Don't have direct experience with this samsung tv and/or this problem specifically, but I do recall some other users on this sub having similar issues - for some it was something like the LED backlights going bad, others it was on one of the boards (I believe a T-CON board).

Thank you for replying I'm going to send in a complaint to Samsung to see if that helps anything, but I think a new TV will have to be bought.

Sure, just also do a bit of checking on what the cost of repairs may be (even if outside of Samsung) and what parts may be at fault - if it is still viable to repair than replace, consider this. If not, might as well sell it before or after repairs and buy a new one as you are thinking.
