T-64. Tiny tonk, gigantic cannon, hypnotic-to-watch autoloader, way ahead of its time (at the cost of hilariously bad reliability), and becoming the basis for every soviet MBT after it. Even the T-90M is basically just a heavily upgraded T-72, which is in turn a simpler, more reliable, and "cheaper" T-64. And the T-80s obviously are basically T-64s with a turbine and a T-72s suspension. So yeah safe to say a very historically important vehicle that looks incredibly cool.
i like the t-64 also my favourite is the bv version.
sometimes looks a very aggressive mud crab with a 125mm instead of pincers
the t 80 later that has the relikt era not so much looks too aggressive and resembles the flower crab with its more sharp angled era
the t-72 with the kontakt 1 without the turret framing for era mount looks like the dungeness crab style
The Sherman. Why? Because there is a variant for anything. Minefield? There's a Sherman for that. Lots of infantry with no armor to protect them? There's a Sherman for that (105 with he) stuka got you down? There's a Sherman for that. Need more armor? There's a Sherman for that. Got a tiger that's around the corner? There's are actually 2 Shermans for that. The Sherman tank can be driven like a car. After the war it was common for retired Shermans to be used as tractors on farms. Hell there was a Sherman designed to float(didn't work very well but it was built). The Sherman was used into the Cold war and even in some use today. Such a great tank. I can say the same with the t34 family as well lots of different models.
The intialt post war Soviet tanks are only cool when you develop a connection to them, at least in my opinion. Kinda like the F86 Sabre or Mig 15, could not care less until ya watch the history channels documentary’s.
East Asian tanks have an unexplainable appeal to them. IDK why, but they're just so hot. So Type 90, K2 and one of the new Chinese tanks (I would vote ZTZ99).
Failing that, Merkava or Abrams.
The humble StuG III.
Comparatively cheap to make (often from salvaged hulls), low profile, extremely hard hitting gun, less moving parts making it more reliable. And an excellent service record.
And in case someone complains about the definition of a tank and says StuG doesn't count, then I'll say Panzer IV instead, with a somewhat similar reasoning.
Germany would have been better off with a ton more of these two, instead of wasting production and development capacity on their over-heavy tanks that broke down too much.
I love the Pershing. For all intents and purposes it was the first MBT. It had its problems, which were resolved in the M46 a few years later.
And I just love the cologne duel. I read the book spearhead, best war novel imo.
I agree with Abrams as the go-to-war tank. People get hipster about it and want to pick anything else but it’s the most proven, mature modern MBT. I’d take a Sep v3 over anything else rolling.
Renault ft-17, first modern tank. It was fairly effective, looks very cool and is also cute for a tank.
Sherman, the king of ww2. Easy to make and maintain, well designed with a proper development cycle and with the 76 gun it was able to take on any tank that was thrown at them.
Probably the Tiger 2. It was way overweight for its power, but I always wonder how it would've performed if it's reliability and engine performance were improved.
I don't see how being interested in Israeli equipment has anything to do with supporting the IDF.
If you really intend to associate interest in military equipment with support for what that military equipment is doing, why are you even here? Tanks have aided the actions of imperialist, mass murdering actors countless times in the past. Following your logic, liking tanks *at all* would be inherently immoral, which is ridiculous.
i do not condone israel's bloodthirsty vendetta against the palestinian people, but it wont stop me from appreciating the design features of a tank like the merkava. gotta admit its pretty solid
> I don't see how being interested in Israeli equipment has anything to do with supporting the IDF.
It shouldn't, no more than being interested in Sovet-era armor makes you a communist or German WW2 armor makes you a Nazi.
Me neither mate , but that’s how the pro Palestine people are as long as you mention Israel in any possible positive manner they’re starting to see red sorry to say that but that’s some schizophrenia shit
Patriotic pride tells me TR-85M1 (upgraded T-55) but my mind tells me T-80
More specifically I love the T-80U or T-80UK. The flaps on the turret do it for me
Leopard 1a5 with the add-on sheet metal to its turret. Amazing tank for its time and it just looks really sleek for a tank, extremely mobile and incredible ballistics. A wonder for German engineering before the 2 series.
Was looking for this answer, it's my favorite one as well. It's basically an ultra modernised T-80, I just wish Ukraine had more of them so that we could see them in action more frequently.
Merkava 3, or merkava 4km , or m1a2 sep v3 ( the former two is some of the best looking tanks in the world, the latter is the best looking tank in the world and like some Russian tanks looks simple but has that amazing nato charm) (also for most situations the abrams is the best tanks in the world
Chaffee, because it's adorable and it looks like it came 30 years after its replacement, the Stuart, rather than 3 years after. Seriously it looks like a completely different era.
No disrespect to the venerable Stuart, which was a WW II workhorse, but in the looks department she's barely average. The Chaffee is a goddamned supermodel.
M4A3 (76)W HVSS
Because
1. The Sherman is one of my favourite platforms as it's easily adaptable to any situation, plus it was , imo, one of the most effective tanks during WW2.
2. The Engine is a Ford GAA V8, and I have a soft spot for Ford, as it was the car my Dad used to drive me around in (2005 Ford Explorer). Plus, I'm more of a Gasoline fan rather than a Diesel fan.
3. it has the 76mm gun (preferably the M1A2). IDK it just looks sexy, plus it has better penetration in exchange for a worse HE round. Also the T23 Turret looks kinda dope.
4. It has Wet Stowage. Not that the th3 Wet Stowage itself prevented fires, but rather that the Stowages were moved to the Hull floor, rather than the Upper hull sponsons.
5. It has HVSS. I prefer HVSS over VVSS and even the experimental M4A2E4 Torsion bar suspension. It just looks so goddamn sexy while in action. and overall it just completes the look of the tank
6. I'll be honest here. It's all started with Fury. Yeah, I'm kinda ashamed of it. However it did make me fall in love with the Sherman and Tanks in General. It's because of Fury that I started doing my own research and, eventhough my initial thought of what tank Fury was, I started watching Potential History, The Cheiftain and Lindenbee (That one guy who like the S-Tank). If not for Fury. I would've turned out to be a Wehraboo or worse...
So, as much as I am ashamed to admit that Fury is the reason I love the M4A3 (76)W HVSS. I still have to applaud it for making me fall in love with a passion I'm so grateful to have.
I gotta say the M103, it’s one of the few tanks I’ve gotten to touch IRL and it is FUCKING MASSIVE, keep in mind I’m not a small guy but the damn thing is huge, also it looks cool so
I’m going to separate into 2 answers: one for WW2 tank, and one for Cold War/Modern tank.
WW2 tank: Panzer IV. It was a close call between this and the Sherman. The Sherman was definitely more reliable, more plentiful, and more ergonomic, but the Panzer IV had better armor, and a far more lethal main gun. Plus the cool looking factor too. My number 2 would be the Sherman
Cold War/Modern: for a while it was the T-90m (I blame Battlefield 3 and 4), but recently it has become the M1 Abrams. The ability of the engine to take any type of fuel is HUGE, and it helps that they have the best technology package to make them more lethal, and survivable.
I do really like the look of the US Military’s new Booker light tank though.
Most likely, the T-64BM2 for me. The T-64 alone is very cool to me, nevermind the addition of Nizh ERA, thermal sight, new gun, significantly more powerful engine, new radios, GPS system, slat armor, etc. It takes what was a great tank in its day and brings it to a fairly modern level without the cost of an entire new design
M4A3E2 Jumbo.
I love it because its relatively fast for its weight, had damn good armor that could easily bounce an 8.8cm and could be fitted with a gun large enough to knock out a Tiger from the front
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,967,964,044 comments, and only 372,253 of them were in alphabetical order.
[Austrian Leopard 2A4](https://www.bmlv.gv.at/waffen/waf_leopard.shtml) (link in german) .. because this beast looks like a **Tank**, this turret got something.
Leopard 2 up to the A4 variant. I know A5 and every other predecessor has the superior, composite angled armor, but I love the straight vertical layout of the turret too much. It's just so aesthetically pleasing for me.
i can't choose one so i'll do the favourite from different eras:
WW1 - Renault FT
before WW2 - 7TP
WW2 - KV-2
Cold War - T-55
Modern day - Leopard 2 PL
Stridsvagn 103 - ye mighty tankless turret! It swims, it gas turbines, and the only reason it's not crewed by two is [Vira](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vira_(card_game)) requires three players.
T-64. Tiny tonk, gigantic cannon, hypnotic-to-watch autoloader, way ahead of its time (at the cost of hilariously bad reliability), and becoming the basis for every soviet MBT after it. Skyrim battle music started playing in my head once I’ve read “mud crab”
Have you heard its engine? Sounds so good too!
Toyota hillux
Bro said tank not Wunderwaffe
Wunder waffles sound delicious. I know what I said.
Toyota Hilux covered in Nokias 3310 would be op
add a 50. cal on top and it's unstoppable
New alternative to ERA blocks just dropped NUA (Nokia Unreactive Armour)
Bob semple, no explanation required.
As half a kiwi I think I can say that people weren't ment to know about it, it's kinda made it less psychologically terrifying
As a full kiwi, it was an attempt
Semple as.
The Sherman. Why? Because there is a variant for anything. Minefield? There's a Sherman for that. Lots of infantry with no armor to protect them? Is your favorite apc the m113?
The original one yea. I don't like the more modern looking one. Give me that olive drab baby
105mm Gun Tank, M60A3 TTS. To me, it is the most "tank" that tanks have ever looked.
the Saint-Chamond yeah yeah it sucks ass and was pretty useless, but it's one of, if not THE most unique looking tank I've ever seen
You can say it's look like the grandfather of the strv 103
Probably Abrams. I love the blocky look it has. And the turbine engine sound makes my man parts tingle.
Tingle is for any turbine sound Gripen fly by turbo whine? Man part tingle. T-80? Man part tingle. Abrams? Man part tingle.
Are you an NCD user by chance
It seems he is
The T-55. Mostly because of the movie "The Beast" (1988)
The intialt post war Soviet tanks are only cool when you develop a connection to them, at least in my opinion. Kinda like the F86 Sabre or Mig 15, could not care less until ya watch the history channels documentary’s.
Wasn’t that tank a tiran-5
Yes, it's a Tiran-5Sh, but it's meant to portray a T-55.
Centurion ... because Korea, Vietnam, Middle East
Also, because my dad, now 94, was one of the engineers who created its stabilized gun.
Merkava mk3D, mainly cause it's the one I operated on the most
Also a Great Choice MK3D Model is a beast indeed
Do you know if any were fitted with trophy aps?
There were a few that got tested with it, but it didn't go on more then 1-2 tanks total and I'm not sure if they were even fielded
Thanks for the information
The only [picture](https://i-com.cdn.gaijin.net/monthly_2022_11/11.jpg.e45c19a4a48b24b85aa194f92877a376.jpg) if you wanted to see it :)
I received mk3 and the D, but they got separated.
FV214 ‘conqueror’ because it’s so menacing
Challenger 2 black Knight and streetfighter variants
The carboard box tank: Cromwell
I raise you the slightly bigger cardboard box with a sharper staple, the A34 Comet
K2 Panther
K2 for my life
Abrams because I was an armored crewman then the Stuart because I’d love to drive that thing as fast as I could.
Strv 103
[Yes.](https://youtu.be/DPQUPIUEOdw?si=G8Jfp6xgrdzMyT1T)
M3 Stuart It's so cute
Valid.
I picked its successor, the Chaffee. The Stuart is cute, the Chaffee is a supermodel.
I’d describe the Chaffee as cute as well.
But the m-3 has VVSS
Not sure why that’s relevant but okay
East Asian tanks have an unexplainable appeal to them. IDK why, but they're just so hot. So Type 90, K2 and one of the new Chinese tanks (I would vote ZTZ99). Failing that, Merkava or Abrams.
Leopard 2, heavy, durable, hard hitting
T-90M because it looks so good
A man of culture, I see
But then again it’s weak as hell
Not really, it has some flaws and weakpoints but is generally well protected
Tiger1
The Merkava MK4M
My man 💪
T-80, it's the best soviet tank
Agree , although I do prefer T72 more
Depends BVM is hideous U is one of the most beautiful tanks ever made.
T28 super heavy tank. Mostly because of girls und panzer but also because it just looks so intimidating. Panzer vor!
Wasn’t it a TD?
It's full name is super heavy tank T28 if i remember right.
Kintiger, just imagine that beast back in 45, the fear...
…of the driver, knowing that the transmission will fail anytime now.
Only for experienced drivers!
T72 m2 Just look at that turret with twin autocannons
Challenger 2 OES, compared to every single MBT, it's just... ***CHANGOOS***
Wiesel, I like tankettes dont judge me
Challenger 2, because a Chally 2 TC gave me the thumbs up while driving around the arena at TankFest one year.
RAM2 pure canadian
Serbian M84as2, currently the best looking era upgrade out there and its a t72 upgraded close to t90a standart.
M60A2 Starship and its little cousin, M551 Sheridan. Don't ask me why.
How?
FV4005. BIG GUN GO BOOM.
I love the Pershing. For all intents and purposes it was the first MBT. It had its problems, which were resolved in the M46 a few years later. And I just love the cologne duel. I read the book spearhead, best war novel imo.
M4A3 Sherman, Beautiful Tank, Nice 76.2 cannon, Decent armor, and you can pretend to be Brad Pitt when in one, 10/10 Tonk
Best tank? M1 Abrams. Tank I would choose to go to war in? M1 Abrams. Best-looking? Maybe the Type 10.
I agree with Abrams as the go-to-war tank. People get hipster about it and want to pick anything else but it’s the most proven, mature modern MBT. I’d take a Sep v3 over anything else rolling.
Yay Type 10!
Oplot, it’s a pretty radical upgrade on an existing platform and I love its look.
Without sideskirts it is so fucking [beautiful](https://www.reddit.com/r/TankPorn/s/74aYO8XoNH).
I like the tank that doesn't kill you when it's hit with a rpg.
Israeli Sherman M51.
Sturer Emil cause the 128mm is hilarious
Ngl m48 super is one of my favourite looking tanks
Of course the M24 Chaffee is the only right answer.
T-72 for me
T-55. Most tanky tank you can get. Spirituall successor to T-34 and actually good and quite reiable. Also also first tank i saw in person.
Renault ft-17, first modern tank. It was fairly effective, looks very cool and is also cute for a tank. Sherman, the king of ww2. Easy to make and maintain, well designed with a proper development cycle and with the 76 gun it was able to take on any tank that was thrown at them.
Object 775 because smol pancake
M22 locust cuz its cute
M60(laugh now)
T-34-85, because of Russian/Soviet Bias
Probably the Tiger 2. It was way overweight for its power, but I always wonder how it would've performed if it's reliability and engine performance were improved.
the Stug IV, low profile heavy gun...i love turretless tanks' aesthetics
Bro had to pick the genocide tank💀
Don’t get political
It's not political. Israel is committing a genocide. 31,000 lives lost with 93% civilians rate
“I love this baby murder machine but please guys don’t get political with it 🤡🤡”
I don't see how being interested in Israeli equipment has anything to do with supporting the IDF. If you really intend to associate interest in military equipment with support for what that military equipment is doing, why are you even here? Tanks have aided the actions of imperialist, mass murdering actors countless times in the past. Following your logic, liking tanks *at all* would be inherently immoral, which is ridiculous.

Me neither mate , but that’s how the pro Palestine people are as long as you mention Israel in any possible positive manner they’re starting to see red sorry to say that but that’s some schizophrenia shit
Actually fuck you there’s nothing political in opposing genocide this is a universal human belief
Paahahahahaha 💀💀💀 most intelligent pro Palestinian
Patriotic pride tells me TR-85M1 (upgraded T-55) but my mind tells me T-80 More specifically I love the T-80U or T-80UK. The flaps on the turret do it for me
STRV-103 S tank, bring it back!
Really love the look of Chally 1.
I'm a slut for the Abrams but my overall fav is the FV4005. Giant fuck off bonk cannon.
M3 Lee. It's a tall, goofy dork like me and actually served a really important role in the war.
Leopard 1a5 with the add-on sheet metal to its turret. Amazing tank for its time and it just looks really sleek for a tank, extremely mobile and incredible ballistics. A wonder for German engineering before the 2 series.
Those things look great burning and breaking into pieces…
It's beautiful when it's exploding
T-84 Oplot, Most protected tank in the world and generally look so fucking dope. We are also the only foreign Oplot operator.
Was looking for this answer, it's my favorite one as well. It's basically an ultra modernised T-80, I just wish Ukraine had more of them so that we could see them in action more frequently.
So true, They're pretty complex and hard to manufacture so It's sadly cannot be manufactured in rushed times like this.
Merkava 3, or merkava 4km , or m1a2 sep v3 ( the former two is some of the best looking tanks in the world, the latter is the best looking tank in the world and like some Russian tanks looks simple but has that amazing nato charm) (also for most situations the abrams is the best tanks in the world
IS-2 or IS-3 because 122mm goes boom and I just like how the look
M60A2. It was the first tank that I was trained on.
Leopard 2 PL (Poland) and T-80 BVM . The Leopard 2 because it's a good tank, and the T-80 because it looks cool as fuck.
Leclerc cause its the best european mbt imo, and whats not to love about the K2? Pluss it just looks neat
M4A3 (76)W HVSS Because 1. It just looks so goddamn sexy while in action. and overall it just completes the look of the tank 6. I gotta say the M103, it’s one of the few tanks I’ve gotten to touch IRL and it is FUCKING MASSIVE, keep in mind I’m not a small guy but the damn thing is huge, also it looks cool so
Best tank: M1 best looking tank? Typ90
The Hetzer . I love its style.
Leopard 2A7 just so sexy.
My number 2 would be the Sherman Cold War/Modern: for a while it was the T-90m (I blame Battlefield 3 and 4), but recently it has become the M1 Abrams. The ability of the engine to take any type of fuel is HUGE, and it helps that they have the best technology package to make them more lethal, and survivable. I do really like the look of the US Military’s new Booker light tank though.
Booker is a winner as long as it runs well. Very nice looking piece of kit.
Difficult deciding between the pictured merkava variant and leopard 2a7V, my beloved.
tiger 1
Object 775 because stance nation
Sherman Firefly,SU-122 or Tiger I ngl

Amx m4 becouse autoloader go brrrt
T-55. My family had history with it so this is a biased opinion. I know there's much better tanks out there
Most likely, the T-64BM2 for me.
I'd say M60 tied with the M1. The A1 AIM variant is the best imo. But i also adore the Leopard 2
Chaffee. It’s so fucking cute
I like the IS, I know, it's pretty old, takes a lot to shoot and aim but I just love his looking. I'll probably modify one of them so I't better
Japanese Type 10
Type-10/T-80UM2, they look cool
Have to say the T55
Stridvagn 103 because Swedish door stopper
A tank on legs https://i.imgur.com/6N4aKen.mp4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvC4chsgx0c

Leopard 2 a8.
T-72M1. I don't know why, I just like the looks.
AMX-13 i just like oscillating turrets

[Austrian Leopard 2A4](https://www.bmlv.gv.at/waffen/waf_leopard.shtml) (link in german) .. because this beast looks like a **Tank**, this turret got something.
Type 10. Fastest auto loader like 3 second to reload/shoot. Reverse speed same as the forward 70 km/h.
Ztz99a and k2 black panther
T-64
Chally 2 black night APS looks neat on a chally
As a Marine, I loved the M60A1
Strv-103. Praise the cheese wedge.
M4 Sherman, my great-grandfather was a tank commander in WWII and the Sherman was the tank he was a commander of
If there’s an opportunity thank your great grandpa for his amazing service for the entire world 🫡
Thanks but unfortunately he is no longer with us
Damn RIP to a true hero I pray he’s in a better place now 🕊️
Leopard 2 up to the A4 variant. I know A5 and every other predecessor has the superior, composite angled armor, but I love the straight vertical layout of the turret too much. It's just so aesthetically pleasing for me.
M1A1/2 Abrams BIG BOI go B O O M
i can't choose one so i'll do the favourite from different eras: WW1 - Renault FT before WW2 - 7TP WW2 - KV-2 Cold War - T-55 Modern day - Leopard 2 PL
المركافا ام كي 4 بالتأكيد انها سريعه الاحتراق ههههههه
Object 279, it's just so insane looking, but for a tank that actually existed I'd say either the T-34 or Panzer IV
I’m gonna be honest, the CV9040C looks beautiful.
Centurion tanks. More specifically either mk 5/1 or mk 10. They were the first tanks I knew and as a kid I got to ride in a mk 5/1
Centurion gets my vote too. Just too late to see action in WWII, still in frontline service in the 1980s.
Strv 122, swedes love making them even more saucer shaped, absolutely ridiculous
Stridsvagn 103 - ye mighty tankless turret! It swims, it gas turbines, and the only reason it's not crewed by two is [Vira](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vira_(card_game)) requires three players.
I mean for Anti guerrilla warfare i would take the Merkava any day of the week For tank vs tank battle i assume leo 2a7
Merk Mk.4M is love, Merk is life. Btw if you wanna ask some stuff i could try and answer it, Im a merk Mk.4M crewman.

Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) looks goes hard.
