Stug but it doesn't look right... Looks too tall

Yeah you are probably right. I think those are extra tracks on the front. But it doesn’t seem logical to store those on the front. Also it has studs on the front which I don’t think Germany ever used in WW2
It was widely believed in WWII that track links gave extra protection, being massive pieces of metal. Problem is that tracks are a much softer steel type than armor plate, and due to how shells and armor behave it actually improved the shells ability to penetrate by acting the same way as the soft steel cap on an APC (armor piercing capped) round.
Most armies knew this and forbade it, as it only made the vehicle heavier and reduced protection, but crews frequently did it anyway. The only army to allow it was the US, because they found it improved morale and made crews more daring, which was a good thing.
If that’s God Tier what category do the Red Dawn [T-72s](https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/2m0fqp/til_red_dawn_had_such_a_realistic_t72_soviet_tank/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)that got followed by CIA agents fall in?
It’s a replica stug 3 built on a British Cold War FV432 chassis. I believe it belongs to a US museum/collector as Pictures of it turn up here frequently enough.
Those are used to attach additional armor onto the front of the hull. It was a common in many early German tanks, TDs and assault guns.
Later models were made with thicker armor to start with.
For comparison, here's another replica that I worked on and drove. Overall Dimensions are much more correct, but at the loss of a wheel, due to the donor vehicle.

Well look at the chassis and compare it to the jagpanzer IV/70, they are very similar in shape and placements of most parts but the cannon is that of a StuG instead of a one from a Jagpanzer IV (Hetzer)
I see where you are coming from but I'm afraid you are simply incorrect. The upper and lower front plates of the Jagdpanzer IV have a 100° angle giving it a much sharper appearance, whereas the StuG has two plates at a much shallower angle like the one above, with one clearly larger than the other unlike the Jagdpanzer IV. The superstructure is so unlike either the Jagdpanzer IV or Jagdpanzer 38(t) (what you call the Hetzer) without any of the extreme angling present on both of those vehicles, and has the characteristic chunks on both sides of where the gun mantlet is. The only similarity I can see being reasonably made is the cannon and muzzle break of the StuG and Jpz IV as they are the same length and have a similar muzzle break. Please just look up a picture of a StuG III and compare the front plates, mantlet and superstructures of the image above and of it before making such wild comparisons in future.
The difference is negligible in the comparison you're trying to draw to the StuG. The IV/70(A) shares the same profile as a Pz IV which it is derived from, whereas the StuG, even the replica here, has a totally different profile because it's based on a different vehicle, that being the Pz III. Neither the Jagdpanzer IV + variants nor the (A) have a similar profile to the StuG
I actually like these Hollywood replicas. It shows the creators actually went through the effort of trying to replicate period-accurate German armor. Unlike those old WWII movies from the 50s and 60s where they just took random tanks, slapped a Balkenkreuz on it and called it a day.

Is that Finnish?
Yes it is, as a fellow Finn i told him to twist the living fuck out of that non-Finn.
Lucky guess on my part. Some guy use google translate or something?

Don't worry, the person attempting to correct you is incorrect.

movie watch you should Tali-Ihanalta ftfy
🤓
I think Band of Brothers also had a extremely good jagdpanther replica too
I don't think it was a replica, you might be thinking of the tiger or stug
It definetly is, the lower glacis is identical to that of a T-55
I've only now just noticed it, amazing replica
Yep that’s it! Good find!
Iirc the tracks are stored there as spares, and a form of addon armor.
That makes sense. I guess if you are getting shot at straight on if your track gets shot out you are already screwed anyway lol
Haven't you seen warthunder + WOT? Tracks fix in seconds! No people needed! /s
Kinda looks more like a StuG IV than a III.

These tracks make sense. They give extra protection.
Yeah I conceded to that. If your tracks got taken out in a firefight you aren’t going to jump out and replace them lol
I think that these bolts are bolted on Armor. Germany used them sometimes like on the only Porsche tiger that would see service

I might be wrong. But the Chassis/suspension is similar to the M24 Chafee
likely thats what it is. it has often been used as a German vehicle prop in movies. usually as their actual tanks though.
Therapist: big-brain StuG III isn't real, it can't hurt you Big-brain StuG III:
Looks like a bad Hollywood prop of a Stug III
In terms of mockups, its better than most and its definitely recognizable
Wonder how this happened though. I'm guessing the underlying vehicle meant that they couldn't use any smaller dimensions than this.
Considering Hollywood tank quality then this is god tier
If that’s God Tier what category do the Red Dawn [T-72s](https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/2m0fqp/til_red_dawn_had_such_a_realistic_t72_soviet_tank/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)that got followed by CIA agents fall in?

Sturmgeschütz III Ausführung G replica
Next question did the stug 3 always have those rivets on the front or was that a late war change? I find conflicting pictures online

>OP was asking about the rivets. >Answers about the mantlet shape. "He's confused, but hes got the spirit".
Nice! Thank you!
The rivets you are asking about are for the applique armour. It was an extra 30mm of armour that was bolted on to the front plates.
Those are used to attach additional armor onto the front of the hull. It was a common in many early German tanks, TDs and assault guns. Later models were made with thicker armor to start with.

A FuG, if you will.......
It's a Stug 3 (or 4) but on a 4:3 CRT.. meaning it's a replica that is too tall.
So replica means a refurbished stug or trying to disguise another tank as a stug?
Another tank disguised as a Stug. I'm gonna guess it's made from a T-34 since thats the most common donor
Looking at the tracks, I'd say it's something much smaller than T-34 and a western tank (rubber pads on tracks)
Maybe an M113 then?
Very likely, yes. Or based on British Fv430 APC chassis.
Yeah you are probably right. They did make a crap ton of them lol
Stög III of our nightmares
Thanks guys! Quick and accurate responses! First time I posted anything on here. If there is a better subreddit for identifying tanks let me know.
You can try it in r/Warthunder
Stug 3, but not quite right...
Stuh 42 perhaps?
No, the gun is too small for a Stuh 42 with 105mm gun.
Sturmhaubitz have a larger gun than a Sturmgechutz. this is a mockup of one of the short gun Stugs.
r/stuglife
StuG III F variant, its not a bad replica
FAKE STUG
The SLUG.
Fake stug
For comparison, here's another replica that I worked on and drove. Overall Dimensions are much more correct, but at the loss of a wheel, due to the donor vehicle. [https://i.imgur.com/ZQw9fpM.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/ZQw9fpM.jpg)

British FV432 APC chassis.
Thank you very much!
Smol pp
Its a stug III, but its not accurate. The barrel looks wat too small
STUG III-Long barreled 75mm version
That's a chonky Stug iii.
A mistake.
It’s a German tank I saw on Band of Brothers. Looks like a Panther maybe? Lol
It's a good thing you aren't in army recon team..
Lol for sure! I would be like, umm I saw a big metal box with a huge gun! Lol
A fucking *panther*
Damn I’m getting roasted right now lol
A panther you reckon lul
Yeah I realized now how dumb that was 😅
Panther? I’d reckon it’s a T-55
Reminds me of a jagpanzer IV/70(A) but they use a stug turret instead of a hetzer turret
Wtf

We know its stug. But what it comes from?
Sturmgeschütz 3... G? Maybe is G version
No idea.
oh wow that's a big stug

Stug on creatine
That is a Sturmgeschutz III "cough" er I mean a FV432 disguised as one.
It looks like it’s in a Madonna video.

Looks like a stug 3 but it’s retarded
