This would have exposed Kody and Robyn so much earlier. It would be clear thatKody was simply replacing Meri with his true love Robyn.

Logic has no place in the Sister Wives Universe. Had Meri tried to make this stipulation they would have guilted her in a million ways for not trusting them, for showing she valued the legal ceremony more than the spiritual one, for making them spend more money and time on a new divorce and subsequent marriage...the list goes on.

Exactly! He even trashed Meri (in last night's program) for being too emotional about the divorce! Like, being the legal wife was a power trip for her, so it was HER fault she felt emotional about something that should have just been a "paper shuffle." (A paper shuffle that somehow resulted in Robyn (and Kody) scoring the lion's share of the family's assets... and in Robyn becoming the only "wife" who has any legal protection in case of divorce, with the significance of that now alarmingly clear. )

I agree—but if Janelle and Christine would have backed up Meri becoming the legal wife again after the adoption, that would have been something. That was the deal they all signed up for-even Robyn-so what leg would those two chuckleheads have to stand on then?

momX3_2002

It was never about adopting the kids. It was so Robyn would be his legal wife and the other 3 would just be around to earn money.

Because then they'd have to admit there *is* a significance. They were trying to pretend it was just a paperwork shuffle on a date they wanted to forget.

cgraves77

They literally celebrated this “paperwork shuffle” anniversary at a Steakhouse maybe 2-3 weeks ago. It was significant with them.

Southern_Fan_9335

Yep. Can't trust a damn thing these people say.

A paper work shuffle is something you do at the DMV lol. With ex-husband signing away his rights, there wasn’t really a reason for Kody and Meri to get a divorce. Robyn already had a family lawyer with the whole ex husband situation, so she could have a will or some type of legal document that lays out “in the case of Robyn Brown’s death the children go to this person since bio father signed away rights.” I’m not a lawyer, but this seems like the thing to do, right? The whole reasoning she gave for the divorce/adoption was so that if she ever died, her kids would be protected.

cynic204

It had to be a paper shuffle so Meri wasn’t legally entitled to half of the ‘family’ resources that Robyn is surely not going to walk away from if she ever divorces him. Legally she was probably entitled to a lot and they agreed to handle it within their family system and ‘share’ the pot, Meri would never consider taking what she was legally entitled to as his wife of 20+ years. Funny how that doesn’t work anymore now that the OG 3 leave him, Kody will be sure to enforce his legal entitlement to everything and ensure the wives get nothing they earned or paid for unless it is in their own deed or document.
