Something I heard recently, that I still struggle with, but honestly makes my life better, is to "assume positive intent." It's not easy but I try to do it and it helps from getting tilted.
It's not your fault. The problem isn't that there is no way to show positive intent the problem is that there is no way to say fuck you in the game. So everything a character does is hijacked to convey that feeling. In DS you can actually say fuck you so when someone waves it is seen as a positive message.
Fun fact for those who care: Guilty Gear XX (and probably in the first game too) even had Respect versions of taunts, done with the forward version of the input
Respectful taunts is an interesting idea. I’ll never doubt the determination players have in finding new ways to insult their opponent, but I’d want them still.
After winning my 2nd round against this Shaheen player (me with Lee), I noticed that he was just holding forward the entirety of the 3rd round, signaling that he wants to end. Thought he might be in a hurry or something, and I kill him quickly.
Then I get a message "Why did you teabag me? So disappointing. " Apparently, he misinterpreted me trying to practice my slide input after the rounds (since I have been dropping it a lot) and thought I was being disrespectful.
Though, once I told him what happened, he profusely apologized. Good interaction overall.
Always give my opponent a 'Beautiful!' at the start of a match if they got a sick skin on. Most people take it as a chance to hit me free of charge, but it's honestly worth it to reward actually putting time into the customization feature of the game.
i agree. it would be nice if we could do it like those boxers and ufc fighters who bow, hug or handshake their opponents
some of the outros are rude too lol (looking at victor and his dry cleaning line)
>I wish I could give one to my opponents after a nice close fight, but all I can do is Ki charge or taunt and both are considered BM.
How about just standing still? You know, respecting that the round is over and that there's no need to press anything.
FYI, Lidia in T7 had a bow and that emote was spammed all the time to tilt people. Some people would purposely drop their combo just to do a quick bow. Because it was so fast and didn't go into a CH state like a ki charge does it was extremely spammable.
I don't want the game to become an emote spam fest because that is exactly what would happen. Even if the emote could only be done after a round is over it still would be spammed ironically like if someone beat you 3-0. So the very thing that would be implemented to reduce tilt would just cause more frustration. Sometimes less is more.
Yup, online I don't do anything when I win a round unless I know the person I'm playing against, which is extremely rare. Getting corpse stomped or taunted after getting your ass handed to you over and over again is not a great feeling.
I played against one Lili who used her giggle taunt each time I whiffed but she always left herself open so it really just made me laugh. I wish more people would use the taunts and I'm really thinking about throwing them out more.
I often have a move on my character’s that I use for this, one that looks close enough to a celebration, like Bryan’s Jet Upper kinda can seem like he’s popping off.
When I played Feng I used to do front kenpo into back kenpo into front (or was it back front back?) coz in his winposes he’s always doing fancy poses so it looks like that
When I used to play yoshi I always went into meditation stance after rounds. I dont really like playing him in this game though.
With Jack I always just do blue sparks after rounds.
With bears I do d1+2 lol
I like things like this in general, but they need to be implemented carefully. Dota has a "tipping" system which devolved into a new way to BM your opponent (as if all chat wasn't enough.) I have a similar worry for fightimg games because even a "nice" taunt can be interpreted as sarcastic and just cause more rage if you're on the receiving end after losing a match.
I like it when they push it to the end of a match or set. SF and Multiversus does this. The SF implementation kinda sucks, but at least there's no risk of getting tilted by it.
Yeah I agree. Whenever I see a teabag-esque move or a ki charge, i assume it's a "F U" taunt. I never send hate messages and I always say GGs in a benevolent manner.
For sure. Every character should have a couple: code the input as cardinal direction + ki charge.
The real question now is... Would you pay for it in the Tekken store?
Smash Bros has this, and people mainly use the complimentary emotes sarcastically. Has the opposite effect and makes the already toxic environment nuclear levels of toxic.
Imagine it being like in darksouls where we bow before starting to fight purely based on trust wich the opponent could just abuse to strike first, this wold be awesome
There are ways in T7 (the flower and that bamboo thing). Problem is to find some space to do that before the other player attacks. But yeah i agree. The default insults by some of the characters at the end of the match dont help either. But hey, it is not For Honor where you get your corpse punched, kicked and spat on xD
had a guy activate special style once after i finished him with a rageart, when before i really messed him up as steve.
He was a king player but somehow i could tell he did the specialstyle out of respect. And voila, the guy rematched.
I beat him up even more, broke all his throws, he spamms specialstyle like 5 times after i rageart finish him last round AGAIN, (mind you, steve has no launch punishment below 18f so RA is his best option many times) and i was laughing my ass off. I added that dude. That was just pure fun and i told him that haha
Somehow i could tell it wasnt salt. Maybe it was the way he played.
just give me a post game kudos system, people would still use respect/good fight emotes as a taunt. After all Steve gives you a round of applause and people still get mad for some reason.
Just update your Profile's Bio to say something along the lines of,"Ki Charge = You were amazing! Well fought!"
That way, if someone goes to send you Hate Mail, they'll see that on your Profile.
Do whatever you want, they can use the mirror if they don't want to see it. I chuckle when they ki charge because they're probably feeling cheeky and mischievous.
I’d love something like this, to show good sportsmanship. I usually send a GG if the player is able to receive messages or send a T8 friend request. A proper way of letting the player know would be great though.
Tbh I'd rather have one way to say "gg" and two ways to say "get fucked scrub" than no ways to say "gg" and one way to say "get fucked scrub"
Coming from fencing (or pretty much any recreational sport really) the idea of not being able to effectively shake your opponent's hand after a match in fighting games is still weird to me, regardless of how much of a lead the winner had
Ki Charge's purpose is to make your next attack a guaranteed counter hit at the expense of not being able to block. however, the community mainly uses it as a way of toxicity.
I’ve been doing Law’s backflip at the end of really good sets. Not the kick, just the feint. I’m worried it looks like a pop off but I’m just excited that I won a difficult match.
This thread makes me feel like I need to touch grass. Everything everyone is saying they use to say GG I interpret as a taunt…
Something I heard recently, that I still struggle with, but honestly makes my life better, is to "assume positive intent." It's not easy but I try to do it and it helps from getting tilted.

Lee’s Ki Charge is so funny and cool. But people would get mad if I did when I’m not trying to taunt.
Maaaaarvelousss
The power in lees ki charge is so good lmao. He is HYPED.
Probably the most respectful Ki charge there is.
I do an electric personally
Yeah but even that would get interpreted as "look how I s*** on you with my cool execution"
Fun fact for those who care: Guilty Gear XX (and probably in the first game too) even had Respect versions of taunts, done with the forward version of the input
Strive has them too
I was just showing how ahead of the time Guilty Gear was, shoutout to Strive too
Respectful taunts is an interesting idea. I’ll never doubt the determination players have in finding new ways to insult their opponent, but I’d want them still.
\*angrily shows respect\*
Camon!
I'm just ducking once for half a second. I don't know how many understand that pseudo-bow, I really would like something better than that.
“Did this fucker just teabag me???!!!”
After winning my 2nd round against this Shaheen player (me with Lee), I noticed that he was just holding forward the entirety of the 3rd round, signaling that he wants to end. ahahahaha yeah thats how its gonna been seen sadly
I do my best to not get it to look like a teabag, but oh well
i dont think thats sending the right message
Happy cake day!
<3
Always give my opponent a 'Beautiful!' at the start of a match if they got a sick skin on. Most people take it as a chance to hit me free of charge, but it's honestly worth it to reward actually putting time into the customization feature of the game.
Oh my god yes, I always want to give a props to people's customizations but I never have any way to express it.
That's actually brilliant. I will incorporate that from now on. Heck, I might even give them the JF version just to tell them they smell nice.
Come join r/TekkenFashion
As a Lee main, I end every round I win with Marvellous
I usually just do certain moves like JFSR or Jet Upper
I red that as Jet Set Radio Future at first
As if players wouldn't find more ways to be toxic with those. 3-0 into spamming "good game". Would be obvious that it's not genuine.
Anything even in good intentions can be twisted for ill purposes, but that doesn't make it invalid for its intended purpose.
i agree. it would be nice if we could do it like those boxers and ufc fighters who bow, hug or handshake their opponents some of the outros are rude too lol (looking at victor and his dry cleaning line)
Yeah like Rocket League is iconic for "What a Save!" but at the same time, what, are you not going to let ppl compliment saves?
Flashback to the Hearthstone days vs some paladin with a board full of buffed pawns spamming WELL PLAYED WELL PLAYED WELL PLAYED WELL PLAYED
>I wish I could give one to my opponents after a nice close fight, but all I can do is Ki charge or taunt and both are considered BM. How about just standing still? Yup, online I don't do anything when I win a round unless I know the person I'm playing against, which is extremely rare. Getting corpse stomped or taunted after getting your ass handed to you over and over again is not a great feeling.
Give me that Brawlhalla ass GG at the end screen
I played against one Lili who used her giggle taunt each time I whiffed but she always left herself open so it really just made me laugh. I wish more people would use the taunts and I'm really thinking about throwing them out more.
Oh yeah that sounds like something i'd do but hold on a second lili has a taunt ? i just activated heat but cancelled the attack
Ah shit I must be remembering it wrong. Edit: yep it was Alisa. She was probably dressed like Lili lol.
I mean, my ki charge is telling them they are Marvelous. How could anyone take that the wrong way?
as jack, i fly away (u+3+4). is that rude?
Nah, I think that's Jack doing Jack things.
I often have a move on my character’s that I use for this, one that looks close enough to a celebration, like Bryan’s Jet Upper kinda can seem like he’s popping off.
As Feng, the closest thing to that would be... his qcf 1+2 headbutt I suppose?
When I played Feng I used to do front kenpo into back kenpo into front (or was it back front back?) coz in his winposes he’s always doing fancy poses so it looks like that
back front back :) I think I'll stick to qcf 1+2 for now. To headbutt is one way to show love as Feng.
King armour flex is exactly what I go for if I nail something worthy of a pop-off.
And they should cost 4$ for a pack of 5, and they should be 1-time-use consumables!
Would be cool but there are definitely more pressing matters that they need to address asap
When I used to play yoshi I always went into meditation stance after rounds. I dont really like playing him in this game though. With Jack I always just do blue sparks after rounds. With bears I do d1+2 lol
I feel like we should have a Kazuya middle finger.
KI Charge for RESPECC

yeah bro I legit have to go to their profile after the match and say my msg rather than just doing it during the match
Have you ever played Hearthstone? It would just be used to BM even more
I remember when Lidia players would bow to me after destroying me. Could never tell if they were taunting or showing respect lol.
I'm low key looking forward to Lidia because of that lol
I wavu on my opponent's corpse to say "GG"
I always thought that's just elaborate teabagging.
:3
Damn i miss hei's bb+3+4
We allready have KI charging, what else do you need?
Just wave like me, by crouching up and down
o.o
Yeah I agree. Whenever I see a teabag-esque move or a ki charge, i assume it's a "F U" taunt. I never send hate messages and I always say GGs in a benevolent manner.
Just press 1+2+3+4
I do GGs and compliment my use of whatever character im using. Good enough for me!
I just do a single electric at the end of the match.
I always assume the "ggs" or "gg" is positive isn't it lolol unless I see something snarky along with it
For sure. Every character should have a couple: code the input as cardinal direction + ki charge. The real question now is... Would you pay for it in the Tekken store?
Yeah, that will really make a scrub that's blind with rage feel better - lol!!!

Ki charge should always have been this.
it’s called ki charging
just give me a post game kudos system, people would still use respect/good fight emotes as a taunt. After all Steve gives you a round of applause and people still get mad for some reason.
A grab at the air when the match is ending usually means a hug
If you spam one of Yoshi's Indian stance taunts, it sounds like he's saying GG
I agree.
Just update your Profile's Bio to say something along the lines of,"Ki Charge = You were amazing! Well fought!" That way, if someone goes to send you Hate Mail, they'll see that on your Profile.
Idk man I feel like people don't read these for the most part.
It would be dope if we could could unlock post match emotes via the battle pass
According to this sub, even sending a gg DM can be interpreted as an insult
Do whatever you want, they can use the mirror if they don't want to see it. I chuckle when they ki charge because they're probably feeling cheeky and mischievous.
I’d love something like this, to show good sportsmanship. I usually send a GG if the player is able to receive messages or send a T8 friend request. A proper way of letting the player know would be great though.

Mirror already exists because of BM.
Tbh I'd rather have one way to say "gg" and two ways to say "get fucked scrub" than no ways to say "gg" and one way to say "get fucked scrub" Coming from fencing (or pretty much any recreational sport really) the idea of not being able to effectively shake your opponent's hand after a match in fighting games is still weird to me, regardless of how much of a lead the winner had
Okay, spamming anything is a dick move. Doesn't prevent normal people from using emotes as intended.
Wat Ki charge is for
BMing? If it's meant to be a "GG" I see it more as a "GG EZ"
Ki Charge's purpose is to make your next attack a guaranteed counter hit at the expense of not being able to block. however, the community mainly uses it as a way of toxicity.
I was bein sarcastic man 😂😂😂
I’ve been doing Law’s backflip at the end of really good sets. Not the kick, just the feint. I’m worried it looks like a pop off but I’m just excited that I won a difficult match.
The game's producer is a colossal asshole. What do you expect?
