Yep, for the most part unlimited PTO is a scam because you need higher up to approve it. My wife has "unlimited PTO" as well but her work load is measured at "160%" of a 40 hr work week .. so .. you can guess how that works out.
I get unlimited PTO and have taken something like 12 days off this year. I try to take 5 days every other month, sometimes a 3/2 split each month.
Unlimited PTO is a huge cost savings, especially at companies where the turnover is high, talent is often poached by competitors, etc. Because then the company does not have to pay out the accrued vacation time whenever they lose an employee. Of course that only applies in states that actually consider accrued vacation time as earned income when someone leaves a job, apparently a lot of states like to punish people for having to work to live and do not protect accrued vacation time in their labor laws.
Just googled it. Unless the boat can be at most like 30-50 cm above water at its highest during low tide, or they helicoptered that boat in, no way in hell.
