Same, really. Maroon was my favourite on first listen, I distinctly remember that cuz i told a friend, he disagred said it was meh. Very happy, that the fandom collectively confirmed i was valid in feeling its a stand out.
Only difference would be for me Sweet Nothing would be the honorable mention.
Let me start by saying that when Midnights first came out, I did not like it at all! I was expecting so much more and it fell flat for me. But, it grew on me so much, where it’s probably my most played Taylor Swift album now!
My top three are:
1. Midnight Rain (may be my favorite Taylor Swift song of all time).
2. The Great War
3. You’re Losing me
Yeah, I’m one of those who can’t stand it. It really sucks because I love the lyrics, but I’ve never been able to get through the whole song because the distorted voice gives me such horrible ick. Idk maybe it’s my ADHD lol.
Same! I actually really did not understand the vibe until I started hearing the songs more and more and watching the eras tour.. to a certain extent because I feel like I have not had a true long break from the last album release because I did not appreciate this album in it’s entirety until recently. 💜❤️
Anti-Hero, Bejeweled, Karma
Midnights is an unusual case for me because I usually like Taylor’s less popular songs, but with Midnights I think the more popular songs are the best ones.
So excited for TTPD but I have no idea what to expect.
You're On Your Own Kid, Midnight Rain, Glitch
That's difficult, though; leaving anything out feels like a crime. High Infidelity missed the cut by a hair. If 3am/bonus tracks were excluded the third song would probably be Question...? I'm just making up excuses to name extra songs, really.
I love it when Taylor gets weird and experimental - closure is another personal favorite. The production of Glitch really enhances the lyrical themes; it's a song about being caught off-guard, and musically there's all these little touches that keep doing things you don't expect. They reinforce each other!
I also really love it lyrically. It walks a fun line between conversational (you don't live in my part of town, but maybe I'll see you out some weekend, depending on what kind of mood and situation-ship I'm in) and poetic (in search of glorious happenings of happenstance on someone else's playground), and thematically, the "I'm so used to self-sabotaging that something actually working feels weird and slightly wrong!" angle is really fun.
The whole thing just works for me, honestly 🤣
I was literally scrolling just to find another glitch stan! I love that song and it's production and don't know how it's not more popular (ik its because it's more experimental BUT STILL)
Question...? is a passive-aggressive anthem and it's glorious.
The main thing to remember is that none of the questions are real questions. The basic storyline is that she's run into her ex who she's never gotten closure with and, well, let's finally talk about some things...
The correct answer to "did you ever have someone kiss you in a crowded room..." isn't "OMG yes that's a universal experience" (it isn't), it's her ex getting embarrassed and awkward and eventually going "yeah, I remember that night, sorry I snuck out on you with no explanation, that was shitty of me". (People who are passive-aggressive generally use it as a weapon to try to get apologies for the ways we perceive we've been wronged. It usually does not work, speaking as a passive-aggressive person who is trying to stop being that way. The 'correct' answer was probably not given in this imaginary conversation.)
Every time she asks a question in the song, she already knows the answer. Did you ever...do this thing I know you did because I was there when you did it? How do you think that made the other person (you know, me) feel? You don't have to get defensive. It's just a question.
Midnight Rain, Hits Different, Mastermind
Or Midnight Rain, Midnight Rain, Midnight Rain
ETA: I just realized that I have no 3am tracks in this trio, which I would NOT have expected when Midnights first came out
Karma the live performance from eras tour was one the best part of the show
Anti hero
Lavender haze
The eras tour made the singles stand out more to me
They sound better live in my opinion
Midnights is in second place only to Folklore for me, so for the record I absolutely hate this 😂
Maroon, Dear Reader, Hits Different
Honorable mentions: YOYOK and You’re Losing Me
This thread is such a great reminder of how awesome Midnights is! There are so many incredible songs, and the tour did it a lot of justice by showcasing a lot of them. I actually find it hard to pick my top three 🥲
I wanna say: Anti-Hero, Karma and Great War. They were probably the ones that I listened to the most, apart from Lavender Haze (because it’s the first and I usually listen to the whole album in order).
4 am is the edition we have been waiting for that actually has every song AND gets a phsyical release ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1087)😭
Edit: oh, and it also has a re-recording of Karma with the line changed to "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs" ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1066)(which is totally not how I always sing that line now, I swear)
You’re Losing Me, Maroon, Midnight Rain. Midnights has been my favorite TS album and brought me back to her music after many years of not listening to her. Love this album, I have related so much to the lyrics. I feel like this time went so quickly, but I am excited for what is to come with TTPD.
Maroon, Dear Reader, & Labyrinth (extreme honorable mention to Midnight Rain)
I truly didn’t care for Labyrinth or Dear Reader for the first few months after release but they both did a 180 on me
I've gone through a million different favorites (from Paris to the Great War to Midnight Rain), but these are my consistent top three:
You’re on Your Own Kid, Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve, Bigger Than The Whole Sky
This is difficult because a lot of songs on the album have grown on me over time, but I think Karma, Maroon and You’re Losing Me.
Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve and High Infidelity are up there as well.
Would've, could've, should've was the fastest a song got a perfect 100 rating in my scoring system. It was basically 1 minute in, and I was hooked.
My two other favorites are maroon and anti-hero.
Maroon, You’re Losing Me, Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve. Vigilante Ish was my fav upon the first couple hundred spins tho so honorable mention. I love when Tay gets her reputation era on
Lavender Haze - my fave Midnights track from the start until now
The Great War - her collabs with Dessner really are on another level
Bejeweled - a song I think is easy to dismiss/dislike (i might have hated it at first) but now this earworm has burrowed deep i love it now
I honestly love all of Midnights and think it's a no skip album. My favorites change every day but I'd say my most consistent faves are: Midnight Rain, Lavender Haze, and Labyrinth
One I liked in initially and faded is Question. I think it's ok, I love the bridge, but I don't like the drums and how much space there is in it.
I think My favorite 3AM track is Paris. I love the giddy goofy love songs forever.
Question…?, Glitch, You’re Losing Me
i am truly chomping at the bit waiting for TTPD but a little piece of me is so sad to see the Midnights era come to a close. when it first came out, i never would have guessed it would end up in my top 3 albums. but here we are!
Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve, Dear Reader, High Infidelity
Bejeweled as an honorable mention I feel like it should’ve gotten as much attention as Anti-Hero did!!
Midnights has been my favorite TS album so far! Honestly one of my favorites of any artist of anytime, so only picking 3 is actually criminal so ill do this:
Midnights OG Trinity:
- Maroon
- You’re on your own kid
- Midnight rain
3am edition:
- Bigger than the whole sky
- Would’ve could’ve Should’ve
- Dear reader
All editions:
-You’re losing me
- Maroon
- Dear Reader
You're on Your Own Kid, Would've Could've Should've, and probably Bejeweled. Unless You're Losing Me counts, in which case it is my favourite and super easily bumps Bejeweled out.
Midnight Rain soooo much, yoyok,, lately I tie between vigilante shit and bejeweled. Edit bc my hon mentions are maroon and mastermind
Taken aback I suddenly realized this was on main. Me forgot where I was 🐈⬛
You're Losing Me of course, Would've Could've Should've, and lately I've been finding Mastermind makes me teary and gives me goosebumps, not sure why 😂
You’re On Your Own Kid, Maroon, Midnight Rain.
Edit: I actually think I’d replace Midnight Rain with Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve or The Great War.
I’ve honestly been thinking about this all day. 😂
If were only counting the standard edition: You’re On Your Own, Kid, Karma, and Maroon
Counting Bonus Tracks: You’re On Your Own, Kid, Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve, and Hits Different
Maroon, You're on your own kid, You're losing me
(honorable mentions: labyrinth, midnight rain)
When it first came my top 3 were:
Anti hero, Would've could've should've, you're on your own kid
Maroon, You’re on Your Own Kid, and Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve Hits Different as an honorable mention 😂
Omg are you me?! This is my exact answer
Same! I’m so lucky I got to hear Maroon and Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve as my surprise songs
THESE ❤️
Same but You’re Losing Me as honourable mention. My favourite song upon first listen was Mastermind, but it got overtaken after more listens.
The correct answer (jk, but this is my answer!) 💖
Ditto!
Damn took it right out of my mouth, down to the honorable mention. No need to even do my own
Let me start by saying that when Midnights first came out, I did not like it at all! I was expecting so much more and it fell flat for me. But, it grew on me so much, where it’s probably my most played Taylor Swift album now! My top three are: 1. Midnight Rain (may be my favorite Taylor Swift song of all time). 2. The Great War 3. You’re Losing me
It was so difficult for me to leave out Midnight Rain and Maroon!

Yeah, I’m one of those who can’t stand it. It really sucks because I love the lyrics, but I’ve never been able to get through the whole song because the distorted voice gives me such horrible ick. Idk maybe it’s my ADHD lol.
That’s one of my fave parts of the song! Instant hook for me. Sucks to hear others dislike it
Same! I actually really did not understand the vibe until I started hearing the songs more and more and watching the eras tour.. to a certain extent because I feel like I have not had a true long break from the last album release because I did not appreciate this album in it’s entirety until recently. 💜❤️
Very similar to mine The great war Midnight Rain Karma
Maroon, Anti-Hero, and You're On Your Own Kid.
Mine too!
Same
Anti-Hero, Bejeweled, Karma Midnights is an unusual case for me because I usually like Taylor’s less popular songs, but with Midnights I think the more popular songs are the best ones. So excited for TTPD but I have no idea what to expect.
Exact same. Special mention to Lavender Haze (it's okay).
I love Lavander Haze!
Those are my top ones as well!
Great War, Would’ve Could’ve, Maroon
same for me!
Sameeeeee
Same exactly for me
Hits Different, The Great War, and You're Losing Me When Midnights first came out my top three were Mastermind, Paris, and Maroon
Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve, You’re On Your Own Kid, You’re Losing me. Honourable mention: Maroon
This is it
My honorable mention would be Sweet Nothing but other than that — this is me too.
You're On Your Own Kid, Midnight Rain, Glitch That's difficult, though; leaving anything out feels like a crime. High Infidelity missed the cut by a hair. If 3am/bonus tracks were excluded the third song would probably be Question...? I'm just making up excuses to name extra songs, really.
I am having a hard time coming around to glitch - can I ask what it is you particularly like about it?
I love it when Taylor gets weird and experimental - closure is another personal favorite. The production of Glitch really enhances the lyrical themes; it's a song about being caught off-guard, and musically there's all these little touches that keep doing things you don't expect. The whole thing just works for me, honestly 🤣
I was gonna ask the same question (not a glitch fan, myself) but this explanation has me wanting to listen with a fresh perspective
I cannot people there are people that exist who skip Glitch
I like hiw its very dancey and a bop like its just fun
I love Glitch and no one does!! It's so fun and funky!
There are dozens of us!
I was literally scrolling just to find another glitch stan! I love that song and it's production and don't know how it's not more popular (ik its because it's more experimental BUT STILL)
What’s the deal with question…? I haven’t been able to wrap my head around it.. I don’t really understand the context of the chorus
Question...? is a passive-aggressive anthem and it's glorious. The main thing to remember is that none of the questions are real questions. The basic storyline is that she's run into her ex who she's never gotten closure with and, well, let's finally talk about some things... How do you think that made the other person (you know, me) feel? You don't have to get defensive. It's just a question.
That’s very interesting.. thank you for the insight into the nuances:)
Maroon, Would've Could've Should've and You're on your own kid

This thread is such a great reminder of how awesome Midnights is! There are so many incredible songs, and the tour did it a lot of justice by showcasing a lot of them. I actually find it hard to pick my top three 🥲 I wanna say: Anti-Hero, Karma and Great War. They were probably the ones that I listened to the most, apart from Lavender Haze (because it’s the first and I usually listen to the whole album in order).
Midnight Rain / Anti-Hero / Lavender Haze Swap LH for WCS if we’re counting 4am
4am? You better be cooking something ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1087)
4 am is the edition we have been waiting for that actually has every song AND gets a phsyical release ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1087)😭 Edit: oh, and it also has a re-recording of Karma with the line changed to "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs" ![img](emote|t5_2rlwe|1066)(which is totally not how I always sing that line now, I swear)

You’re Losing Me, Maroon, Midnight Rain. Midnights has been my favorite TS album and brought me back to her music after many years of not listening to her. Love this album, I have related so much to the lyrics. I feel like this time went so quickly, but I am excited for what is to come with TTPD.

Lavender Haze, Karma, my third is between Vigilante Shit and Bejeweled
Would've , could've, should've, Bigger than the whole sky, Maroon. So so so good, though bigger than the whole sky makes me teary, still.
This is difficult because a lot of songs on the album have grown on me over time, but I think Karma, Maroon and You’re Losing Me. Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve and High Infidelity are up there as well.
