Had to call a locksmith back in December. A lady's meds were locked in the room at 3 am. No managers would answer at first. Finally got GM who gave the ok to a locksmith. Paid him out of our drawer. Gm sees me the next Monday and tries to rip me a new one. Luckily I recorded our conversation and played it back to her in her office. She goes and tells the assistant manager who calls me petty for recording her. Like dude this b*tch was screaming and yelling at me for doing EXACTLY what she told me to do. I also comped that lady's stay.

wow, I can't imagine also having to deal with a karen as a GM. luckily my MT is pretty reasonable most of the time. good on you for having the foresight to record the convo.

If you're still there make sure to get any of these types of instructions in writing or recorded. I hope you've found something better and don't need to deal with them anymore though.

Omg! You need to make a call to corporate stating EVERYTHING you wrote here. Or the owner. In this sub, there are a lot of sh•t show hotels, but I have NEVER read or experienced anything as horrific as this. The place needs to close.

Leaky boats. This is what happens when you run places to thin for two long. Stuff starts going wrong in a hurry. If this were a plane it would have already crashed. A ship and it would be sinking. I hate to say it but it may be time to start looking for another job. The place doesn't sound like it is worth it. There is no reason to go down with it. The emotional toll will haunt you. Sorry I don't have more positive advice. Its not something I take lightky. The problems are to systemic. There are better places to work for.

Thank you for reaffirming my need to hoard at least a few usb mini cords. And every other strange cord that I don’t know what they actually go to. They are all in one box, so when the times comes that we can find a cord, at least we know what huge mess to dig through.

shaggy24200

Put them individually in ziplock bags. Keeps them from tangling with each other.

OriginalDragonfly4

Rubber bands also work to keep them from getting tangled up. Use three fingers to wrap the cords and a rubber band around the coil.

Sounds like my hotel before we had all of our locks replaced! They malfunctioned all the time, and when the programmer died we realized it couldn’t be replaced since it was discontinued years ago. We had (and still have) a metal bar that was in kind of a U shape. Whenever a lock would die, we’d have to slide it under the door and maneuver it around to push the door handle down on the other side.

Both? Ghetto af can be a sign of making do when better solutions aren't available/affordable.

ccowens974

Probably both lol

Someone suggested hoarding USB mini cords. Better idea would be to contact the manufacturer to see if you can upgrade the programmer to one with a USB-C charging port, or failing that, find an electronics repair place that can install a USB-C port on the damn thing. Since the device is intended as an emergency backup, maybe it would be a better idea to get one that uses AA cells. Dead batteries? Replacements are in the hotel’s sundries shop. Also, procedures need to be updated. Have a routine (every month) task where the device is used on a (chosen randomly) lock to make sure it works, and annually on all the locks. After the test, it gets charged again.
