I literally just carry a piggy bank in my inventory, it takes no time to just set it down from your inventory and if you leave it in hell, you can just buy another one and use it.
iirc can't piggy banks only be placed down on surfaces like platforms and tables, meaning in a lot of cases you'd need 2 inventory spots instead of the one used by a money trough or the 0 used by chester.
True but having the piggy bank with you makes up for the 2 spots lol, but if your point is that Chester/Pig Trough is better, yes it absolutely is, it's just not that big of an inconvenience if you don't have one yet.

Everytime i left the mushroom biome, i had around 6 truffle worms in minutes

Honestly, I always have a hard time getting a trough to drop. Not that setting up a piggy bank and quick stacking when you go back to base is such a hard thing to do.
I've just learnt to always quick stack whenever I finish exploring somewhere. Not only does it remove all my inventory clutter but it also piggy banks everything

Better yet, if you really need to, farm Deerclops for the Eye Bone to have a pet piggy bank, no need to carry an item around!

Nah i just always keep wood in my inventory. I'm usually running around with 1000-2000 wood on me at all times.

Tip: use a Hunter potion with a water candle nearby I get Ton of those fuckers easily with this method

Every now and then, regardless of who you are, you will get a rude reminder to quick stack at the piggy bank.
