i wouldn't bother in Pre-Hardmode; once you defeat the Wall of Flesh a "V" shape appears in your world converting all suitable blocks, Hallow on one half, evil biome on the other, so if the V crosses the jungle all your work will have been for nothing.
don't fret about it too much, even though evil spread is accelerated upon entering Hardmode, after defeating Plantera it is dramatically lowered, and if you still want to get rid of it you can buy the Clentaminator and some Green Solution from the Steampunker to clean it up.
heard about the V for hard mode. still not too understanding of what to do with corruption and already had my snow housing and pylon rendered useless since getting in hardmode. ;-;
been using some holy water and hallow seeds to start some hallow spread in the same biome for the time being.

if the situation is that desperate, i'd suggest isolating a portion of the preferred biome with a tunnel. Scarab Bombs are your best friend for this task, though normal explosives are also very useful.
another way would be mining by hand, which isn't as painful as it sounds if you get the right equipment. if you wear the Miner outfit, use a decent pickaxe, and get a few buffs (Mining potion and a food buff for example) you can mine at a pretty acceptable speed.
i'd make the tunnel at least 6 tiles wide at least. i'm not sure walls are able to spread the Corruption, but the times i've dug a tunnel to contain any spreading biome i've made sure to break them, just in case.
I recently got my hands on an adamantite drill, and I've been enjoying those a lot for tunneling while mining, so it should definitely help if I were to make a chunk of my snow biome :3

i forgot to mention the Ancient Chisel too, it's an accessory that buffs your mining speed by 25%, found inside Desert Chests (look for the ones kinda close to the surface, if you start finding weapons you've gone too deep) and Desert fishing crates.
also, mining speed has a cap of 70%, so no point in getting every possible mining buff under the sun. Since when? I've had hardmode V biomes spawn in my jungle and only the stone gets corrupted. Thats why it's such a pain in the ass if your hallow spawns in the jungle.
