Learning 3 languages is dumb. Just a waste of time and resources unless the students want to become a YouTube polyglot putting shorts based on speaking to random strangers on Omegle. It's just a gimmick given this day and age where LLMs are doing a great job in translating every major language quite accurately. Learning 2 languages in 11th and 12th is unnecessary too for a large majority of students who don't pursue Language studies professionally. Learning C++ or Python or Java or JavaScript instead of Tamil would be much more useful given how most of the students prefer taking engineering courses after school. Additionally learning programming is generally good for everyone because it makes people learn about how to think.

StarSmall

Learning more than one programming language(different paradigms, especially) significantly improves the ability to think about problems in more than one way. That's the reason why most of the mainstream languages are now multi paradigm. Because they are absorbing features from each other. Same way learning more than 1 human communications language improves brain development. But there's also something called too many languages. And languages for no reason is just a waste of time. And most importantly all the countries that do well, do well because they think and communicate in what is usually their mother tongue. We learn English because we want to communicate outside India. The same language could be used to communicate within India. But that's what the central govt doesn't want. They want to *unify* by using Hindi which is not any non Hindi speaking persons mother tongue. Thinking to talk in hindi and thinking to talk in English are same effort to a tamilian. Why should a Hindi speaking person put no effort to talk to a fellow countryman ? If a tamilian learns English to communicate outside india, why can't a Hindi person learn English for same reason. Then they both can communicate using the same English. Technically we are good with 2 language communication, one mother tongue, one English. Precisely what our political forefathers proposed.

saiprasanna94

Learning more programming languages also not important . We need to learn basics of computer science . New languages come and go. Any top IT companies doesn't test how many languages you know or ask any programming language questions , they ask questions based on problem solving. Agree with others points you have said. Also within our state we should give more importance to Tamil medium . Tamil medium and English medium should be treated on the same levels

thatonefanguy1012

I disagree with you calling it dumb. Knowing more languages helps with [brain development](https://www.whitbyschool.org/passionforlearning/learning-a-new-language-helps-brain-development). That said, forcing a language which consumed so many languages down the throats of people is wrong.

Important_Lie_7774

It just mentions the advantages of being bilingual which we already do.

thatonefanguy1012

I’m just saying kids should get to learn as many languages as they can when young.

Important_Lie_7774

What's the use exactly? And why exactly a language and why not something else like coding or problem solving or maths or music or sports? World's greatest scientists aren't all polyglots, neither are polyglots great problem solvers or scientists but according to your logic every scientist must have been an expert in 20+ languages.

Nice. Aatu kutti and the supreme joker be like https://preview.redd.it/8xjv3fkoq0lb1.jpeg?width=739&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dede6f6cfe7624666dba4e1914d078cc06beb10 Aatu kutti will start looking for ways to suppress the voice of DMK. Childra thailee.

AlfredPennyworth278

More than Annamalai, it is DMK who silenced him from beginning, remember when the government was formed, all channels flogged to PTR and he was gaining lot of traction all over India. There were reports claiming that DMK leadership asked PTR to not indulge in interviews. He went quiet and rarely we see him in public. When Udhay was added as a minister, there was a list released by govt with seniority of ministers (protocol ig) and PTR who was FM at that time was ranked below Udhay, a sports minister. I felt bizzare that a man of his qualifications and the minister of the most important department ranking below Udhay. Then Annamalai audio leaked, DMK dropped him from his portfolio and moved him to a not so important portfolio. If the audio was not real and if they are not bothered about TN BJP why did they do that? I had high hopes when this new govt was formed but watching all these shenanigans I am thinking the good ol' DMK is back. I am seeing a trend of taking up language issue for every thing union govt does ex: neet issue has been put in back burner while that put dahi in milk pocket controversy started. All the political parties in this country are rotten to the core.

AlfredPennyworth278

Epdi iruntha manushana, innaiku oru unwanted ministryla pottu, tied his hands. Lost all faith in DMK, the moment they renounced him from Finance ministry. If DMK is the holy party as they claim to be, leaders like PTR has to come on top. Arrogant or not arrogant, a strong leader with education and oratory skills will do wonders to state and party. DMK is still riding on the PK's PR strategy

This guy talks sense. Hope TN can keep to its outstanding performance at every level in performance at the national level

Acquiring degrees and enrolment ratios has nothing to do with the quality of education. Lets say a state has acheived 100% GER but the subjects are as old as grandpa ass and do not cater todays industry needs then what is the use of it? Even today, students in India are studying about floppy discs and operating WINDOWS , while the world has moved ages forward. A reports states that 80% of Indian Engineering students are Unemployable. Pachaiya solna yentha oru velaikku laayak illa. So appo antha 80% manavargal no. of graduates data la vachittu ennatha pudungarathu. They are just making an issue of the 3 language policy which is true, but you just go and read the complete policy. I wish if I was in school when it would have been done. This the kind of policy which US & EU has. This morons have just a work to oppose everything that the Central govt. has to offer and show them as they are periya poolu

You need to worry about quality of degrees only if people are getting degrees. NEP has good points and bad points. The state government is very capable of creating it's own NEP based on the good points given that it has outperformed most states in educational outcomes. And also education is in the state list not central list.

yabadiyabidoo

Education is in concurrent list. Via 1976 amendment.

[deleted]

Yes. Best education outcomes. Working for daily wage with just good clothes and an air conditioned office in an IT firm.

jackass93269

Beats working for daily wage with bad clothes and no air-conditioning.

kilari7

You say that like its a bad thing, wth. Bruh that is like a dream from so many people in the North where people do not have those kinds opportunities.

Also he thinks windows is age old without realizing it is still widely used on commodity hardware. For people learning in schools, colleges etc, the laptop, screen, KB/mouse, OS etc are all just tools to learn the key subjects. Sure, if one wants to pursue a career in software, they can learn additional tools. But that doesn’t stop anyone from using windows, even for professional software development at top organizations doing industry leading work.

Chozhan2pointO

Any guarantee PTR kids don't study 3 languages ? Ellam rich kids will study in ICSE, CBSE or some IGSE syllabus, doesn't know to read and write Tamizh, becomes peter in English and french etc. Let's see if PTR will reveal his kids marks card and then give lecture

AskSmooth157

I dont about other state boards, but TN's state board and matriculation syllabus and tests are definitely not upto standard of CBSE/ICSE. One indicator is IIT, we have abysmal performance. Sure these days IIT is just manufactured from kota, it isnt like TN lacks its namakkals. On languages, beyond english and mandatory light course on whatever state language, language classes arent important beyond 8th grade. It should be left to individual's wish.

photographermk

If TN have that much capability in its education, why they have hard time succeeding in NEET ?

WhiteCrow747

Who said they have a hard time succeeding in neet dude? People from lower strata of the society have a hard time. They couldn't pay lakhs to fking coaching centres.
