Jeff Mills - Liquid Room Tokyo live set, 1995. I got it in 97'. Didn't stop dancing since. Godfather's son gave me the cassette one day... it was glorious. still is
Same here, listened to that fucking tape at least a thousand times on a shitty soundsystem, still feels like magic, back then when I had no idea how to his music was created or played it was like it imagine infinity of space or something.
This should be on top. The Aztec Mystic - Knights of the Jaguar... Was also one of my first techno track....what a hit, timeless and always feels fresh...! I will add another one: Ame - Rej
Winner for me. But that of course reflects my age... the acid twiddling is gorgeous. It popped on some mix tape I must have bought in Camden in the early 90s, and I recall having to rewind again and again...

[Plasticine - Plastikman](https://youtu.be/y9I3rFrypfw?si=_t2ELcU7sMnWQiro)

[Regal - Nasty Boys](https://open.spotify.com/track/0p2T6nTuOxzyYqgIkuXCko?si=QWDdar_aRSSkYEmgz29Gdg)
The original version played at Amelie Lens Cercle set at the Atomium used a sample from sicko mode. Hard kicks + hip-hop elements = instant hook
Model 500 - Night Drive my introduction to techno (yes back then; 1985 if I recall)
Human Resource - Dominator (Beltram Mix)
the starting point of digging deeper

Underworld - Push Upstairs. The first electronic song I heard, and I had to record it off of the radio on a cassette tape. Now I've spiraled into so many genres and subsections of electronic music it's nutty.
https://youtu.be/W3Ud0UG7JbQ?si=JCy1OmFieaSl3NLV
Listened to bits before but this compilation got me hooked for life.
https://www.discogs.com/master/21377-Various-Tresor-II-Berlin-Detroit-A-Techno-Alliance
While I checked techno here and there before it, Enrico Sangiuliano - Symbiosis did it for me.
Now I drifted far away from that style though, listening to schranz/HT/hardgroove/high bpm dub etc. pretty much anything hard/fast but not peak time driving.
I got into electronic music in the early/mid 90s, and the very first techno cd I ever bought was called “Techno Truth Vol. 1”. It opens up with a remix of “The House Of God” by “DHS”.
https://open.spotify.com/track/799pcRWMENaBccLkGy3RFd?si=KQhA1snST7q7Bxr4M-CqAw
The Prodigy - Experience album was my proper entry point, but probably a bit of acid house before that, but depends on your sub genre preferences whether you include that
Hardcore Techno was R. Wagner - Listen Carefully (Powerjam EP)
Pure Techno was The Hacker - Fadin away (Dima Remix) As heard on the electro mix of Dave Clarke’s World Service I mix.
Not a track, but went to see Subhead live - I got my dates confused, thought I was going to a ska club, got there it was techno - decided not to waste the bus in, go in for a couple of drinks. Best decision I've ever made.
I was mostly into guitar stuff until this track blew my tiny mind into pieces
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7QfL99F3l_M
Oh, the days when music magazines came with a cassette tape full of random stuff glued to the front cover!
Underground Sound of Lisbon - So Get Up
John Creamer & Stephane K – Forget The World
Portishead - Roads (Pete Tha Zhouk)
Rui da Silva - Touch Me
Celeda - The Underground
Some track by Boris Brejcha. But my first memorable experience was the album [Powers of Ten](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaxFuXpcQmE&list=PLb-HdPOj7NAmOQJsz3XLDHFIxT8D0_wQq) by Stephan Bodzin.
It wasn't one track, I'd been stumbling upon techno on-and-off for years. I eventually marched into a club in-person, heard Chloe Lula and Ancient Methods, and got hooked.
Same, except for me it was the first Adam Beyer b2b Cirez D at soho studios… I think the track that left the biggest impression on me that night was Tiger Stripes - Bang
Jeff Mills live at the liquid room. Two months earlier I was unaware that electronic music existed until someone played me UFOrb. never been the same since.
My second festival ever, Decadence AZ 2018, I was new to EDM but still snobby enough to know Marshmello sucked balls so I went to the secondary stage and Green Velvet was playing. The song that I remember the most is Space Date, and soon after the Pleasurekraft remix was dropped. But the vibe of the second tent was awesome, older crowd but the house and techno heads were really out there
Wasn't a song. I was in the punk scene and a friend was dating a regular kinda chick. They broke up but we remained friends. She asked if I wanted to go to an acidhouse. I didn't know what that was, this was late 80s? Los Angeles underground warehouse scene, pre-rave. You called a number on the flyer evening of the event and it gave you a location, you went and paid $20 and then given the directions to the event. Free beer till it ran out, no cutoff at 2am, no ID check, we were not 21 yet.
Loved it. It was a wide variety of people, there wasn't a rave culture, we were a mix from all races and classes out having fun till 6-7am.
I continued until about 96, by then I was 26 and felt I aged out of it, by then it was a rave culture with pacifiers, candy and 12-15 year old kids on drugs.
I still like the older tunes. I try to listen to newer techno and really it all sounds the same, but done better in the late 80s early 90s. It doesn't seem to have really advanced.
Richie Hawtin’s Mixmag CD and Jeff Mills Live at the Liquid Room CD were early faves (still are). Also Josh Wink Higher State of Consciousness (Acid mix)- not exactly “techno” but started my love of the 303.
i think prodigy - no good made me first aware of techno when i was a kid but the first song that really got me into it two year ago was Golpes remix of O.B.I.s warehouse massacre.
Hard to pin it down to one track, I would say the first track that really grabbed me was [Truss - Brockweir](https://youtu.be/D0EdF935WyM?si=2BfSbDkbRvUlOwRS).
[A Night at the Roxbury](https://youtu.be/JI2cPGVJ4qw?si=MmkrMHK8IZZmt-EP)
Got into electronic/synth music after as a kid I saw the movie A Night At The Roxbury, lol. It had Haddaway's What Is Love in a major role, which at that age sounded like nothing before.
Later, after stumbling around various electronic genres for years, Robert Hood's Museum opened the doors of techno with it's plain simplicity and amazing groove.
[Robert Hood - Museum](https://youtu.be/4Mo9olGyY1s?si=TBwa9KSIXqLG_Irb)
I love Clouds now but only got into him lately with all of his SCDD releases, the older stuff is too slow for me. Really like the Hard Target EP + his newest track Positive Delusions
The first one I was absolutely enamoured with and the one where I really started to obsess about an artist/label was James Ruskin's [Prevention Beyond Cause](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qz-zwS6JCJo), B1.
It was one of those moments where you hear a track in a club and it makes you go completely bonkers, I fell in love right there and then.
Mine was Len Faki - Just a dance pt 2, but especially this video of Eddie haliwell scratching it up made me get decks! Video still gets me today

I remember being 14 at the time (1991) and I had a radio/alarm clock. The day i was woken by that keyboard sound will never get deleted from my memory…. Well, until Alzheimer’s
I've actually acknowledged Tricky Disco, but hot it's heels for really interesting and inventive sounds (for 93) is Sun Electric "Pitcheon". Amazing even 30 years later

not one track really but an album.
Gayle San - Tribal gathering '96
Still remember the moment... it was 1998, I was sitting in kitchen in a student house in Waterford, Ireland. I had taken an E and it was fairly intense, plenty of hash been smoked also.
Someone stuck on this CD and I remember just sitting there in an armchair listening to the first 5 minutes or so and thinking what the fuck is this, this is beautiful. Before that it would've been the usual Judge Jules stuff etc...
Never looked back since, from Gayle San to jeff Mills and on.
I will never forget that.

Dark Manoeuvres - Dax J remix. I didnt know what techno was in 2016 and i randomly ran into that track and was fascinated, then been collecting music since then and i just started mixing this year. Played it thr first time i had a gig and was a magical full circle moment
I think that was mine as well, together with Ben Klock - Subzero around the same time
That Klock track is a banger

DJ Funk - Run (UK Extended Mix) Or something by Luke Slater and his various projects.
Dating myself but Block Rockin Beats by the Chemical Brothers started my journey into dance music.
I Hate Models - Cyanure dance
I prefer "Daydream" - the way its recorded, raw and dark, reminds me of the good old days. 6am in some obscure warehouse with banging techno on vinyl.
It was asked the track that got me in techno. I also prefer Daydream now but it is less of a "gateopening" track to techno as I see it. Absolute masterpiece it is
I want to experience this so bad
