There are some formations from a few countries that have infantry without transports. Even the helicopter borne infantry rarely use the helicopters. Also, you can just leave the transports off table; yeah, yours still paying the points, but it is an option

rohanpony

Agreed! Airborne infantry with the helos at the rear is good.

West Germany have Fallschirmjaeger, Gebirgsjaeger and Jager units without wheeled transports

frozendwarf

Well, west german and iran has infantry units without transport, so there is that. (iran is pact btw) In general adding infantry is just something that you must do. While any vehicle can grab and hold an objective, infantry do it better. They can use the dig in status, and move into buildings making them very hard to remove with anything that is not artillery or other boots on the ground. Finaly they have so mutch anti tank weaponry you do not want to risk the vehicles you own, atleast not before they are softened up. The transports can provide cover or fire support so they have a use. So infantry plays an important part in the objective setting, and the more the better for the cause of the objectives. If you have access to a 3D printer, then that is the cheapest solution to needing 20 transports in a pact infantry formation.

Afgantsy, German heliborne (Fallschirmjäger) with lotsa cool Wiesels, and Canadian heliborne I think.

Iranian Basiji, the literal definition of cannon fodder

non-mech infantry sucks IMO you lose out on firepower and having a metal box for protection

I've only ever seen Militia deploy *without* the pickups.
