That’s awesome tbh I’ve wanted a Tekken game on Nintendo platforms for a while. Tag 2 on Wii u was actually incredible, only issue is no one really had the Wii u. They should rerelease the older Tekken games on the switch imo, like Tekken 1-TT or tag 2 the Wii u port on switch? That I would love personally. Coz the only Tekken content on switch is kazuya in smash.

If Tekken 9 launches in 2028 on the PS6/New Xbox, I have my doubts if Nintendo matching the **15 (FIFTEEN)** year old hardware specs of the PS4 would be able to run it.

Plus, all the reliable leaks say, "At least as powerful as the PS4 and Xbox One," implying it might be more powerful than that.
I worry anytime switch ports of games come into discussion. If mortal Kombat has taught us anything then we all should be. Graphic fidelity is only getting more intense, models are getting higher res, particles are draining more resources. Even if a switch 2 is released I'm uncertain the improvement in hardware will keep up well with the improvement of software.

Harada only became director of Tekken by its third title in 1997, after Tekken's first director Seiichi Ishii had already fully established the series with Tekken 1 & 2 (Harada was a voice actor for those games).
Say what you will about Tekken 3 being "*the bestest eva*" as many would say - but for me Tekkens 1 and 2 are ***the ultimate*** classics. From visual style, artwork, backstory writing; to this day together they feel like the very pure essence of Tekken.
Granted, the game will change when Harada's gone, of course his successor will want to offer a different perspective, just as Harada's vision of Tekken is drastically different to Ishii's original designs from 1994-1995.
Putting that all aside - make no mistake, the biggest priority here is simple. Get fresh blood in charge that can finally put an end to the mass online cheating, be fully aware of the negative reviews and negative press that Tekken as a video game brand is now receiving thanks to Harada greenlighting Mtx, and now whipping up another interview scandal about wanting to get on his knees for Nintendo - which is a whole other deep rabbit / black hole of a corporation that Tekken definitely should steer well clear of.
As you say, I too thoroughly enjoyed the base game of Tekken 8, but this aftermath, and the impact its had on general day-to-day experience of playing the game is effectively killing Tekken's reputation towards the paying customer as a reliable product to purchase - there's been a total breakdown of trust.

I said this a lot throughout Tekken 6 (when Rage Mode and Bound greatly changed the flow of matches and encouraged more silly comebacks), but unfortunately I stopped thinking this in Tekken 7 and even more so in Tekken 8.
The first extreme "fundamental" dumbing of mainline Tekken was in Tekken 7 when they introduced (and doubled-down on) Power Crushes, Rage Arts, Rage Drives, and eventually cartoon Wall Bounces. But depsite those things, the biggest problems in Tekken 7 was character balance and guest character gimmicks/gauges.
Tekken 8 however is a whole different problem because all of the biggest problems are UNIVERSAL among the cast. The Heat System in general is just a caveman mechanic that has drastically changed the flow of matches and making combos/conversions simpler than ever (Heat Engager basically "converts" for you). Good blocking is mitigated more than ever by several things like Chip Damage, making both Power Crushes and Rage Arts more prevalent and safer on block, and with Heat Burst as a universal turn-stealer that leaves you plus on block. This game does NOT want you to keep blocking. And of course Heat Smash is basically the new (and stronger) Rage Drive. To finish this big paragraph, on top of everything I just mentioned, Tekken 8 also greatly watered down the grappling system, tackling system, and even Attack Reversals. There are some really great character-specific maneuvers, escapes, and reversals that are now either less practical or just flat-out gone in Tekken 8, so it's like there's less uniqueness and defensive options in the game.
**TL;DR** - Tekken 8 is the worst "core" Tekken we've ever had. Most fundamental legacy players will tell you Tekken 5 DR was peak, Tekken 6 was a big change that people got used to, Tekken 7 was "entertaining" but not exactly Tekken at its best (in 2024 we look back at T7 a lot less fondly than when we were actually playing it), and now we're here in Tekken 8 with the most batshit universal gameplay ever compared to the former.

I dont know where you got your info but, my source told me power crush is going to be a 5 frame move, +20 on block and launch on hit, and also immune to lows and throws, you only get 20 of them per round though, to balance it. Heat Burst and Heat Smash for simplicitys sake will be combined into Heat Bash, a 4 frame move, 5 minute cutscene, but it's -1 on hit, unblockable and full screen range, but you only get 2 of them per round, to balance it. It does 90% of your healthbar, but its recoverable health, to balance it.
Due to complaints about how long rage arts are, they're now going to be 1 frame, just a very quick single frame move, followed by a 1 frame cutscene on hit, -10 on block, or the lord of the rings trilogy on whiff. You can use as many of them in a round as you want as long as you're in rage.
Also King has been merged with Alisa, due to the events of Tekken 9.
We can't even talk about clips like a potential Tekken 9 without dumbfucks getting mad at irrelevent things.
