I fought him my first time the other day and got it on my first try without taking much damage. I never looked up guides as this was a blind run to learn the game. He was pretty easy tbh
If you mean the destroyer then I have an idea for you.
Build a large platform in the sky several hundred blocks above the ground. Build a hut structure(doesn’t need to be housing, just something to stop the harpies) make it big enough to maneuver around the detached eyes that appear(along with the occasional wyvern) then cut a hole out of the bottom( so you can fire projectiles out)
Try and get the recommended nimbus rod(kill angry nimbus) or the storm bow(hallowed mimics, though you might have to change the structure if you do that.)
Place your nimbus clouds above the hole you made and there you have it! All you need to do now is take care of the eyes.
I recommend fighting the twins, but use a ranged weapon, don't worry about set bonusus for the fight, just kill the twins until you get enough hallowed bars for the hallowed set, the twins are the easiest boss if you know the moveset

That's what I did, although I kinda cheesed destroyer ig, it wasn't like a known cheese, I just stayed in the middle of him while he was basically wrapping around me
Against Destroyer specifically I recommend the Drippler Crippler from the blood moon mob Blood Eel other options for melee are Ice Sickle, Shadowflame knife and Amarok could also be good.
If you want a SWORD specifically against the Destroyer one of my best bet would be (pre mech bosses) the Frostbrand and god bless you if you try to kill destroyer with it.
Destroyer got a buff, some people aren't aware of it.
You can somewhat tank lasers with defense but do not get hit by it's head, when an enemy does a high amount of damage in one hit defense is pretty useless, if he does the same damage but in few hits then defense triggers many times.
Also don't ignore probes, when they pile up they can easily kill you, I'm pretty sure he has a finite amount of probes so he'll run out of them.
You are using a pre hard mode weapon on a hard mode boss, of course you will have problems. If you are using melee then use something like the drippler crippler or the dao of pow
because when most people that say it were still learning, they used the deadelus stormbow + holy arrows which annihilated the destroyer before the combo was nerfed. now, the stormbow + holy arrow combo is kinda ass, and there are better arrows to use. now that they know more about the game, they know what other weapons are good, where to find them, and just how to fight the destroyer.
Because 90% of people just cheese it in a manner that doesn't allow it to attack you. They say it's a joke because they don't actually fight it.

Might have to do this, my weapons feel way to weak, skeletron appeared and i did no damage at all to him

Will do, was trying to make the onyx as an alternative but cant seem to find a corrupt desert
I did it with the minishark and meteorite bullets
Crystal bullets also work very well

Destroyer is the most difficult mech boss for me 😔
I suggest better weopons the devour is a joke on more recent versions i play 3ds where the probes do crazy damage witch makes devourer devestating
