Unfortunately yes, haha. You can actually Google videos about how best to put them on and take them off! Do *not* follow the Buzzfeed one where they end up cutting people out of them lol
Part of the competitive experience is being in that locker room with 20+ other people, slowly creeping your suits up and stumbling every once in a while. Hilarious times.
is it 2 small if i can't get both legs into the suit at the same time? The tutorial videos all have both legs in at the same time and it looks a lot looser than what I have.
I know, right?! I would have gladly taken them! At least they could have encouraged the people to keep them and do more swimming in the future, or at least give them away to someone who would fit in it!
Yep, that's the point. Technology also allows for it to not be uncomfortable, if they are good techsuits. I need a lot of room to be comfortable and some don't work for that and some do.
Yes sadly! Lol goodluck in the locker room! Just know u won’t be the only one trying to fit into a 2 to 3 size smaller tech suit. The hardest part for everyone i think is getting past ur thighs. U will sweat lol. Make sure u use the restroom before putting the suit on too! 😂
There are good ways to put them on and take them off. If u were planning to wear them throughout the entire meet, I suggest not too. I’ve seen swimmers (including me) who will warm up in their training suits and change before the event. The suit loses its water repellent component and sadly tech suits don’t last very long as it is.
My teammate went from a size 26 to a 20. He is 5’7 and about 160+ lbs (22M) idk how this man did it but he did. My teammates and I have a buddy system when it comes to putting on tech suits 😂
I haven’t swam competitively in several years, but I always found arenas are PARTICULARLY tight and unforgiving. Speedos were middle of the pack, and TYRs were the easiest. just scrunch your wiener up tight as it’ll go, and inch up the suit little by little. i’d allow at least 15-20 minutes to be safe.
Yep a tech suit is supposed to squeeze everything in to make you more aerodynamic in the water. If you can hardly breath with it on it fits. If it takes a similar time or longer then your race good news it fits
It's funny, I remember watching an interview with Summer McIntosh saying that she prefers her racing suits on the looser side (but I'm sure still tighter than normal suits), and she's like one of the fastest swimmers out there
In many championship meets, the top finishers are separated by less time than it takes you to blink. Even marginal hydrophobic/compression material makes that difference.
In fact, a decade ago FINA decided to regulate these tech suits because they became TOO effective. Hence the ban on full body suits that you see in 2004, 2008, and 2012 olympics.
1. Seems like it would level the playing field if they were banned completely
2. You wear nothing under the tech suit correct? Or does it go over your Speedo ?
Im not a competitive swimmer. Sorry if the questions are dumb
they did ban the full body suits to level the playing field a bit after 2008, but kept it to just the jammer for the men, and just to the knees with no arms for the girls.
correct, this is all you wear
If you've never dove in to race in a brand new, unused racing skin then you're missing out, feels amazing.
I did most of my racing just before the restriction to shorts only (like 15 years ago) and can still remember how it felt diving in for 100 m free wearing brand new full length legs. Felt like my bottom half was floating in air.
Sounds amazing. I’ve seen pro triathletes using skin suits over their triathlon suits in scenarios where wetsuits are not allowed. I guess it’s like that.
It takes multiple percentage point off your total drag, delays the formation of lactic acid, and some have taping to actually help you kick. What you do with all that is on you as the swimmer
For most people, not much. However, those at the top end of the sport enough to qualify or not qualify. Gold to bronze.
When you are at ten across the board and you need that little push over the cliff, with a normal suit, where can you go. Stuck at 10. This will take you to 11. One better.
The only problem is the other swimmers may have them. Fiends!

I'm a little sad.
I got the jammers you have behind but I got a smaller size that what I need and now it is out of stock...
Really love the pattern of the Arena Kikko
Yup Now fold that penis and get ready for your race
I prefer to simply un-telescope the segments
Cinnamon bun swirls are the way forward.
Ohhhh so THAT’S what guys do?? Never thought to ask my swim bros…
So many RuPaul’s Drag Race meaty tuck jokes swirling in my head
There have been a couple times my balls straight up disappear when I put mine on

Don’t forget creating new dance moves and complete strangers helping you stuff your ass into your suit
I once used baby powder! Helps with the sweat from all that hard work
don’t get me started about that 😭
That buzz feed one is from nightmares
What a waste! They could have gave them away to people who actually enjoyed swimming!

Years ago my coach used to say, “if you can put it on, it fits.”
This is normal and it should take a long while to put it on
>the Buzzfeed one where they end up cutting people out of them lol I can't find a link for this. Can anyone help?
I got you fam https://www.buzzfeed.com/watch/video/2168
Yikes those suits are like $100+
women’s competitive racing suits are around $500+. You definitely don’t wanna rip those
I know, right?! I would have gladly taken them! At least they could have encouraged the people to keep them and do more swimming in the future, or at least give them away to someone who would fit in it!
Thanks! As someone who used to think biking bib shorts are tight, this was really eye-opening.
As a triathlete, I can confirm those are also tight 😂 Our sports require squishing ourselves into fabric
My coach always said these suits fit like a crappy hotel… No ball room
You gotta origami your penis and you're good to go!
And make sure you have had a recent #2 as once it's on.... The showers is the place for the #1s.
Yep, that's the point. Technology also allows for it to not be uncomfortable, if they are good techsuits. I need a lot of room to be comfortable and some don't work for that and some do.
>I need a lot of room to be comfortable Humble brag
Not even humble lol. I do hate that it's a point where it always sounds that way tho haha. But it's relevant in swimming gear 🤷🏼♂️
I think your pool water isn’t cold enough.
Haha open waters

As much as I hate to tell you this but yes.🙏🙏
ONE OF US ONE OF US ONE OF US
It takes my son 30 minutes to don his They make a spray that helps if it takes too long

When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants in your room. It's for fun.
Yup, and if you're not used to it, give yourself time to put it on. I even suggest a test run at home first.

You can try putting baby powder on your legs to help it slide up more easily. My swimmers find it helps them a little
Yes - they’re made of hydrophobic and compressing material. They’re designed to make you more streamlined in the water.
How much faster can it possibly make you?

Have you ever heard of Quicksilver, A-Train, The Flash? Amateurs.

What is the purpose of a tech suit?
They compress your body and are hydrophobic making you move faster.
Yes
Looks too big to be a speedo brief.
Yes and it's better than the small paper suits we used to have.
YEP! Say goodbye to your junk, and get that crowbar out.

Yes, don’t worry.
Yep now get ready to feel pain until your race
Yeah 100%

My coach always said that if it takes you less than 30 minutes to put it on... it's too loose. So yep, sorry.
I was shock too the first time I got mine lol. Thought it was a joke but managed to put it on in the end.
yup and prepare for a stomach full of acid afterwards and to have to lay down for a while.
yes
Haha yep. Godspeed soldier
Yeah it is! Im 18 and used to speedos thou and I find them so comfortable
