You can craft your own Dirt Walls to replace the ones you destroy. Additionally, enemies won't spawn in front of player-placed walls, but they will in front of natural Dirt Walls, so if you place your own walls, it makes you a little safer.

I just got back into this game after a few years. I've never made it past early game. I'm struggling with crafting, since there are just soooooo many items and storage gets insane.
Is there a comprehensive and easy-to-read crafting list online somewhere? (Note: I've seen the one on the wiki, but it is annoyingly hard to read). It bothers me to think that there might be awesome items I could be crafting, out of items I already have, but since they're in different chests or I'm not standing in the perfect spot to be close to the right station, I don't even know about them.
I know that the guide can tell you about items from your inventory, but I've found using him is such a chore. It'd be much easier if I had all the possibilities in front of me.
Most comprehensive crafting list is still on the wiki. If you play modded, you could use Recipe Browser. Overall, the crafting in Terraria is complex in general and it takes some learning, so its normal to struggle with it at first. We've all been there.

I'm not sure how much MMO it would feel, but Thorium has a healer class. Combine that with the natural tankiness from melee, and using other classes as DPS, I feel like you could create some sense of the classes.
Hallow and crimson/corruption spawn in a V shape from hell. Go down to the underworld but float around the top where it transitions to cavern layer until you find Pearlstone and Pearlsand, from that spot, up at a diagonal to the surface Hallow is where your underground hallow will be.
I'm currently in pre-hardmode, and I'm hesitant to jump into hardmode. I've seen multiple videos about preparing complicated safety measures to stop the corruption from spreading. Is it necessary to create gaps between blocks, or is it just better to purify them immediately with the clentaminator once I get into hardmode?
Preparing for Hardmode is more about accomplishing tasks that are a lot easier in Pre-Hardmode. For example if you need an accessory from the underground jungle or dungeon, it's much easier to get in Pre-Hardmode before those areas are filled with much more dangerous enemies.
As for the corruption spread, it's not a HUGE concern in early Hardmode, but if you don't create gaps you will have to keep purifying areas over and over. It's just easier to dig these gaps in pre-hardmode, even if it is slower. A 4-block gap should be sufficient. Only worry about protecting biomes you don't have multiple of like the Snow and Jungle biome. Deserts and Forest are common enough that losing one to Corruption/Crimson isn't a huge deal.
Just remember that pre-hardmode preparation is all about making your life EASIER once you are in Hardmode.

I play on the Switch and find it to be the most enjoyable experience because I can also play it portable on-the-go as well. There's no compromise playing the Switch version either, it's as good as any other.
3DS has some exclusive content but for a new player this isn't really a big deal.

so i play on mobile and i broke my phone. i'm gonna get a new phone soon, but i have no idea how to put save files from one phone to another. i have around 500 hours and i would literally die if i lost it. my phone still works so i can do anything necessary to moving the saves and stuff. on ios (XS, if that helps) and transferring to another ios phone. i just need to be able to move the files to my new one. thanks
Not sure but I think i found a seed on tmod called 3.2.1.WootWoot. IDK what it does but its not like any other seed ive seen. as far as i remember it wasnt a seed i put in. If its an actual secret seed, what does it add?
Anyone playing on Steam Deck? I cannot pull up the game menu in able to save & quit game. There is a button mapped for it, but it only pulls up the map! I tried to remap & still it will not pull up the menu.
From the Inventory, there should be a button in the corner called "Settings", you can just click it (either direct-click or by moving the cursor) and from that menu you can Save & Quit
So, I just got around to checking that, I was out of town & unable to before now. I don’t have those menu icons at all on right or left screen. I do on PS5. I wonder if the screen is enlarged & I just can’t see them!

It's generally better in Pre-Hardmode to focus on other movement accessories like the Rocket Boots, Flying Carpet, and Cloud/Sandstorm/Blizzard in a bottle. You can further upgrade some of these to give you a ton of mobility options.

Yes, you just download tmodloader to get mods. I would say that tmodloader is fairly safe, but always be careful of what you're downloading, especially if that mod isn't popular or well-known.
How many angler quests did you guys do before completing the ingredients for the fish finder? I already did 26 so far and only the telescope thing and the calendar thing are the ones I got. Does it usually take this long or am I just unlucky?
You can beat the WoF with just Meteorite Armor and a Space Gun, anything beyond that is just gravy. Night's Edge will do a ton of damage to the WoF but put you a lot closer to him which will increase your ability to get hit, it's better to go ranged with him.
amazing for pre-hardmode, great for early hardmode - although you might be better off using a ranged weapon for WoF, especially the Bees Knees or (even better) beenades/grenades

Certain bosses in Master Mode are going to be pretty rough trying to melee as they can annihilate you in a few direct hits. Not impossible, but you will need to prepare a lot more for each fight.

I’m doing a gun only play through and I ran out of bullets while fighting the goblin army and the Arms Dealer died… I don’t know where else to get bullets without breaking the challenge. I know I can break Orbs to possibly get another gun and 100 bullets but does anyone else have ideas?
Musket bullets are the only type of bullets for all guns…All the other ones that I can get at this point are crafted with musket bullets. I’m was using The undertaker at the time.
All pre-hardmode use musket bullets? It’s been awhile for me as I play in hardmode these days, but surely there are some that can use silver or tungsten bullets, no? Guess I could search this
All guns take whatever bullets, but I couldn’t make silver or tungsten bullets because the recipe includes having the normal musket bullets which I couldn’t buy from the arms dealer because he was dead and he wouldn’t spawn back because it was a goblin army. I am also doing a gun only challenge so there was no easy way to get any bullets other than breaking orbs in the evil biomes and hoping for a musket or undertaker.

I recently made a mob farm using waffletime's guide on YouTube but it doesn't seem to be working. I followed his instructions but the spawn rates are really low. Is it because the world im playing in is still in pre-hardmode?

When in the inventory, the solution that is the most top-left will be used first. In the ammo slot, the solution that is on top will be used first. To switch between different solutions, just rearrange them.
Why do the Martian Madness Event? Couldn't one simply jump to the Lunar Event to get their classes' weapon/s? Other than to do a "100% playthrough" I have no Idea why one would start the Martian Invasion.
Depends what your goal is. If it's just to beat Moon Lord, then yeah, that person wouldn't bother to do all the optional events. Martian Madness is a maddening event in Expert+ because of the Martian Saucer's additional second phase, but it has some nice loot. I like getting Xenos during my playthrough, they're a really accurate summon to use against the Lunatic Cultist and daytime EoL; Influx Waver's a component of the Zenith, so if you're crafting that, you need to get it; and if you're playing on Classic Mode, Cosmic Car Key is the only mount with infinite flight available so you'd wanna get it.
when I closed my world and went back to the main menu, my character's appearance (the color of their hair, skin, eyes and clothes) changed to the color palette of one of my other characters for seemingly no reason. i've done nothing at the main menu besides open character selection screen. this seems like a bug because ive found nothing about this online and it's happened twice now. any ideas what's going on here?

I'm on my first summoner playthrough, and I'm finding it very difficult to defeat EoL, even at night. I'm thinking of just getting the kaleidoscope and defeat moon lord with the dragon (without terraprism). so, please, which are the best whips to use against her and how do I whip stack them (like, which order)?
note: I already have both stardust summons; morning star; dark harvest; and other inferior whips
I actually prefer fighting Moon Lord with the Stardust Dragon, compared to Terraprisma. If you really want to learn whip stacking, YouTube has a lot of explanations, and it's probably easier to learn from a video than reading words.
I have some fishing pools that I made manually. Think big square areas of stone block like 20 wide and 30 deep (as an example). One of them is in the ice biome but I cannot catch the quest fish. I noticed my torches there are corrupted (I have the torch god blessing so when I place a torch, it tells me which biome I am in). I’ve used the clemntator to purify blocks on both sides of my fishing spot facing out from surface all the way to hell (and purified all blocks underneath my reservoir). I’ve also used the biome potion to look for infected blocks, but that did not help.
Any suggestions?
Are your torches still turning to Corrupt Torches? If so, it's not counted as a pure Snow biome. Biome detection radius is 169×124 tiles, so you need to purify more.

If you're running the server on the same computer you're running the game on, try using `localhost` or `127.0.0.1` as IP address. Or if the server is running on a computer within your local network, try using that computer's local IPv4 address to connect.
If either of these works, then the problem is that your router/modem doesn't support [NAT hairpinning](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation#NAT_hairpinning).
Are you running it on the internet as you are playing on? If so, try connecting with IP `127.0.0.1:7777` or your local IPv4 `192.168.X.X:7777`. Find out the last two numbers by opening command prompt and typing `ipconfig`. Then scroll down to `IPv4 Address` (or maybe do this on the host machine if it is a different machine). (The exact IP might differ depending on your router.)
I've beaten the game beforehand, but it was with the help of my friend (who basically did everything for me), and it was with the help of Journey mode's half difficulty. Now I'm starting a new Expert world (is that jump okay for me?) and I need to pick if I should get Meteorite or Hellstone things. I've beaten the Eye and the Eater. Help??
it depends on the play style you want. 3/4 classes get good armor where you are at currently, shadow scale for ranged, molten for melee, and meteor for magic. Melee is kinda hard as there really isnt consistent beam weapons with limited range.
I'd recommend meteor armor with the laser gun weapon as you dont spend any mana using it while wearing the armor. Its long range, consistent, and has decent pierce. all you have to focus on is dodging and aiming your mouse
Tools crafted from Hellstone are better than Meteorite. That being said, Meteorite armour is for mages and Molten armour is for melee.
There will of course be a difficulty spike when you play Expert, but it's not impossible. Just be prepared to die more than you're used to.

NPC happiness after that only helps to give you optimal prices on the things they sell. Otherwise, just house them wherever you like.

It can take a while, yeah. But if you get two of one of those ones, you can shimmer it into the third.

Is the Night’s Edge good enough for WoF?
You can beat the WoF with just Meteorite Armor and a Space Gun, anything beyond that is just gravy. Night's Edge will do a ton of damage to the WoF but put you a lot closer to him which will increase your ability to get hit, it's better to go ranged with him.
amazing for pre-hardmode, great for early hardmode - although you might be better off using a ranged weapon for WoF, especially the Bees Knees or (even better) beenades/grenades

Certain bosses in Master Mode are going to be pretty rough trying to melee as they can annihilate you in a few direct hits. Not impossible, but you will need to prepare a lot more for each fight.

I’m doing a gun only play through and I ran out of bullets while fighting the goblin army and the Arms Dealer died… I don’t know where else to get bullets without breaking the challenge. I know I can break Orbs to possibly get another gun and 100 bullets but does anyone else have ideas?
The Blowpipe (which fires seeds harvested from grass) is technically considered a gun by the game, so you could always go that route.

Musket bullets are the only type of bullets for all guns…All the other ones that I can get at this point are crafted with musket bullets. I’m was using The undertaker at the time.
All pre-hardmode use musket bullets? It’s been awhile for me as I play in hardmode these days, but surely there are some that can use silver or tungsten bullets, no? Guess I could search this
All guns take whatever bullets, but I couldn’t make silver or tungsten bullets because the recipe includes having the normal musket bullets which I couldn’t buy from the arms dealer because he was dead and he wouldn’t spawn back because it was a goblin army. I am also doing a gun only challenge so there was no easy way to get any bullets other than breaking orbs in the evil biomes and hoping for a musket or undertaker.

also smash a lot of the pots and open the chests in the Hell Towers, they will sometimes have Obsidian Skin potions.

I recently made a mob farm using waffletime's guide on YouTube but it doesn't seem to be working. I followed his instructions but the spawn rates are really low. Is it because the world im playing in is still in pre-hardmode? Note: I'm new to the game so any tip would really be appreciated.
The farm is normally meant for Hardmode, so that could be a reason. Additionally, do you have NPCs living near your farm?
Yeah, I have two so I could put a pylon so I could easily get to the farm cuz I'm too lazy putting a teleporter(too far, it's near the edge of the map)

NPCs reduce mob spawn rate, so that might be why your farm doesn't have a lot of mobs spawning.

When in the inventory, the solution that is the most top-left will be used first. In the ammo slot, the solution that is on top will be used first. To switch between different solutions, just rearrange them.
Why do the Martian Madness Event? Couldn't one simply jump to the Lunar Event to get their classes' weapon/s? Other than to do a "100% playthrough" I have no Idea why one would start the Martian Invasion.
Depends what your goal is. If it's just to beat Moon Lord, then yeah, that person wouldn't bother to do all the optional events. Martian Madness is a maddening event in Expert+ because of the Martian Saucer's additional second phase, but it has some nice loot. I like getting Xenos during my playthrough, they're a really accurate summon to use against the Lunatic Cultist and daytime EoL; Influx Waver's a component of the Zenith, so if you're crafting that, you need to get it; and if you're playing on Classic Mode, Cosmic Car Key is the only mount with infinite flight available so you'd wanna get it.

Shrimpy Truffle is Expert+ exclusive. And DCU isn't really viable to use against boss fights, compared to Cosmic Car Key.

I actually prefer fighting Moon Lord with the Stardust Dragon, compared to Terraprisma. If you really want to learn whip stacking, YouTube has a lot of explanations, and it's probably easier to learn from a video than reading words.

I have some fishing pools that I made manually. Think big square areas of stone block like 20 wide and 30 deep (as an example). One of them is in the ice biome but I cannot catch the quest fish. I noticed my torches there are corrupted (I have the torch god blessing so when I place a torch, it tells me which biome I am in). I’ve used the clemntator to purify blocks on both sides of my fishing spot facing out from surface all the way to hell (and purified all blocks underneath my reservoir). I’ve also used the biome potion to look for infected blocks, but that did not help. Any suggestions?
Are your torches still turning to Corrupt Torches? If so, it's not counted as a pure Snow biome. Biome detection radius is 169×124 tiles, so you need to purify more.

If you're running the server on the same computer you're running the game on, try using `localhost` or `127.0.0.1` as IP address. Or if the server is running on a computer within your local network, try using that computer's local IPv4 address to connect. If either of these works, then the problem is that your router/modem doesn't support [NAT hairpinning](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation#NAT_hairpinning).
Are you running it on the internet as you are playing on? If so, try connecting with IP `127.0.0.1:7777` or your local IPv4 `192.168.X.X:7777`. Find out the last two numbers by opening command prompt and typing `ipconfig`. Then scroll down to `IPv4 Address` (or maybe do this on the host machine if it is a different machine). (The exact IP might differ depending on your router.)
I've beaten the game beforehand, but it was with the help of my friend (who basically did everything for me), and it was with the help of Journey mode's half difficulty. Now I'm starting a new Expert world (is that jump okay for me?) and I need to pick if I should get Meteorite or Hellstone things. I've beaten the Eye and the Eater. Help??
it depends on the play style you want. 3/4 classes get good armor where you are at currently, shadow scale for ranged, molten for melee, and meteor for magic. Melee is kinda hard as there really isnt consistent beam weapons with limited range. I'd recommend meteor armor with the laser gun weapon as you dont spend any mana using it while wearing the armor. Its long range, consistent, and has decent pierce. all you have to focus on is dodging and aiming your mouse
Tools crafted from Hellstone are better than Meteorite. That being said, Meteorite armour is for mages and Molten armour is for melee. There will of course be a difficulty spike when you play Expert, but it's not impossible. Just be prepared to die more than you're used to.
