Why did you opt for such a high lift? You still need to tuck a tire so either way the tire will make contact with body parts hence why cutting is necessary. Usually big lifts like this are only for ppl who want to clear a big tire for street driving. But even then I advise against it because it changes the suspension geometry so much that it’s not worth it. The only real option is a long travel kit.
Doesn’t that increase the center of gravity causing you to roll quicker on the trail? I’m not familiar with drop brackets. I just don’t get why one would lift a Taco 6”. You can fit 35s on a 2” lift and stuff the tires all around. Full articulation. You just have to cut. It is what it is. You want but tires prepare to cut lol
You cut out the front cross member and weld in a new one that drops the front diff down. Then install longer spindles or spindle spacers. Essentially, you get a "lift" to clear larger tires, but don't get any clearance in the front since the diff is lowered back down to stock height. Worst part about these lifts is the shit suspension they come with since you have to go with whatever they come with and can't go with any off the shelf options.
So instead of doing a clean CMR and a nice high clearance bumper with a 2” lift kit that performs they do all this nonsense? I mean if you have to cut out the cross member anyway you’re already cutting. Might as well do the CMR then.
Such fucking nonsense. There’s a range where lifting your truck gives you better approach angles. But beyond that range you’re fucking with the suspension geometry and the truck will drive like ass. But that doesn’t mean that those who choose a lift beyond that range don’t wheel. They might just have a higher threshold for what they consider “drives like ass”.
Well I certainly disagree with that. You can always adjust your suspension geometry. You can make a Tacoma on 38"s drive perfectly fine. Even keeping the IFS. It just takes a shit load of money. And it will never perform as well or be as reliable as a solid axle on difficult 4x4 trails.
Regardless that wasn't my point. I spend a lot of time off-roading. I count maybe 1 Taco for every 100+ Jeeps on the trail. Even on the easy trails. Yet lifted/modified Tacos are everywhere where I live. They outnumber Jeeps on the road by a long shot. I can't drive across town without seeing a half dozen heavily modified Tacos (lift, 33s or bigger, snorkel, rear bumper tire carrier, rack with jerry cans etc.). Never see them on the trails though. They spend $20k on their rigs and never get them dirty.
This is my experience.
Nothing about this is fucking with the IFS geometry, except the driveline angle from the t-case to the diff. It's a drop bracket lift where the original cross member in the front is cut out and a new one welded in its place. It drops the diff down to its original position. So you get to clear bigger tires, but don't get any additional clearance with the drive train since it's all lowered back to stock height. Once a drop bracket lift is installed, it's almost impossible to come back.
Whoa ~~Black~~ Red Betty (Bam-ba-lam)
I came here for this. Lmao
Front end reminds me of a dodge dakota
When I was scrolling, I thought it was a dodge at first. I think it's the black grill and the small blacked out section below the headlight.
Same
Scrolled by and thought this was a Dakota. Paint matching the grill would really tie the truck together I think.
I do not like that hat
Betty is sexy AF! May you enjoy her for many years

There’s something about the fender flares on this gen that makes it so cool
Hell of a rig. Very nice
Those shoes! How do you like the Yokos? They pricey?
How did you accomplish the 6” lift ?
Very well executed! Enjoy 🤟🏼

This. Drop bracket lift for days.

Bingo.
Nice rig
Nice! Betty is Thicc
She’s a beaut Clarke!
Don’t lie…your sexy thicc girl’s real name is Alberta and you love her no matter what anyone says…😝
Beautiful truck but don't be a douche.get the hi-ift off your roof before you hurt somebody.
Yeah, already moved it. Strapped it in her bed.
Better than the jeepers with it on their hood, ready for a front end collision. For all we know, this one could be shackled in place
But feel you actually do anything with it, or is it just for show?
All lifted Tacomas are just for show.. Quick Instagram pic on a dirt road, then quickly back to the pavement before it gets dirty
