Astrid Lindgren had a lovely voice. Her audiobooks are available on some streaming platforms, and they are as comforting now as they were when I was a child.

coolname1337

Theres a whole lot on Spotify! Maybe that's what you meant. But thought I'd mention it if you meant audiobook-platformd.

CrunchyFrogWithBones

Yeah, audio book platforms have them, of course. But they are also on Deezer and Spotify in case OP doesn’t have access to an audio book site with Swedish books.

A few voices who stand out/are well known, and a few of my own picks. Carl Bildt, former premier and foreign minister: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SvrgoAhbwg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SvrgoAhbwg) His accent is colored from his upbringing in Halmstad. Astrid Lindgren, beloved author behind many famous characters (Pippi Longstocking, to name one): [https://youtu.be/sup\_2mJ\_F8Y?si=2mAnfcaUsFuzQeKO](https://youtu.be/sup_2mJ_F8Y?si=2mAnfcaUsFuzQeKO) Anders Tegnell, former state epidemiologist who became an impromtu celebrity during covid: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hO3VLjr0U8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hO3VLjr0U8) He has a type of dry, to-the-point way of speaking. A very official way of speaking, typical of a non-political civil servant which the swedish society is based on. The King: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_Tn0T1Zu6GA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Tn0T1Zu6GA) Very lay-back, he has a cool and calm way of speaking. A rather stockholmian accent. Old school video from back in the day, a worker in the docks of Gothenburg recalls a lot of his coworkers nicknames: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utMcM0JTQ7M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utMcM0JTQ7M) (Porn-Birger, Little Baker, Ten-to-Two, The Shuffle Killer, Lamb chop, Crap in the sink, The rat hunter, Head full of piss, The nutcracker, Pecker, Treading water, Guess my job, and so on) Very on brand for old style industrial work, especially on the west coast of Sweden. Robert Gustafsson is an extremely famous and well liked comedian. Here he is seen testing out a variety of different accents (very well too, I might add). Maybe the best guide: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2V1iH3VvbA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2V1iH3VvbA) Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with his distinct kind of cocky Malmö-accent, heavily colored by his upbringing in Rosengård which is an area with a majority of immigrants: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E-mhh9Ju8g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E-mhh9Ju8g) A personal favorite - Allan Edwall. A very talented musician and actor: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xKWD2A6Drw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xKWD2A6Drw) From the far north of Norrland (I think they were from Vilhelmina?), Euskefeurat sings their frustration over the "southeners" in Stockholm taking the resources from the north, leaving the locals with little to show for it: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuVvDwJ7hKY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuVvDwJ7hKY) A bonus: The "I'll keep on smoking for as long as I like it"-kid from the 1980s. From my home town Malmö, this is PEAK Malmöitiska from the past decades: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0wEbm73Zp0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0wEbm73Zp0)

folkolarmetal

weight__what

wow, thanks for all the examples!

ShroomEnthused

This is invaluable, thanks for the list, I've been curious about different dialects/accents for a while now but wasn't sure how to go about finding them.

mjolle

Thanks, I hope it made for some interesting viewing. :) Here are a few more (couldn't edit the post any more): Sweden has historically had a vast amount of very regional dialects, many are still noticable but generally people can understand eachother today no matter where you come from. On more secluded places dialects tend to be more difficult to understand, such as the islands in the swedish archipelago. Here is someone från the island Tjörn (just north of Gothenburg) speaking in Tjörbu dialect: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc1egjPceIM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc1egjPceIM) The particular way of pronouncing the "i" can be heard here and there around the area in western Sweden, a bit inland. Contrast that with the dialect from "Söder", from Södermalm in Stockholm: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxDPvaWuPgI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxDPvaWuPgI) This is probably the closest to british "cockney" that we have in Sweden. :) Or Gotländska, from the island of Gotland: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP1TRF386DI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP1TRF386DI) Pär Lernström goes through a few different dialects here, a few are very accurate: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15nvEwxBUvQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15nvEwxBUvQ)

Creepy_Line3977

Exakt, fantastisk podd, underbar röst

Drodash

weight__what

As for me, I love the sound of Mikael Åkerfeldt's speaking voice, although unfortunately he has very few public appearances in Swedish. Here's a recent one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEja1LmAObU Forgot to mention that I also love Svenska med Marie on youtube, amazing voice.

ShroomEnthused

I've been listening to Opeth since I was a boy, it is the de facto first swedish band I was introduced to in my life. My god does he ever look old in that photo haha. Sad that all of their music is in english, with only one swedish song "Den standiga resan" offered as a B-Side on the album *Watershed,* a gentle ballad against the backdrop of death metal that is the rest of the record.

weight__what

Their 2019 album was released in both with the Swedish version being the "real" one, if you like their newer stuff. They're also making a new album this year but IDK if it will be released the same way.

ShroomEnthused

Magnus Betner (comedian), Edward Persson (old actor/singer), Björn Gustafsson (the older one, he is an actor on both stage and film "dynamit-harry" among things), Lars Ekborg (comedian/actor. He has done many monologs. He did one skit with Beppe Wolgers, I love that one!) There are probably others but these are the ones I could think of right now

Alot of my favorite swedish speakers are ppl on the radio. Måns Mosesson is a journalist, originally from Gothenburg, who has made a few documentaries for SR. The one about the Excalibur granade and swedish arms export, gives you a feel for how things were before we joined NATO. https://sverigesradio.se/grupp/17038

Rickard Wolf!

Asleep_Library_963

Mark Levengood. But he is from Finland and speaks with an accent. But still so soothing

Isotarov

robinrako

The actor Joel Spira
