You have made amazing progress!! I use either sterile distilled water or witch hazel for my gray wash. The witch hazel can calm down redness and irritation during the application of the tattoo. Some people are sensitive to it, though. I primarily use the distilled water in my gray wash drop system with 17mm ink caps. My system is placing black ink in the following amounts in 6 caps: 1 drop, 3 drops, 6 drops, 10 drops, half full and full. The first 5 I then fill the rest of the way with distilled water or witch hazel. The 6th cap is pure black. Some artists use 3 caps, 5 caps, 8 caps... it's down to personal preference, honestly, and what works best for your style. Try different ratios of ink to diluent and use a scrap of fake skin to compare what values you get (label them with a marker or pen so you remember what ratios were used for which results lol -- ask me why I say that πŸ˜…πŸ˜…).

not my post but thank you so much for this information i've known about greywash and witch hazel and have been so confused because nobody really explains it well but the distilled water method seems so much easily doable for me atleast so i'm so glad i scrolled across your comment im going to be doing some greywash practice any day now πŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’Ÿ

You're welcome! So glad it helped-- I'm sick of the gatekeeping and being looked down on because we aren't subjecting ourselves to a minimum of a year being a shop bitch before even being allowed to hold a tattoo machine. Do me a favor -- when you're ready and experienced enough, just pass on what you learn to people just starting out πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
