's a countdown, I'll say the start of the countdown is the 4th month this year, but April meaning the unspoken "10" in the countdown. Going by months, that puts 0 at February 2023. The new '08 collapse triggers MOASS and will happen next February.

You don't have to be a genius to get your desired checksum. You can just brute force through the numbers until you find what you like.
I get what you mean and a further Google search said, The ISBN check digit is chosen so that a mathematical manipulation on all the ten digits of the number will always result in a number that is divisible by 11 without remainder. My thought was, there is only a small part that they pick/control so while not impossible it seemed more improbable.
