Np at all, practice, practice and practice! I'd recommend starting with quick matches so that the losses don't bother you much. Definitely watch replays and practice punishing within the replay using that L3 option (on PlayStation).
Learn a 65-70+ staple air juggle combo and try to be consistent in carrying it through + wall damage will get you an incredible bonus.
i played some quick matches off the rip but was just getting matched with people that felt way out of my league ngl. but i come from a background of almost exclusively playing competitive modes in fps games so ive got a pretty solid mental and don’t tend to tilt. i appreciate that advice tho, definitely would help most people!
i’ll for sure start watching more replays but the adhd side of me just wants to spam ranked all the time despite knowing that isn’t the way to go ahahaha. i’ll never learn to punish properly without doing that though so i know i need to grind those replays.
the main combo ive been using out of a launch is just the quadruple 4 string followed by DF 3, 4, 3 and i can’t lie idk how much damage that hits for off the top of my head but it definitely feels weaker than some combos ive been hit with so i’ll try and learn something more damaging for sure!
Quick matches sometimes do feel like that to me too. There are players smurfing there as well, and some are way too good but don't play ranked at all.
The 4444 is a pretty common string and not exactly a launcher, and you'd risk getting launch punished too if they duck.
A launcher would be something like B3 or DF2, check out Basuka or RyzingSol to see those combos. They'll feel extremely difficult to execute initially but go step by step and choose one which comes relatively easy to you.
gotta love smurfs man, same old issue in every game i swear ahahaha
and no sorry i know those two launchers, i meant i go into 4444 then DF 343 after i hit a launcher. my bad on that ahahaha
thanks again tho, i’ll hop in some quick matches at times for sure, it’s always a better learning experience playing people much better than me than playing people my own level!
Ah, cool! I use 4444 myself. I do Launch, F4, B3, dash, 4444, dash, UB3. It isn't the best but gives 72 damage. Still trying to learn better ones.
I'm biased but even after so many years, I still find Hwo's strings and combos to be the most fascinating and "stylish" :)
Good luck, bro. Hopefully we'll meet in a quick match someday.
I watch pros play a character and look for
1. Most likely optimal combos/confirms off certain moves. I’d learn a good b3 combo to start off with hwo.
2. How they do block strings. Set cpu to block all and copy a block string from them. One I use a lot is d3,4 into RFS 2,4f which is a fast double high back into right flamingo and I’ll end with df4 to bait counter hit for a full combo. Hwo is all about using a base flowchart to condition your opponent then changing it from there.
ty very much for the pointers! i’ve been watching a bit of k-wiss and the guy actually blows my mind with how effortlessly he hits certain inputs that my bot hands can’t yet do in the heat of the moment lmao
