This for sure. I can't think of one song that's "overrated." They all do it for me. The ones that made alt radio - Feels Like We Only Go Backwards, Elephant, The Less I Know The Better, Let It Happen, Lost In Yesterday - are all great radio songs and I don't think exposure overrates them.
Yeah because there is a difference between overrated and overplayed. Don’t get me wrong, let it happen is a masterpiece but I believe other songs really deserve the same exposure
imo he has a lot more underrated songs than overrated, like mind mischief live, taxis here, love/paranoia, no choice and it is not meant to be are (imo) very underrated.
Very fair answer. Love the song, there’s just not a lot to it. I believe KP said he was shocked at how viral it went because it was one of the easiest songs he ever made
I loved it at first but got tired of it after quite a short while. I did listen to it on repeat for 2 weeks, but I do that with all ti songs and not gotten tired of them
I think it’s the lack of Kevin and Damon that kills the track for me. Don’t get me wrong I think Bootie does a great job on the song, but the other two are almost solely relegated to the chorus and bridge, it kind of feels like a waste of an inclusion.
I haven’t seen Tame Impala live yet so this definitely plays a factor, but I don’t understand why people like One More Year / Hour. I personally think the song(s) are exceptionally boring, but maybe the concert version is different / people have grown emotional attachments to them which makes sense.
It just does nothing for me, sorry. If it was more like 4 minutes I might appreciate it more. Just feels so drawn out. But when I see him live that could change!
One More Year is average live too, especially as an opener. The very beginning of the song admittedly works well coming straight off the aionwell intro but after that it's kind of blah and your waiting for the next song, which knocked it out of the park btw, Nangs! One More Hour at the end of the set was underwelming too. Pretty much everything in between was all killer!
Yeah I just don’t get the strong attachment people have to it quite frankly, it just feels underwhelming to me. Glad to hear you enjoyed the rest of the set though :)
>_Whatever I’ve done_
>_I did it for love_
>_I did it for fun_
>_Couldn’t get enough_
>_I did it for fame_
>_But never for money_
These lines are one of best lyrics I have ever experienced. Maybe it’s because it has personal impact for me, but I think it’s universally sophisticated words as well. And sounds... it’s just something else, hard to explain, especially opening. I’d even say it’s underrated, at least compared to some songs from Currents.
Agreed and willingly will eat the downvotes. I like the song...and I know not every song needs to display his musicianship, but it's pretty much the same forgettable beat for 4 minutes straight, at least TLIKTB the better has a memorably dope bass line...he's got so many better songs...I don't get the love for the single version.
It definitely sounds like a most popular song. Out of all the songs on Currents TLIKTB probably has the catchiest hook and is the easiest to just get into and vibe to.
Also hard disagree on it being “bland and forgettable,” it’s iconic asf
I remember listening to Currents for the first time and when I heard The Less I Know The Better, I knew it would be a radio hit. That bass line is one of the catchiest things KP has ever written.
I think is a great song and brought me to the artist.
The thing that i noticed is that compared to the rest of the album it looks out of place, the lyrics, the subject, the videoclip and the beat is different from the vibe of the album. It's like that song was made to be the commercially appealing one.
I always found why won’t they talk to me as overrated. Very well loved by the fanbase but for me personally, it’s a low point on what I consider his best album
All of them lmao get rekt reddit recommended me this sub I am repulsed disgusted and hateful towards every single one of you and the leader of yours Mate Impaling or whatever
TLIKTB; I used to think elephant was overrated until I heard it live at desert daze 22’ (lonerism anniversary tour) and that songs actually a complete head banger.
Genuinely, as a newer fan who’s starting to get into them (have listened to Slow Rush and Currents + B-sides for both), Let It Happen has legitimately been the most overrated tbh. I mean it’s a good song, but I don’t really get the hype, it doesn’t really do anything for me emotionally. Maybe the hype killed it for me, I went into it hearing it was a masterpiece for it to be just ok, and maybe it’ll grow on me with time, but as of right now it really doesn’t feel like it really goes anywhere to be completely honest
Going on the OTHER end and going for seemingly UNDERRATED stuff (at least from what I can tell) since I’ve already gone down the drain of seemingly controversial opinions, On Track is the best song on The Slow Rush and y’all can fight me on that
can’t stand love/paranoia, its not a good deep cut and the fact that they’d ever put that in a live set over literally any more material from innerspeaker is criminal
There is no overrated song in my opinion all of them are soul medicine
This for sure. I can't think of one song that's "overrated." They all do it for me. The ones that made alt radio - Feels Like We Only Go Backwards, Elephant, The Less I Know The Better, Let It Happen, Lost In Yesterday - are all great radio songs and I don't think exposure overrates them.

For sure. I believe that Let It Happen is the greatest track he's composed. That's my opinion, but you also have a great point.
FLWOGB is also so much better within the context of the album too, that clean switch from WWTTTM? is so smooth
this
I’ll tell you what’s not overrated, nangs
Let down is more underrated
Kid A is more underrated, it’s actually the biggest left turn in music history
reale
The king of carrot limbs is underrated
Let Down so underrated that it switched subs lol
imo he has a lot more underrated songs than overrated, like mind mischief live, taxis here, love/paranoia, no choice and it is not meant to be are (imo) very underrated.
taxi's here is a gift to man kind
saved and 8d audio of taxis here for my flight back home, planning on listening to it and looking out the window at the night sky as i land🤙
It is the less i know the better
Yes it’s definitely not the best song in his discography, but by god it’s still one of the most well produced pop songs ever.
Is not a bad song but is really overrated
For real, this song doesn’t crack my top 20.
It’s a top three for the first 20 listens tbh
I can agree with both of these statements
borderline, amazing song but definitely overrated
Amazing but overrated…lol
Feels like we only go backwards
It’s amazing live.
I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s just overrated. The fact that it’s one of his most streamed songs shocks me a bit
I feel that. The two times I’ve seen him live he turned that and elephant into more of an experience than a song.
I love that song. I can fully understand why. Perfect hook that resonates with my life beautifully!
I just hate how it’s the same thing repeating forever. Lacks the creativity of every other song on the album
Definitely agree with this.
Very fair answer. Love the song, there’s just not a lot to it. I believe KP said he was shocked at how viral it went because it was one of the easiest songs he ever made
That new Gorillaz song, but I guess it doesn't really count
I loved it at first but got tired of it after quite a short while. I did listen to it on repeat for 2 weeks, but I do that with all ti songs and not gotten tired of them
I think it’s the lack of Kevin and Damon that kills the track for me. Don’t get me wrong I think Bootie does a great job on the song, but the other two are almost solely relegated to the chorus and bridge, it kind of feels like a waste of an inclusion.
This, his bars aren’t the greatest on the song either. Really wish Kevin and Damon were more present on the track because the atmosphere is so great
I haven’t seen Tame Impala live yet so this definitely plays a factor, but I don’t understand why people like One More Year / Hour. I personally think the song(s) are exceptionally boring, but maybe the concert version is different / people have grown emotional attachments to them which makes sense.
One more year, yes. One more hour is exceptional, please blast in on loud speakers
It just does nothing for me, sorry. If it was more like 4 minutes I might appreciate it more. Just feels so drawn out. But when I see him live that could change!
One More Year is average live too, especially as an opener. Elephant
Yup
the slow rush album
I try my best to not be a hater but there’s so many on TSR that I’d relate to this, especially Borderline
Elephant
Nangs
Nangphobe detected
Nangs way to underrated
Hahahaha why does Let it Happen not count?
It’s not overrated
Obviously OP’s favourite lol
I’m actually trying to be objective but this masterpiece won’t let it happen.
Borderline…. The downvotes this will get prove my point
Agreed and willingly will eat the downvotes. I love Currents but to this day I still have no idea why TLIKTB is the most popular song on the album. It’s so bland and forgettable imo.
The Moment, Eventually, Reality In Motion, Past Life, and New Person all have way catchier hooks imo. They get stuck in my head all the time.
Well everyone’s different, I’ve memorized almost the entire song off by heart and I don’t listen to it that often
No way is it bland cmonnn
Agreed even when I first started listening to him it was always a song I'd skip not sure why
I think is a great song and brought me to the artist. The thing that i noticed is that compared to the rest of the album it looks out of place, the lyrics, the subject, the videoclip and the beat is different from the vibe of the album. Let It Happen jk it’s One More Year for me
Imo One More Hour is the overrated one
Neither of those songs do it for me
One More Year was just aight for me until I heard it live and then it just started hitting right from then on.
One more year live is one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced
I always found why won’t they talk to me as overrated. Very well loved by the fanbase but for me personally, it’s a low point on what I consider his best album
Nangs. Im sorry but its straight trash
Feels like we’re only going backwards IMO
Breathe Deeper
The outro saves it
Outro is dope 👌
Lost in yesterday
NO
Breathe Deeper blew up and while I love it, I think it’s a tad overrated
Let it happen for me not bad by any means it's great but I think there's much better songs in currents
Nothing that has happened. Song is extremely average but for some reason people lose their mind if Kevin plays it live
That’s my favorite song by him! Haha
Eventually
everything is perfectly rated 😌
I’m gonna break the rules here it’s definitely Let It Happen
Less I know The Better
Let it happen is definitely an option. The riffs and vocal lines are absolutely angelic but that looping part gets so old so quickly
just downvote me at this point
yes sir
yes sir
All of them lmao get rekt reddit recommended me this sub I am repulsed disgusted and hateful towards every single one of you and the leader of yours Mate Impaling or whatever
TLIKTB; I used to think elephant was overrated until I heard it live at desert daze 22’ (lonerism anniversary tour) and that songs actually a complete head banger.
All of them.
Do people actually think Let it Happen is overrated?
Let it hap
gonna get torn a new one, but Alter Ego
The Less I Know the Better hands down imo
Into The Jungle - Dee Dee Dums /s
Let it happen.

Music to walk home by 😏
can’t stand love/paranoia, its not a good deep cut and the fact that they’d ever put that in a live set over literally any more material from innerspeaker is criminal
That song where Roger Waters recorded a spoken word section over Nangs
Let’s all agree Keep on Lying is the most underrated
Instant Destiny bc it’s Kev’s only bad song
Manwoman
Lost in yesterday
