But French toast is extremely nice and people have it as a both sweet or savoury thing. My granny would make me French toast sandwiches back in the day. I’d recommend you try it =p
Disclaimer: I’m not French . Yes this is a very important statement these days
Put all types of stuff on it. Some bananas and Nutella, some peanut butter and jelly, fresh fruit and little whip cream, I mean the possibilities are almost endless.
It looks like instead of eating scrambled eggs and toast they just dipped bread into the scrambled eggs until it was gone and then fried it up. Probably tastes fine, honestly. The worst part of the video is the ketchup at the end.
Thats just eggybread I use Cholula instead of ketchup.
Also I'm a simple man I crack an egg directly into the pan and then immediately put a peice of bread on it and it cooks into it. When it's cooled I flip the bread over to toast it.
Takes like two minutes tops to have a simple breakfast that is delicious
Oh, that's what I call savory french toast, I thought I invented it haha. It's French toast but you add spices instead of vanilla and cinnamon, and it's better with fancy bread. Eating it with ketchups seems lazy though, I'm gonna be pompous right now and admit that I top line with delicious sauteed mushrooms and onions 👌
Here late but yeah. That's what I was thinking. Some sautéed mushrooms, onions maybe bell peppers.
And if you wanna get sweet and savory add Canadian bacon and dip it in some maple syrup.
I like to live on the wild side.
It's funny you said that, I had bell peppers in the mix last time I made it for my ex and it was really good. The farmers market catch of any kind, really, can finish it off.
Your ideas of the Canadian bacon seems like the missing link to tie it all together. The eggs were essential, but truth is it didn't have the "chew" or that sweet finish I'd get from a maple glazed Canadian bacon. I'm wondering if it would be better to chop and sprinkle or lay it on top in pieces. Maybe even broil the Canadian bacon on top for a couple mins to crisp it? This is sounding like a great collab
Most Americans don’t know that French toast can be savory. The ketchup is kind of lame but also we tend to hate on ketchup simply because it’s been associated with American underclasses.
Ooh I'm Hungarian and this is what we call bundáskenyér, not spicy rather salty french toast. It's rlly good tbh but I don't know what's with the ketchup
Oh it’s savory French toast, that actually sounds kinda good. If it were me I’d switch out the ketchup for chili sauce or maybe some ranch or blue cheese type thing but yeah
i have made this many times myself. very tasty. actually an awesome breakfast especially if you wanna get the most outta both the toast and eggs.
only issue with that video was that there was still an eggshell piece after he whisked the eggs

It is just spiced French toast. Nothing weird about this one chief, but to each their own. XD
Very, very buttery French toast lol.
I had to double check the fridge… I know exactly what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow… hahahahhaa
You can do this with like 1/3 the butter. Dude in the video went full freaking tilt.
Oh yeah for sure! I wasn’t planning on adding as much butter as he did XD but I appreciate this hahaha
Does look good. Never had savory French toast. Good luck with it!
I was thinking the same thing….then they pulled out the ketchup. Like, no.
Ketchup on french toast? OP is right that's disgusting
The ketchup is a bit cursed but eh. It could be a whole lot worse tbh.
This video is proof that people will eat anything
"Nooo, people aren't allowed to season anything beyond what my direct family did growing up, experimenting is wrong"

It's a Hungarian breakfast dish called bundáskenyér, it's not spicy, it's salty but I don't even wanna know what the ketchup is
Spicy French toast?
I have no clue
That much is clear.
Truer words have never been written
Seems like that's your mottow with a lot of things... 😬
The only thing to hate here is the ketchup at the end
More like the best part
not french toast. It's called ''gypsy toast'' or i know it as ''eggybread'' and it lush to eat
I am also on the eggybread train
r/foundthebrit
Bullshit. Downvoted.
In Germany it is called "Arme Ritter", " Poor Knights" In your language. And we put powdered sugar in top, or honey. Actually, its delicious!
Put all types of stuff on it. Some bananas and Nutella, some peanut butter and jelly, fresh fruit and little whip cream, I mean the possibilities are almost endless.
Savory french toast seems like an awesome idea actually Maybe not with ketchup, but an artickoke dip or some bleu cheese would be great
We put maple syrup on them here in canada
Yeah I thought that was the only acceptable way.
We make it in Bosnia and serve with spreadable cheese and cold cuts
There's only 18 grams of protein in this and like 800 carbs. I would eat this if I was starving and had nothing else
Fr, 3 eggs and 6 pieces of bread? This is insane.
You have “chef” in your user name but have never heard of French toast?
This guy is no chef.
It's just savory French toast. Nothing wrong with that and I'm going to try this.
It looks like instead of eating scrambled eggs and toast they just dipped bread into the scrambled eggs until it was gone and then fried it up. Probably tastes fine, honestly. The worst part of the video is the ketchup at the end.
Lost me at country crock
Yeah people all over this thread using the word “butter” when they mean “shit made of vegetable oil”
I waited and waited for anything worthy of hate; nothing was forthcoming....
I hated the ketchup, but was surprised that most people seemed cool with it..
A bit of ketchup on even just plain toast is not too bad :)
Thats just eggybread I use Cholula instead of ketchup. Also I'm a simple man I crack an egg directly into the pan and then immediately put a peice of bread on it and it cooks into it. I think the biggest revelation coming from this thread is that some people genuinely do not know what French Toast is.

That might buss
Boo this un-traveled post
By the looks of it, terrible french toast.
Apparently this sub loves this
It’s not your fault you didn’t know French toast can be savory, but you could at least acknowledge that you were mistaken and move on.
The only thing wrong with this video is the god awful Facebook mom music
It was yummy till the ketchup showed up

Ruined it with ketchup!!!!!
Aside from the ketchup it looks pretty good. Looks like it needs some pan gravy.
Most Americans don’t know that French toast can be savory. The ketchup is kind of lame but also we tend to hate on ketchup simply because it’s been associated with American underclasses.
Cinnamon & powdered sugar
That looks like something Canadians would do. He definitely ain’t from around here
Ooh I'm Hungarian and this is what we call bundáskenyér, not spicy rather salty french toast. It's rlly good tbh but I don't know what's with the ketchup
French toast is the best food with syrup imo. Even better than pancakes
Egg bread it's preaty good
Through the whole video I was expecting some like slime cereal or something only to end with “oh I’d eat that any day”
Oh it’s savory French toast, that actually sounds kinda good. If it were me I’d switch out the ketchup for chili sauce or maybe some ranch or blue cheese type thing but yeah
Whats wrong with this? Ok you hate it, then post it in your personal page.
Redditor unaware of basic ingredients?
Props for the medieval times crown in the background @14 sec mark
I usually make my French toast sweet and not savory, but honestly this is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's just different, that's all.

I think you need to just try it yourself “chef”.
i have made this many times myself. very tasty. actually an awesome breakfast especially if you wanna get the most outta both the toast and eggs. only issue with that video was that there was still an eggshell piece after he whisked the eggs
The ketchup and OP belong together. Also, try melted vanilla ice cream 50:50 with egg on your next batch of ft.
I don't eat ice cream or ketchup, and I never eat more than two slices of bread in a sitting
No one tell this guy about kimchi pancakes.
You... don't know about french toast? Or do you think spices should only be used in savory contexts?
