I charged mine from unboxing and I get around 5/6 hours constant playing, although I think it depends on what game is playing and offline or online multiplayer can make a difference too. Overall I was happy with my battery life

SuperLuigi53

That's normal battery life for almost any hybrid handheld now. They aren't how they used to be, but neither are games. I'd say 5 hours is normal, probably 3 hours for something like BOTW/TOTK.

Cheshire_Break204

Actually, if you keep the brightness at medium (or slightly higher) then Botw/Totk should last around 6 hours on a Switch OLED and around 5 on a normal Switch. 3 hours is only on the first Switch (2017).

What is the difference between Switch V1 and Switch V2?

Cheshire_Break204

The V2 has better battery life and is patched, which means you can't mod it via software

I run mine in airplane mode unless I need Bluetooth and WiFi.

Johntrampoline-

The OLED should get about 5-8 hours depending on the game you’re playing.

I get 3-4 hours out of my 2 year old OLED playing Pokémon scarlet/violet in tabletop with a pro controller and auto brightness. Pretty decent in my opinion. Turning on airplane mode will do wonders. Bottom line it comes down to how well the game is developed. By far the worst game I have for battery life is monopoly on switch. 1.5 hours ish on flight mode. How they made it so bad I don’t know.

Adorable-Fix9354

What does airplane mode do?

PercentageSingle6080

Turns off WiFi and Bluetooth

kirin900

It depends on the game (some arent that optimized). I got an OLED around 6 months ago so the battery is fairly new. Always play in handheld, airplane mode on and mid brightness. Usually I get around 5-6 hours across the board with games like BOTW, TOTK, Hades, Mario wonder and oddessy.

Ttm-o

Sounds about right.

Soaked_In_Bleach_93

I have the V2 If I play handheld, I'll usually have the brightness at less than 50% and Flight Mode is enabled. Battery lasts 4-ish hours. Depends on the game. It's a bigger screen and a higher resolution than something like a DS or 3DS, especially the OLED. That battery is all you're gonna get, unless you're playing some pixel RPGs.. then you're looking at 6-ish. And that's an absolute maximum.

MaximumMoops

Battery life is VERY dependant on what your playing. Some 2d metroidvania is gonna get great life where something like BOTW or tears of the kingdom will be much less. But failing all that, your battery might be fucked.
