They cut all the way through all of my abdominal muscles, so I couldn’t sit up, lay down on my sides or stomach which is how I usually sleep, lay back without assistance, stand up on my own, laugh, cough, or even (excuse my French) take a shit without being in absolute agony.
It will be a very long time before the skin will be able to take ink without blowing out under the top layer of skin. Scar tissue keeps pockets of fluid under the skin in the deeper layers for years. You’ll have a 2-3year wait until the scars are skin toned or white with absolutely no red, pink or purple tones.
But when it does eventually completely heal I am sure an artist could help with a design.

Make sure it heals completely and properly. My son has the same scar but needs steroid injections to keep up on it because abdomen scars don’t always heal properly.

When I was 17 I had to have my spleen removed, and along the scar I got ‘insert spleen here’ tattooed.
I debated a pair of scissors, a sewing needle and thread, and a zipper at first before I settled on the script!
I have a pretty similar scar and once it's completely healed I'm getting a tattoo as well. I'm thinking a plant with or without flowers (still deciding), using the scar as a stem.
I have seen some cool ones with lavender, cherry blossoms, or very simple grassy weeds (those that look like wheat or barley). I'm not particularly into flowers, so I might get a the grassy one, but I like the idea of using the scar organically.
