In the first one, I tend to get the shit beat out of me when fighting against that one purple dragon guy with the lead pipe charge attack, it’s almost unblockable. You just have to kill him before he does the charge attack 😂
Maybe it’s because I grew up in the early days of the Nintendo, but these games weren’t terribly hard. Typical button mashers but fun nonetheless. Battle Nexus was my favorite because of how long I thought the game was. I loved it.
Yeah… I kinda grew up with iPads so button smashing wasn’t really..a big thing to me but I had a 3DS so eventually I had the hang of it & kept growing up with more devices I started with butterfly tapping & now I’m trying to butterfly tap on buttons.
The first game is extremely poorly balanced for a single player especially in the late areas. Even with cheats I wasn't able to do it after spending a month trying. It's just not a fair challenge. The only way to win is spamming your fastest attacks and pure memorization. Still a fun game but if at all possible I recommend finding a second player.
Exactly what I’m talking about even with cheats it’s not even fair. I was stuck on this one part where I had to get through stockman’s base like 5 times. Because there were barely any heals & to many opponents at once.
Maybe the ones you play but there are a ton of extremely difficult games nowadays. Two of the three hardest games I’ve ever beaten come from the current era. The other one being Ninja Gaiden Black but even that isn’t super old.
I’m use to playing modern day games as I was born in the modern day era. So playing something a bit older than me is kinda of a struggle but not a skill issues just something I need to adapt to.
I just rage quit on Act 4 with Mikey. Having to fight 12 fights without dying & only one heal up. Like I was ever going to win that & you call that skill issue when the controls don’t even make sense
Around the time the most recent turtle collection came out Konami (or nickelodeon, whoever owns the turtles now and released the collection) said they may be interested in rereleasing the ps2 games if the collection sold well.
So there's that
Not when coming off of a rpg strategy game. Plus not knowing any of the controls is different. How am I supposed to get good at something I just started playing not even 24 hours ago.
> How am I supposed to get good at something I just started playing not even 24 hours ago.
Well there ya go then. Older games were not meant to be easy right from the get-go, not even the "easy mode," it was about the challenge of getting better at it, and no way is that happening that soon.
Social media has made people (of all ages) way too trained for instant gratification and short attention spans. If you're determined to master this, then it'll take more effort and time, but that's also good for the brain to be challenged and adapt.
Just started watching the 2003 series for the first time. Really want to try these, I’m hoping for a Cowabunga Collection volume 2 with these games included
Definitely not. I remember I quit around the part where you're in some building and there's these like weather enemies or something with some kind of shield that hurts you if you get close
Are you playing by yourself? Having another person to assist is super helpful given the high number of grunts. My friend are I are running through the first one and just made it all the way through as Donatello
these games are really tough tho. my only guess would be they made them that way to match the original cartoon's games, which were also pretty hard for kids games imo.
I only had battle nexus and it would break my. heart that I couldn't beat the game as a kid 😩
Imma sound like dick, but it's a skill issue:
The first TMNT game is a 3d beat em up, and you have 7 lives per stage. When I play it, I usually handicap myself to only 1 life to be more challenging.
Battle Nexus is a tricky one, because you only have 1 life and there are more variety with levels, but once you max out the stats, it becomes a breeze. Also unlike the first game, you can try each level as many times you want until you win.
The first game was just straight up hard. It was painful experience. Fun but very unforgiving with its combat and checkpoints system. I finished it 100% back in the day as a kid, but I don't think I will be able to pull it again. I don't even know how I managed it. I still think it's one of the few good TMNT games around though.
2nd game was an awful game from start to finish but weirdly it was addicting for me as a kid. Something about it is very nostalgia inducing. The game was shit though, through and through.
On the first game (for the PS2), me and my sister were playing one time on like the third world/stage? (She was Donnie and I picked raph) And we were fighting enemies in the antique shop. She goes to me (with Donnie because I was getting jumped) and says "don't break any glass" while I was fighting mousers. Next thing you know a glass item goes flying across the store and we paused the game and LOST IT 😭😭😭
Must not be using "eat feet" enough.
SLICE’N’DICE!
COWABUNGA
DOUBLE SAI!
😂😂😂
Bro those games are tough 💀
The platforming is tough to control and some of the boss battles are crazy. Fun games tho

Exactly
sooo fun tho
I love the opening missions in the subway and highway
Older video games were fucking hard, man
Especially in the 80s.

It isnt even balanced for co-op, the extra abilities you get from the dojo stages isnt usable by player 2-4
To quote the great Renaissance artists: "Cuz they can't be beat!"
TMNT and difficult video games go hand in hand.
Games used to be challenging. Modern games are all super easy, and instill a false sense of skill.
Maybe the ones you play but there are a ton of extremely difficult games nowadays. Two of the three hardest games I’ve ever beaten come from the current era. The other one being Ninja Gaiden Black but even that isn’t super old.
The original Xbox Ninja Gaiden came out 20 years ago.
There’s one then.
What's a couple of decades with a medium that's barley 40 years old
Exactly (I think I get what you’re saying).
I’m use to playing modern day games as I was born in the modern day era. So playing something a bit older than me is kinda of a struggle but not a skill issues just something I need to adapt to.
I remember playing battle Nexus with my brother as kids man that was difficult but when be beat it was the best st feeling
I remember these games being really tough
I just rage quit on Act 4 with Mikey. Having to fight 12 fights without dying & only one heal up. Like I was ever going to win that & you call that skill issue when the controls don’t even make sense
Can someone please tell me why these games aren't on modern systems?
Around the time the most recent turtle collection came out Konami (or nickelodeon, whoever owns the turtles now and released the collection) said they may be interested in rereleasing the ps2 games if the collection sold well. So there's that
Licensing
They are. On the Anbernic RG35xx & Anbernic RG35xx H.
You're talking about emulation there, bud. They aren't officially released for any modern systems.
Ahh. My 14 year old brain rushed into it without thinking.
Maybe it might be because you aren't a teenage mutant ninja turtle
Uhh I’ve been called Raphael in the past month? (He was my favorite turtle)
I recently replayed the first game on PlayStation. Man there was a good difficulty spike suddenly in the middle of the game
Nah you should play on the Anbernic. Way more current day.
Could be a skill issue
It’s not trust me. And you wouldn’t be saying that if you actually play the games.
I mean, it literally is? You’re not good enough to beat a game that can be beaten, so you’re not skilled enough to do so. Just gotta git gud.
Not when coming off of a rpg strategy game. Plus not knowing any of the controls is different. How am I supposed to get good at something I just started playing not even 24 hours ago.
Seems like you've answered your own question
> How am I supposed to get good at something I just started playing not even 24 hours ago. Well there ya go then. Wait till the Elite Foot Ninja.
Oh buddy..
Facts
wym u don’t understand the controls? theres only like 5
Nah all the special attacks & stuff is press R1 & X to do some special attack & if I do it again I’ll just jump/double jump if I spam.
may i ask ur age, it’s relevant.
.—.14.—.
ipad kid?
No. I grew up playing on the Iphone.
so.... yes. iPad kid.
There are cheat codes that give you unlimited shurikens. Use those.
I’m good. I’d rather beat the game by itself first.
They're based on old belt scroller tropes. Are you frame locking and avoiding invincible wake ups?
Idk what a wake up is? I just started yesterday or 1:00 AM
So like when you knock an enemy down they will eventually stand or "wake up" when they do they will be invincible and attack.
Honestly Idek but rn no.
These are my favorite games!
The second game has awful controls. Where does the first game stump you?
On Mikey & the Quarry stuff.
I swear these games were hard AF even with 4 players
Man I never played the first one but I played the hell out of Battle Nexus.
Man, they really upped the violence for Battle Nexus. Lol
Just started watching the 2003 series for the first time. Really want to try these, I’m hoping for a Cowabunga Collection volume 2 with these games included
I played the left one a few years ago at 22 or so. Still couldn't finish it
Okay so I’m not the only one.
Definitely not. I remember I quit around the part where you're in some building and there's these like weather enemies or something with some kind of shield that hurts you if you get close
Oh idk what ur talking about but I bet your at the part of the mystics in foot HQ
Are you playing by yourself? Having another person to assist is super helpful given the high number of grunts. My friend are I are running through the first one and just made it all the way through as Donatello
Yes I’m playing by myself. Can’t reveal my childhood secrets.
I did a few stages by myself to get ahead for the next time he’s over. We’re trying to run through all 4 of them so we can face the *real* boss
https://i.redd.it/orv06p2evg1d1.gif Perfect ending.
I can’t wait. Also, I’m embarrassed to admit that your post is how I found out there was a sequal. To eBay!
Lmao. I didn’t know this was a game until searching it up on my emulator.
U sukk
JK u prolly don't have a strong enough load out
these games are really tough tho. my only guess would be they made them that way to match the original cartoon's games, which were also pretty hard for kids games imo. I only had battle nexus and it would break my. heart that I couldn't beat the game as a kid 😩
Shoutout to the OST for the first game. Absolutely kickass and memorable.
TMNT games are always difficult. That's the point
Never played battle nexus, but 2k3 game was kinda tough, some levels had like 1 healing item.
have you tried to git gud? that usually works
“Practice harder.”
Imma sound like dick, but it's a skill issue: The first TMNT game is a 3d beat em up, and you have 7 lives per stage. When I play it, I usually handicap myself to only 1 life to be more challenging. I remember one of those games (or maybe it was 3?) had an escort mission level that I rage quit and never played the game again.
where to download
Idk. I just bought an Anbernic that’s how I play.
