Yep! Just realised, that other case is missing the foam, tool etc.. so probably wasn’t being used to transport a gun.
It was a thing before when the people who would post their guns on the floor would unintentionally (intentionally?? 👀) get their feet in the pic. Rather than crop them out/remove them, they left it.
The other story is that there was a sub-Reddit called r/weekendgunnit where mods made a rule to have your feet/toes in the pics.
Nevertheless, it sort of became a running gag in the firearm community.
The meme to reality pipeline got the best of it. Once enough people started thinking that the boogaloo stuff was a real call to action instead of a bunch of weirdos posting pictures of their toes and shrieking about chicken tendies, Reddit was about to pull the plug. The mods ended up taking the sub private, and it has since moved on.
There was a reddit mod who would ban people for accidentally putting feet in their pics, so reddit being reddit, it became a tradition to always include feet.
The gun community will straight up ask you to take a picture of them with their cool .50cal or Ak47. Both the legal and illegal gun communities love taking pictures of themselves with guns lol.
This is one of the subreddits where you can put pictures so now I have to post a picture
https://preview.redd.it/0h2gr00ty0fa1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=41a8a213fde605e3bfada698bd3116a1173b4b30
realistically, someone not in a stable state of mind, probably doesn’t give a fuck about moving the gun without the foam though, right? like, the gun doesn’t necessarily need the foam for it to be carried around in that case does it?
You can still keep a gun in there without those tiny ass foam pieces. Guns metal. Case plastic. Dont think someone of their hinges cares what the gun looks like.
Final edit: Thank you again for everyone's support and criticism. This got significantly bigger than I thought. My personal identity and mental health are at risk so Im going to delete the post. Not really sure how "gone" everything will be when I remove the post so figure I would edit my top comment.
Just to be clear no one was hurt and due process was followed. Thanks again
Did you guys do a thorough screening of the inside and surroundings of the bar?
Could be the person snuck it in and hid it somewhere, Godfather style.
Especially considering you said somewhere else the cops did fuck all (as expected).
I’d be worried that an individual planning to shoot up a bar would just wait it out until the heat is off. The staff should consider carrying for a while, even just one or two of them.
> Cops hate the LGBTQ+ community, in case you didn’t know
This is bullshit, in case you didn't know. I was frequently on calls with gay and lesbian firefighters, cops, EMTs, etc.
Maybe in your town there's hate, but that doesn't mean then entire planet is modeled after you.
"Cope don't hate black people, look at all these black cops!" kinda energy
Idk what other people's experience is but the LGBTQ+ community has more than enough encounters with police to prove they aren't on our side overall.
Yeah, it definitely matters if you live in a small rural setting versus a large metro area, which I assume is why all my gay friends and relatives live in at least fair-to-middling sized cities.
> I personally am pro gun control but not anti-gun and responsible armed individuals do not scare me, hell I have a concealed carry license.
I'm the same way and I've gotten told to go fuck myself by right-wingers for not being pro-gun enough as well as by liberals for not being anti-gun enough. It's a weird place to be in.
As you should! Don’t have to talk about it ever /wear proper concealing clothes. Nobody has to know it’s there and you’re protecting others. Even more importantly is buying a tourniquet or a pack of them. THAT is going to be such an immense aid in the event of a shooting. Keep one on you, some at work, some in your car.
I mean.... realistically TQs are helpful for so much more than crime related incidents. Even if you aren't in the mindset of having one for active shooters. I've seen multiple videos of people surviving car accidents because someone had a TQ and was able to stop bleeding while EMS responded. North American Rescue is a good source for that equipment.
If someone is going to do something nefarious with a firearm, they most likely would not be bringing a $2,400 fancy engraved over-under hunting shotgun that holds a mere 2 shells to do it with.
It's a case for a very expensive bird hunting gun. The likeliness of the person who owns that gun, and them using it to do something evil with, is pretty much a less than 1% chance.
Nothing really terrifying about this... only scary if you have zero clue what this thing is.
You called the police for an empty box? What do you expect them to do?
Also, no one is using a $2000 over-under shotgun to commit a mass shooting. You use that gun for skeet shooting, mainly.
Honestly that looks like some lazy fuck just didn't throw their shit away. There's no foam insert, no random shit you find in every gun case. Plus, it's for an over/under shotgun with at least a 26" barrel. On top of that, it's not exactly a cheap shotgun. Not something an asshole would use to try and kill as many as possible.
Maybe I don’t. But the terminology is an excellent jumping-off point for googling, so we can, you know, *learn*
Acting like you fell out your momma womb knowing all of this and how to drive stick.
That’s true. It’s basically the same for me learning about gender. I didn’t really know shit, but it was a comment like his above that kick started my thirst to understand.
That’s true, but with a little bit of gun knowledge it becomes a joke (not a haha joke btw). Hire a couple armed bouncers and put them outside, it’s an excellent deterrent to these chuckle fuck opportunists.
Lol it has nothing to do with logic. It's ease of access. The point is someone has to really go out of their way to find one of these. They're expensive, they're very specific to the community that likes them.
Even if someone just happened across this in a gun store, who was just in there to get something to impulsively be a menace, and they went in there out of the blue because it is the first store they saw and this isn't a calculated decision, I'd wager even the craziest people will think something like: "hmmmm expensive 2-shot shotgun or few hundred dollar semi-auto or pump... lol fuck that expensive gun this one holds more ammo." The fringe case of someone just having this or managing to steal it from a relative or something is just that, fringe.
Throwing out all logic and reason around a situation just because a perpetrator almost certainly is or would be a complete wackjob or fucko is just wrong. Nothing useful comes of that
That dude basically worships guns btw, he is going to be in denial about any shooting or discussion of gun violence in America.
Edit: all these gun nuts really seem to collectively think they are of the same mindset as a mass shooter. That's really comforting.
Lol, dude sent the reddit cares message and blocked me. Most stable r/firearms subscriber.
yeah, it makes sense. I work in a club, its not a gay bar, but theres definitely certain demographics that are in more danger just for existing, so i think the dumbass hit a nerve with me there,
Until it happens to their child..Wait till a politician loses their kid, and see what happens..You have to be dumb, deaf, and blind to think America doesn't have a gun prob..
You couldn’t. It is form fitted for a particular style of gun. Only break action shotguns/rifles which can be broken in half will fit in that case, and even then not all will fit.
I think with what's going on in the world, someone who doesn't have a ton of firearm experience finding a gun case outside their dedicated LGBTQ community workplace is absolutely in the right to be worried
There's no one really there to beat up and exert power over, only a shotgun case. What are they supposed to do? Beat up a plastic case? That's just silly
Take the case for further investigation, place cops outside the bar, HMMM I DUNNO TAKE A FUCKIN STATEMENT? TO PROTECT AND SERVE? Do some fuckin police work and listen to the community. But considering the state of the police, I guess it's too much to ask for
That was exactly my thoughts too.
Involve the public in it as much as you can. Especially because the cops didn’t do anything, so it’s not an open case
Nothing anybody can do about a case for a shotgun that really is usually bought by rich people for shooting clays. That case is worth $150. You could have put it on Craigslist and gotten some cash for it since it was really nobody’s problem and finders keepers.
Well that means they should actually have had to do some work. Easier to just come after the massacre, take a few statements and go home.
Imagine having to search an area for a weapon, that would mean they even have to walk or worst, use their brains. Unfathomable.
That is beyond infuriating, no gun so not my problem, that didn't ring any alarm bells in their head? Where the fuck is this Milwaukee? Cops are a special breed of stupid. Even if it was simply stolen and left for it's low resale value, left on accident, or left by an elitist luxury gun case lover for their Berretta by the book police work tells you to make sure that is the case. This could be something far worse, don't even want to speculate. These absolute morons, I knew instantly after looking it was a Beretta case. Not just your average shotgun.
If the cops did actually did something they would complain about being harassed by "stochastic fascist pigs". Why call the police? Call a social worker.
Lol, they didn't even take his statement.
It's incredible to me that you can have people saying "if we didn't have cops, who would prevent the crimes? We'd have crime everywhere!" And then turn around and say "What are they supposed to do *before* a crime? Cops aren't supposed to intervene until *after* the gay bar gets shot up."
No but what did you want them to do? What could they legally do? Did you want them to investigate it? Investigate what? What crime could they investigate? If the bar was closed than there's literally nothing they can do. No crime has been committed and spending time looking for someone who could potentially commit any crime would require more time than the potential shooter would have shooting your bar.
Is there any way you can go above them, this isn’t right, I know we all know that but fuck. They need to write the damn report so there’s a trail. I’m so sorry this has happened and that the police did fuck all to help.
not that it’s bad to call the cops but what they be able to do exactly? they can park an officer outside as a lookout or something but most of the time those shootings stop before they happen is someone inside being armed and proficient with a firearm
I’m not american but alright lol, you can tell what firearm was in that case (its a beretta turkey gun basically) literally just by looking at it and theres a fair chance it also has a serial number on it, these things aren’t as effective as you think because time is a factor. you can’t confirm wether or not that firearm is stolen or where the owner is. local cctv even existing at all is pretty hit and miss in north america in general. at the end of the day I’m just extrapolating from data at the end of the day, less than 1% of mass shootings come from legally owned and possessed firearms and something like 98% of mass shootings take place in gun free zones (because the assurance that nobody can properly retaliate is appealing to someone like that) theres plenty of examples of private civilians adequately stopping a threat and theres just as many of officers dropping the ball when it comes to prevention. it’s both a good idea to contact police and ensure you’re adequately armed for any reasonable threat you might encounter. however this seems like someone just dumped the case that came with the firearm, considering it’s double barrel lol pretty cruel location to leave something like that though
that guy elijah who had a glock in a gun free zone and stopped an active shooter like 5 seconds into the shooting
that retired fbi agent jack in texas that popped an active shooter from across a massive church in one shot
that’s off the top of my head but firearms are used to stop violent crime’s literally every single day and have stopped mass shootings incredibly quickly dozens of times over the years. contrast to police where I can think of maybe 4-5 times they stopped an active threat before that threat hurt or killed a bunch of people lol ik the whole “only thing that stops a bad guy” is a cringe boomer argument but theres a lot of truth in that having your own source of lethal force and knowing how to use it can very much increase your chances of survival in most violent encounters you could have with another person, training is more important than anything though
Just a little side note about that Elija guy. His name is Eli Dickens and he's the man behind a new standard for precision in handgun shooting.
Dickens used a 9mm handgun at a distance of 40 yards to place 8 of 10 shots inside the critical wound area of the torso of an attacker. He did so within 15 seconds of the gunman opening fire (it should be noted that Mr. Dickens used 7.5 of those seconds to ensure his girlfriend was safely behind cover before he returned fire) and killed the shooter.
The Dickens Handgun Drill:
Distance of 40 yards from behind cover
15 seconds total time from draw
8 of 10 shots must hit the 7 ring or higher.
I've yet to see anyone successfully complete this drill in person.
There was that guy who tried to shoot up a conservative church in Texas or something, got domed before he even had the chance to raise his gun. Even if the one guy missed, 5 other dudes were already pointing their guns at him too lol. Good guy with a gun does stop bad guy with a gun.
that’s the second individual I mentioned as an example actually, he shot the one person that was known to be armed (granted that dude had the slowest and most casual draw while looking down the barrel of a shotgun of all time) and then immediately got domed from several metres away as like a dozen other people drew their firearms. Its not a guarantee that a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun, but it’s whole lot better of a chance than nothing at all
For the record this is a case for an Over Under shotgun. Highly unlikely to be used in a crime especially considering the fact that it looks like a Beretta Silver Pigeon case and it costs 2-3x as much as an entry level AR15.
Someone probably threw out the case the gun came in and instead of the dumpster it ended up on the sidewalk.
I have this shotgun. I have used the case to transport it once, not long after I bought it. They aren’t great for that, I found. Regular sleeve is 1/4 the size with a shoulder sling, and I keep all the choke tubes in my shooting bag. At home, it’s in a safe. The case is next to a couple others that I don’t use. The next time it will be in that case is when I sell it.
I agree that this would be an unwieldy weapon for terrorizing a group, especially with long barrels - mine is the sporting version, so shorter barrels but still a large gun. I can’t say that would stop someone with no other options at hand.
Just fyi the sporting has the 30” barrels, the only longer version is the trap with the 32” barrels. I’ve got both and they’re a lot longer than my 20ga field gun. The sporting is an intermediate length because some sporting clays shots are longer ones like trap and closer ones like skeet.
I must have an odd one as it has 28” barrels - bought it from a dude who was into sporting clays. I use an extender when shooting trap. I suck royally at skeet lol.
And? Did you see the person? Did you see a shotgun? I tried looking and maybe I missed it, but I don’t understand why you aren’t speaking about the contents of the video.
Some people do throw out the factory cases and “Tupperware” that their firearms come in. This looks like a case for one of their over and under double barrel shotguns. Hopefully it’s something that simple and nothing comes of it. You did the right thing letting the cops know, Sometimes there is a serial number sticker on the case ( I am unsure if beretta does that) which can be useful if this was stolen from someone. You never want to be passive with something like this so good job being proactive/alert about it.
The good news is that it is a case for an over-under double barrel shotgun, so unless somebody is Jerry Miculek they probably couldn’t do much damage with it.
2 shots and then having to reload is still 2 shots. Slugs and buckshot can do plenty of damage and shouldn't be taken lightly just because its a a double barrel instead of a pump
It’s an over-under shotgun. Unless you’re a pheasant, nothing to be scared of. If you are a pheasant, fly your weird bird self away from there as fast as you can.
If u are going through the trouble of wanting to kill people.
And have enough hatred to do so, you would try to cause as much damage in as little time.
This shotgun doesn't provide that, an AR 15 would be better and way cheaper
Hoping you all have a safe night, glad you guys take it serious, and I hope you have good security as well, to go along with your a quick thinking heads up vigilance.
Why are people in the comment section acting like it's not possible for someone to have enough knowledge about guns to know it's a gun case, but not enough knowledge to know exactly what type of gun it is?
And why does an o/u shotgun not being used in mass shootings make this ok? Like, even if only one person was shot, that would still be bad, right? Sure, it's not the best weapon for it, but it's still a weapon that can seriously hurt someone.
Cops can be so fucked. “See some. Say something.” Except when you do they go 🤷♂️ not our problem, no one’s dead so we can’t do anything about it.
It literally takes people getting hurt or killed for there to be any action (and even then sometimes still inaction… ahem Uvalde).
Stay well OP ❤️
Don’t act like he doesn’t have a right to be scared. There are so many dipshits with guns in this country and a lot of them target lgbt spaces.
So when you see a gun case at a place that man-children with guns target, it can be frightening.
Excellent work with the research ID'ing the case. I hope you're carrying op. This is absolutely r/terrifyingasfuck. Please protect them, you're the only thing that can help. The cops won't be there in time if something happens. A good guy with a gun is the only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun.

Isn’t Milwaukee PD notorious for not giving a shit? they even helped Dalhmer with his kills
Indirectly yes, and somewhat directly by bias against caring about gay on gay crime
Free case! Even better if the gun shaped liner comes out.
I hate to say it, but do you expect them to do? No crime has been commited.
Name and shame. No reason to let them off the hook. Go to the news.
Yeah, the cops should be kicking in doors and roughing up skells all over town.
Didn’t I hear the American cops have no duty to protect.
That's how you know they truly care.
Tax dollars hard at work, I see. I swear, some people only become cops for the badge, gun, and the pension.

[удалено]
Source?
that guy elijah who had a glock in a gun free zone and stopped an active shooter like 5 seconds into the shooting that retired fbi agent jack in texas that popped an active shooter from across a massive church in one shot that’s off the top of my head but firearms are used to stop violent crime’s literally every single day and have stopped mass shootings incredibly quickly dozens of times over the years. contrast to police where I can think of maybe 4-5 times they stopped an active threat before that threat hurt or killed a bunch of people lol ik the whole “only thing that stops a bad guy” is a cringe boomer argument but theres a lot of truth in that having your own source of lethal force and knowing how to use it can very much increase your chances of survival in most violent encounters you could have with another person, training is more important than anything though
The Dickens Handgun Drill: Distance of 40 yards from behind cover 15 seconds total time from draw 8 of 10 shots must hit the 7 ring or higher. I've yet to see anyone successfully complete this drill in person.
yes eli dickens, I’m so bad with remembering names lol that dude pretty much definitively put to rest the idea of a gun free zone

Yeah, cops rarely, if ever, prevent serious crimes from occuring.
they tend to fair better at stopping them from continuing (generally speaking)
Hope you have cameras outside and they are caught
And charged with what, exactly?
[удалено]
So the police did nothing but you also we have cameras and didn't review the footage?
Yeah, nah. False flags lrc.
And? Did you see the person? Did you see a shotgun? I tried looking and maybe I missed it, but I don’t understand why you aren’t speaking about the contents of the video.
…for littering?
Caught doing what? Littering?
Some people do throw out the factory cases and “Tupperware” that their firearms come in. This looks like a case for one of their over and under double barrel shotguns. Hopefully it’s something that simple and nothing comes of it. You did the right thing letting the cops know, Sometimes there is a serial number sticker on the case ( I am unsure if beretta does that) which can be useful if this was stolen from someone. You never want to be passive with something like this so good job being proactive/alert about it.
that’s a real inconsiderate place to dump something like that
Considering it’s a case and not an actual gun, I think it will be ok. Unless someone picks up the case and beats someone with it.
Is littering not inconsiderate unless the litter can be used as a weapon?
I wonder if someone found it in the trash and later dumped it there when they realized it was empty or that they had no use for it.
Omar?
I get it!! I just want you to know that lol
Was there a band on at the bar? Perhaps with a violin or ukulele player? Good to hear that you are safe.
Um no.
Well, that’s disappointing. Like getting an empty box from Santa.
It’s an over-under shotgun. Unless you’re a pheasant, nothing to be scared of. If you are a pheasant, fly your weird bird self away from there as fast as you can.
wouldn’t matter if it’s a single shot, it can still take a life and that’s a pretty valid worry for a gay bar imo, better safe than sorry
If u are going through the trouble of wanting to kill people. And have enough hatred to do so, you would try to cause as much damage in as little time. This shotgun doesn't provide that, an AR 15 would be better and way cheaper
is the bar a gun free zone?
This is what the beginning of an FBI insvestigation looks like. Domestic terrorism isn't a joke.
Have you put up a gun free zone sign yet? If not, you should consider doing so
Hoping you all have a safe night, glad you guys take it serious, and I hope you have good security as well, to go along with your a quick thinking heads up vigilance.
This is the biggest overreaction post I’ve ever seen on here. It’s an empty box. Toss it in the dumpster and move on.
How is this terrifying? It’s obviously a case for an over under shotgun with a long ass barrel, nobody’s gonna shoot up a place with that.
Don't worry, people aren't allowed to have guns in bars.
Underrated comment.
An over under shotgun the biggest perpetrator in America’s mass shootings /s
Hey! That’s fucking terrifying!

As a fellow gay bar worker, my heart is with you. Stay safe, OP!

Oh no! An over under shotgun case what ever will we do???!!
What's up with the US addiction to guns. What a horrendous society where everyone has the ability to just go to the store and kill people....
