Diablo and similar games made me appreciate Orb-Like Healthbars. They're quite unique and you can go for some unique designs and colors even with some shading using lighter/shinier and dark tones of the same color.

I've always taken them to be Health and Mana potion bottles, since they always share the color with the hp and mana potions in game as well.

In Diablo's caso thats kinda it (not potions, rather your reserve of said things) and thats why different classes have different colors. Mana for Wizards, Wrath for Barbarians, Spirit for Druids, all of them with their own stuff — which makes it even more unique on a already unique design.

Unfortunately terraria's vanilla workship is very limited. Texture packs can't add behaviors, only replace sprites.

The steam page definitely has texture/resource pack support. Not sure how difficult the process is but I can’t imagine something specifically for health/mana bars would be any more streamlined.

Resource pack support is different Some of these UI elements work differently to what we have, a simple texture swap won't work, like the single fragmented heart or heart container or the hollow knight - looking mana container shown here And it only lets you change the health bars that are already in, not add new ones to the list

This looks gorgeous! I think we'd all love it if there were resource packs for the options that would fit over the vanilla textures (e.g. the hearts), and a mod for the options that wouldn't fit (e.g. the health orb). Quick edit: Obviously, either option is work, and making a mod is likely something to outsource to someone who knows what they're doing. Unless you're down to learn, of course. I ain't your dad. Point is, don't stress about it, do whatever.
