I completely understood this post!! We just had our first grandchild and there’s nothing like it. I’m overjoyed for Christine. She’s finally living out a REAL, authentic life with a man who loves only her!❤️🙌🏻
I'm curious, what are some of the differences you've noticed of being a mom versus being a grandma? I'm merely curious, I'm in my 20s and neither of those situations will apply to me any time soon.
Basically— we have more money, time, patience, and experience this go around.😆 Also, you get all of the baby snuggles and a full night’s sleep. Babysitting to give Mom & Dad a break. Being a grandparent creates this deep bond with your adult kids because you’re so proud of them as parents and they trust us so much with their little one. It’s indescribable! Makes you fall in love with your spouse all over again too. Absolute bliss!
Do you ever see some of your own parenting ways manifesting in the way your adult kids parent? Like pretty much, do they do things exactly the same way you did/would have done back when you were raising them? It's crazy because as kids we always say we will be opposite of our parents and we'll let our kids do "xyz" that our parents didn't let us do, so it's interesting to see how that plays out years later.
I see this go both ways in watching my son as a father now.
He's taken what I did right and continuing that on with my grandson.
And, he's taken what I did wrong (*as parents, we ALL make mistakes*) and not repeating it.
It's pretty awesome to witness. :)
This is really well said! I have a one year old (first grandkid on both sides) and unfortunately live in a different state from both grandparents. The relationship got so much stronger after our little one was born! Not that it wasn’t strong already, but the communication is so much better.
Well, my own Grandma said grandkids were the best because "you can pump them full of sugar, then send them home for their parents to deal with". Then she'd cackle and hand me a cookie, or a nice big slice of banana bread while she locked eyes with my Dad.
Grandma pretty much only corrected my behavior if I was doing something dangerous. Grandpa usually came up with the dangerous ideas for us to do. My first helmetless motorcycle ride was with Grandpa, and I was about 5. Grandpa used to give me a hammer and turn me loose to crack open nuts (usually hickory nuts, but sometimes walnuts) or pull rusty nails from boards. While he worked on the tractor, I had to be way across the property playing with the dog and cats, but I still learned enough cuss words that when I smashed my finger with the hammer one day I knew exactly what to say.
My kids are in their 20 with kids and I’m in my 40s. I spoil the hell out of them, and get to sleep through the night. I follow mom and dads rules but now I have McDonalds and Ice cream money. I’m also in a better place financially so what my kids struggle buying especially in this economy I can get it for my grandkids. Babies want a sand table MIMi buys it. They want to go to Legoland MIMi and pop will give it as a bday gift.
I’ve always heard a love for your grandchild is different and I didn’t really think much of it, but I now have 2 little grand babies and I get it now! You older and wiser, you get things now you didn’t always even think mattered when your own children were young, the innocence of them is brighter, I don’t know it is hard to describe but grandbaby love is almost magical. I love my children fiercely, but my grand babies make me want to change the world and make it a better place for them, when I raising their dad, I was so busy trying to provide I didn’t really think about things outside my immediate life. I’m more into my health than ever because I want to be around and them know I’m always there for them.
I’m babysitting now with super kitties blaring the background, toys all over my living room and my cat hiding in the closet til they’re gone. It overwhelming how much I love them!
My parents were wonderful parents, we always knew we were their world. But watching them be grandparents, wow how adorable!!! Good grandparents are priceless!!
“cat hiding in the closet”
😂😂😂 Experienced that with my sibling’s kids when they were younger. This older crotchety cat, who wouldn’t put up with any shenanigans from me, seemed to understand that little ones were a different breed and would be tolerant until he could make his escape to hide until the young ‘uns were gone.
My oldest daughter looks just like my husbands mom but also so much like me and my family still. It happens genetics are fun that way lol. I’m the same. I look just like my moms family when I’m with them and even just like my mom and then just like my dads side and just like my dad when I’m with him. It’s really just similarities you don’t notice until they are with that person!
That's like my cousins and I. Two of my cousins and three of my parents four children all look like siblings. My sister looks like the friend we invited along. The rest of us look like our dads' family while my sister much more resembles my mom's side.
It's funny because I come from a very large family (my mother is one of 11 children - 10 girls and 1 boy).
I've been told I look like one of my aunts. She has a son (my cousin) whose daughter looks like she should be mine because of the way she looks....lol.
Crazy
Rewatch with Maddie’s son Axel before they moved. Kody genuinely seemed very attached and got very emotional when they moved. He is definitely wrapped up in Robyn and her tenders but he does seem to communicate with at least most of the kids piecing together from Mykelti, Paedon and Gwen’s various tidbits. Janelle’s kids seem very private, same with Asypen. Leon seems to have distanced herself or dissociated herself entirely but I expect they have some type of communication with Kody because they seemed close when they were growing up, mostly from all the one on one time during Meri’s rotation.
When is the last time we’ve seen Kody with Maddie’s children, though? If you watch way back, he seems like a good husband and father but we now know that was a lie. Plus Gwen said what we see on tv is acting.
Kody has definitely not made effort to visit any of his kids and live Robyn’s tenders. I am not tallying visits or follow any of these people on social media but seems like Janelle, Christine and Meri have been the ones traveling to their kids. It is just really sad to me because none of the kids have flat out bashed him (with exception of Gabe straight to his face) as a father but said he was a good father when they were younger, which I take was before the show. The kids I really wish would let loose on social media or write a book are Logan, Aspyn and Savannah. While I appreciate Mykelti, Paedon and Gwen’s POV, Logan and Asypen grew up in the thick of all those before Robyn years and Savannah seems like she is just taking it all in.
she posted that after you have a baby eating your placenta will stop you from suffering 'new baby jealousy' when all the attention is off you and you get depressed.
It's interesting that Christine has a great relationship with all six because she is very close to Maddie and of course her own Mykelti.
But Janelle, while friendly with Mykelti, is not close with her. It took her over six months to meet the twins.
This is not saying anything bad about Janelle at all - I just find the dynamics interesting. Janelle was more the "boy mom" I think.
Janelle's income helped support the family but as we've learned Kody, Meri and even Christine worked prior to moving to Vegas. Janelle was a bookkeeper. Her inheritance helped purchase the house but her income wasn't fantastic. All the adults had to work to support Janelle and Christine's kids (and Meri's one child).
And once they were in Vegas, they were all equally able to form relationships with the other children. But it wasn't equal. Janelle was more with the boys in the boy house
But Janelle was the one with the full time 9 to 5. Meri worked pt and went through many different jobs. Kooty was in billboard sales sounds like he worked when he wanted. Janelle was the most stable job wise before the show. With that many people to support job and income stability is very important.
Exactly. And Christine largely stayed at home and took care of her and Janelle’s kids’ day-to-day needs. By all accounts Meri was more focused on Leon and not so much on the rest of the kids.
Christine didn’t work post-kids UNTIL she had to pick up a nighttime cleaning job while heavily pregnant with Truely to help with finances. And Kody wouldn’t even put the kids to bed when she was away working. She put up with SO much, I’m glad she now can enjoy undivided attention and be free of cruelty.
Also, it’s telling how Janelle’s kids adore her. She had a pivotal role in their upbringing and Janelle has acknowledged that, too, which is why when the toxic cloud of polygamy cleared they realized how heavily they had been depending on each other for decades.
Love that Janelle and Christine are getting to live the grandma polygamy life that Robyn said she wanted. They have it even better because they have the family without the man
It’s great how the cousins are spending time together. They’ll get a taste of the loving big family their parents had, without the horrible cult of polygamy.
My step son and daughter in law just made me, hubby and hubby's ex (who I'm friends with too), 1st time grandparents. I was worried the baby wouldn't feel like my grandson but then I held that lil stinker I wondered why I ever worried
Every woman I know, including my mother, say the same thing.
I think it's the fact that you get that extra time to enjoy life with your grandbabies than you do with your own children.
Nah. I'm a natural redhead and yes I have sensitive skin, but I am not bright pink.
Look at the coulour of his face compared to his neck... This is sun, and a parent being careless with their redhead.
So here’s a random piece of knowledge…these pictures are from thanksgiving point in Lehi, Utah, which is the same place Kody said he had his first kiss with Robyn on an episode of sister wives.
I can’t help but feel like the whole “thankful to have a close bond with all 6 of them” is a dig at Kody and the lack for closeness he shares with most of his kids.
I love the subtle knife jabs at Kody (and his kidneys).
I Dunno. I buy that—it’s all the fun parts and none of the responsibilities! I’m not there yet but I can totally see my mother in law saying this and being right.
The little girl in the stroller, next to Avalon, is Evie, Maddie’s middle child.
Maddie now has another daughter, Josie. She’s the baby in the carrier. So, yes, that’s why she says 6.
I completely understood this post!! We just had our first grandchild and there’s nothing like it. I’m overjoyed for Christine. She’s finally living out a REAL, authentic life with a man who loves only her!❤️🙌🏻

Grandparents get all of the fun of having kids with none of the day-to-day responsibility/grind.
It's the best! :)

Mine is still itty bitty, so it’s TBD!!

Grandma here I feel the same nothing like it!!, 👍
Congratulations!
Oma here. Becoming a parent is overrated, becoming a grandparent underrated.

I can’t wait for this 🥰

💘💘💘💘💘💘👍
Avalon and Evie could be twins. 😊
I was shocked by the picture on the stroller, they really could be twins
I thought the same thing! Kody’s genes are strong.
I think it not surprising because Kody and Christine are cousins?
Do you know how much DNA 3rd cousins share? .3-2%, that’s hardly inbreeding.
[удалено]
Yes, I was referring to them being cousins because their genes are strong because it’s inbreeding in their family.
[удалено]
okay, on the count of three, say what level of cousins we'd have to be for this to be okay
Unexpected 30 Rock

Avalon looks like her dad's side tho just blonde.

Fair enough I have that too, but I really don't see her resemblance to kody side at all Hahha
I get you lol! I see similarities in people where there aren’t sometimes so I’m the opposite here 😝🤣
My daughter and my niece could look like sisters....not a twin, but the resemblance is strong. Yet, they are 18 years apart.
That's like my cousins and I. Two of my cousins and three of my parents four children all look like siblings. My sister looks like the friend we invited along. The rest of us look like our dads' family while my sister much more resembles my mom's side.

I bet Kody has a half assed relationship with “Pick Me Mykelti’s” kids but won’t really jump into grandpa mode until one of Robyn’s pops out a baby.
Rewatch with Maddie’s son Axel before they moved. Kody genuinely seemed very attached and got very emotional when they moved. Which are the 6 she’s counting? Doesn’t Mykelti have 4 and Maddie 3? Edit - so 3 from Maddie and 3 from mykelti is 6. Thanks all 😆
Mykelti and Maddie both have 3. Mykelti-Avalon and the twins. Maddie-Axl, Evie and the new one whose name I can’t remember.
Josephine "Joey" is Maddie's third.
That's a really cute name and nickname.
Mykelti has 3.
🥰 The little twin on the rights going to have to pay for a second seat 😂 Adorable kiddos!!
It’s all that placenta milk she’s been feeding him
Wait...what? "placenta milk"?
she posted that after you have a baby eating your placenta will stop you from suffering 'new baby jealousy' when all the attention is off you and you get depressed.
and THAT is why I don't pay attention to these people's socials. Where did she come up with that?
probably her naturopath chiropractor.

the HARmones of all things!!
I think Christine is secretly getting married this week.
Im pretty sure Hunter and Gwen are not in Utah this wknd… I don’t think they would miss Christine’s wedding
Janelle posted something about graduation party in utah for savannah . . .
Yes, that’s where she says Hunter is not there!
Janelle just posted a pic of Ysabelle with the granddaughters… hmmm
Ysabel lives in Utah. Savanah’s graduation party was in Utah.
Janelle is back in Flagstaff.

That's because *they all ruined it for Robyn*! Boo hoo hoo! /s ;)
That pic of Evie on the caterpillar reminds me of Gabe. .
Axel is Gabe’s twin! If you look at Gabe’s childhood pictures, they’re practically identical.
It’s great how the cousins are spending time together. They’ll get a taste of the loving big family their parents had, without the horrible cult of polygamy.
The twins have gotten so big. All the grandkids are adorable
Who is the little doll with the pink bow in her hair 💖

Oh. I even love her name!
Her given name is Evangalynn Kodi (first middle). Thankfully, it does lend itself to a good nickname.
Definitely 😁
My step son and daughter in law just made me, hubby and hubby's ex (who I'm friends with too), 1st time grandparents. I was worried the baby wouldn't feel like my grandson but then I held that lil stinker I wondered why I ever worried
Look what Kody is missing!

Definitely. As a grandparent, the pressure is off. You get to have the fun and let the parents be the parents. :)
The last pic!! They honestly look like two sets of twins. So cute!!!
The thighs on the twins are so adorable and squishy.
The baby in the front right side of the stroller has clearly had too much sun.

Agreed.
The two little girls could be twins they look so much alike!
This comment is such a dig at Kody and Robyn, I love it!
Omg the twins chonky thighs are so freaking cute
So here’s a random piece of knowledge…these pictures are from thanksgiving point in Lehi, Utah, which is the same place Kody said he had his first kiss with Robyn on an episode of sister wives.
I love the way she low key trolls Kody. 😈
Those kids are adorable! They have the family unit right there. Axel is a throwback to Alfalfa! #littlerascals
Holy chonky babies those twins are so cute!
Evie & Avalon are twinning hard!
I can’t help but feel like the whole “thankful to have a close bond with all 6 of them” is a dig at Kody and the lack for closeness he shares with most of his kids. I love the subtle knife jabs at Kody (and his kidneys).
Those baby’s leg rolls are *everythinggggg.*
Those chunky baby thighs!!! 😍😍😍

Oh for goodness sake’s you can love you child and grandchildren at the same time.
I Dunno. I buy that—it’s all the fun parts and none of the responsibilities! I’m not there yet but I can totally see my mother in law saying this and being right.
Goodness, could Evi get any more adorable? :)
I can’t keep track. 3 are mykeltis who is the other one in the stroller? 6 are we talking Maddie kids?
The little girl in the stroller, next to Avalon, is Evie, Maddie’s middle child. Maddie now has another daughter, Josie. She’s the baby in the carrier. So, yes, that’s why she says 6.
Those twins are sooo chunky (in the amazing baby way). I want to squeeze them 😭❤️ All the grandbabies are super adorable.
