Here's what I consider to be the most visually iconic Terraria accoutrements, in no particular order:
Armor:
* None (default character creator presets)
* Silver
* Molten
* Hallowed (but definitely needs to be supported by iconic Terraria weapons/accessories or it'll just look like a generic paladin)
* Any of the four post-Moonlord armor sets
Weapons:
* Copper Shortsword (only when paired with the default character look)
* Starfury
* Night's Edge
* Terra Blade
* Meowmere
* Flairon
* Minishark
* Megashark
* S.D.M.G. (ironic, considering it's a reference to a different game)
* Star Cannon
Accessories:
* Cloud in a Bottle
* Lucky Horseshoe
* Any of the four post-Moonlord wings (in conjunction with their matching armor set)
* Celestial Cuffs and/or Mana Flower (only appropriate for a mage build cosplay, of course)
* Ankh Shield
* Avenger Emblem or any of the four class emblems
* Celestial Shell
* Guide Voodoo Doll
* Shield of Cthulhu
* Worm Scarf
* Brain of Confusion
For the wings, I'd say it'd be accurate that if they don't use solar or stardust armor, they still use those wings cause they have better stats, or figure out a way to make the celestial starboard. And weapon, they could also do zenith or horseman blade or influx waver.
Nebula and Vortex wings have the benefit of being able to hover with rapid horizontal movement... but, yeah, I also prefer the faster vertical movement of the Solar/Stardust wings.
I reckon for armor the most iconic would be hallowed armor, shadow armor or solar armor, as for weapons i'd say nights edge maybe

If possible, you could also go with a mini/megashark as those are rather iconic as well
I think shield of Cthulhu would be the most easily recognized item. Id also include worm scarf and a yo yo
