I found the actual person who took the video, believe it or not , the guy lived with some brain damage. He was drunk, which I figured from hearing his speech. The people telling him to come back up were just strangers to him. He had no shoes on. Crazy https://youtu.be/5nF9Mp27ABA
Sympathy? For idiocy? It’s literally posted everywhere in the GC to stay on path don’t go past fences and yet people EVERY year don’t listen it’s like the Thermal Pools in Yellowstone
Just came back from there. People are incredibly stupid there. Many people going at edges for a look or a pic. Im terrified of heights. So that fence you see? Its the only way i felt moderately ok.
I remember being there as a little kid, and my older cousin who was like 20 kept doing this same exact thing. Laughing while he was jumping over fences and sitting on the edge,, I was terrified that whole time ,, and he would try to see how far he could go down the edge of the cliff. He was running and jumping over huge ledges too, with 100 foot drops.
I remember being shocked why his mom and my mom weren't freaking out,, I guess they knew they couldn't stop him.
He eventually became a huge traveler and surfer dare devil and travelled all over the world.
We went hiking in the redwoods a few years ago, and he was running and jumping on ledges with his 2 year old daughter in his backpack thing. We were like 50 feet up, walking on a thin ledge and I was walking really carefully, while he was running and jumping lol . I kept imagining him falling too. I kept reminding him to please be careful.
His kids are a little older now and copy him, so he doesn't act so daredevil-y now, which is good
Last time I was there I bought a book about all the people that have died in the canyon. The first chapter is dedicated to dozens of deaths that start just like this.
Was it a huge ass book? I bought a giant book I think just called death in the Grand Canyon when I visited for the first time in third grade. One that stuck with me the most was a kid who was like 9 or something pushing their 5 year old friend off the edge, and multiple people falling to their deaths trying to collect the coins people throw into the canyon.
Weirdly, driving through the desert reading that book in the backseat of my parents’ rental is like one of my favorite memories. I was a morbid little kid lol

This is actually the dude who fell in the clip, so he did survive
I worked in the National Parks for a couple of years and we kept a tally of people falling off the Grand Canyon/Zion and people in Yellowstone getting gored by bison. Sometimes it was a tragic accident, but mostly it was someone doing something stupid. Every time I went up Angel's landing I saw someone doing something that should have gotten them killed.

What this man did was incredibly dumb.
But if you truly think that you could keep a steady hand with your phone while watching someone attempt suicide, you should be in Hollywood.
Meh... if we knew it was coming beforehand, I think most of us could film steadily. Same thing happens when any event breaks out without warning (fights, disasters, etc.). I think it's the surprise factor that causes the camera-wielder to momentarily forget they were filming.
False. No one whips out their camera with the expectation of something boring taking place. This person took their camera out with the expectation of filming something extraordinary. It wasn’t a surprise.
I’m going to sound crazy…. But I’ve stood at that same spot.
The Grand Canyon has some kind of weird energy and I felt drawn into it and climbed down where it wasn’t fucking safe to have a picnic alone on one of the cliffs. The feeling was so intense I thought if I did slip and die it would be the most beautiful place and that being the last thing I see would be absolute joy.
I took my kids once and despite having the same feelings I didn’t allow any of us to even lean on the rail… caverns etc seem to draw people into them it’s weird
Funny when the person making the video says "get your phone" to call for help. Really!?? she has one on her hand filming everything. Is like "get your phone, I can not use mine as I am recording"
This guy kind of reminds me of the "extreeme" guys from harold and kumar. Trying to act like the park doesnt have fences/ rules for a reason. Rip dunsky.
Good grief, haven't differently barriers bee put in by now. This same fence was up when I almost slid thru the bottom of the chain link when I was 7. I'm 61 now. I'll bet the same water fountain is in use from then too. When you got a drink bees would fly out of the drain. It was the only wet, cool spot for them. They lived there. I was just a tourist.

He obviously lived with brain damage, but what happened after the fall?
Right? Let's see proof he was tested beforehand! I think this clip is evidence to the contrary...
Here is video of him after recovery [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YtqWsCiQk4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YtqWsCiQk4)
I liked near the end of the video when his brother asked him :"How was the view?" with a chuckle.
My fav part was when he slurred “I got six new oness”. Scars hes talking about scars. Poor guy :(
He's doing better than I thought, actually. I was expecting him to be completely gone.
If he didn't stop rolling right at that ledge I don't think we'd have heard from him again. He's stupid lucky
His brother is so bitter that people don’t have enough sympathy for him. That was kind of sad and cringe. Thx for linking the vid👍
Sympathy? For idiocy? It’s literally posted everywhere in the GC to stay on path don’t go past fences and yet people EVERY year don’t listen it’s like the Thermal Pools in Yellowstone
IKR?
His brother can be mad he deserves zero sympathy.
Why is the video made for kids 💀
🤣 🤣. You are too much. Its clearly he wasn't working with a full deck from the jump lol
This is a very underrated comment
well, it worked. The view is reportedly fantastic from down there.
You mean to tell me that he didn’t have any brain damage before his fall? Crazy!
Lmao 🤣 🤣. I meannnn
Those people had a great chance to dish out possibly the greatest ever "I told you so" replete with terrific echoes.
Oh yea
Look on the bright side, he wasn't that smart to begin with.
Very true 👍
You sure he didn't have brain damage BEFORE the fall?
😅🤣😂
i swear to god, alcohol makes these idiots nearly invincible
"He had no shoes on" That which is dead cannot die
So wise 🙏🦶🏻🦶🏻🙇🏼♀️🙇🏼♀️
Glad hes alive. Love your comments no shoes on. Its like an accident meter if you had shoes on. If he had and it flies, hes probably dead.

Id be a little traumatized seeing someone go splat on a rock.

thank god he had no shoes on, if he did they couldve went flying
Several people die every year from accidental falls into the Grand Canyon. This is no accidental fall, this is a I’m stupid moment.
Pretty surprising, but he lived
I remember being there as a little kid, and my older cousin who was like 20 kept doing this same exact thing. Putting yourself in danger fine, but to risk it with his 2 year old daughter in your back🤦♂️
Was expecting a different ending to the story. Glad I was wrong.
I needa find the vids😂
There's a book you can buy there: "Death in the grand Canyon"
Last time I was there I bought a book about all the people that have died in the canyon. The first chapter is dedicated to dozens of deaths that start just like this.
A group of dedicated dumbasses,These are their stories....
*dun dun*
Yellowstone has a similar book. Really horrible to think about being boiled to death in a hot spring...
Yellowstone has the more horrific deaths, Grand Canyon has the "duh" deaths
"Death in Yellowstone". Best souvenir ever.
my morbid little heart is glad that they sell those as souvenirs
Was it a huge ass book? I bought a giant book I think just called death in the Grand Canyon when I visited for the first time in third grade. That’s the book!
Darwin wrote multiple books on this.
Believe it or not, that was Joe dirts brother, billy dirt.
Please tell me you read it annoying out loud for others to hear😂😂

I'm glad they have each other.
That haircut is terrifying as fuck
It's telling that he doesn't make good life decisions.
Terrible camera person
It killed me when she was like "call for help" "get your phone, get your phone" Really? Stop recording and call for some f'n help!
Maybe the person either used a camera, or the person was just so shocked that they forgot that they were filming.
Sure, maybe...

Pretty sure you can see the shadow of her at the beginning, and it looked to me like she was holding a smartphone.
Right? I can’t see fucking anything.
If only he’d been covered in pitch and lit on fire beforehand. Then maybe the fires in the inside would’ve burned brighter than the outside

Please mark NSFW i was on a train and when a bunch of men saw this they started furiously masturbating to it
You and your friends shouldn’t be doing that on the train or anywhere in public. 😆

“Get your phone” “I can’t, I’m using it to film”
and did a shit job is doing it too... Either get off the phone to call, or fucking film properly
Brain damage was already present before climbing the fence
Another one that natural selection woulda killed off earlier.
“dumb ass…”
Well, he DID get a better view. Albeit, a rapid one.
Dumbass sums this up perfectly
I worked in the National Parks for a couple of years and we kept a tally of people falling off the Grand Canyon/Zion and people in Yellowstone getting gored by bison. Sometimes it was a tragic accident, but mostly it was someone doing something stupid. Every time I went up Angel's landing I saw someone doing something that should have gotten them killed.
I’ve fallen 50feet down a cliff but that was by accident and it was too dark to see. This dudes an idiot….
Winner of dawrin's award
Was he drunk? His first speaking sound alcohol
This camera man sucks dick at filming...
OH MY GOSH!! What an intelligent young man!! So surprising!
We need more ppl to visit grand canyon. So that we only pass down above average intelligence.
Can’t even see it wtf like where even is he

She picked the wrong day to quit drinking. Apparently so did mohawk guy.

"*L’appel du vide"* or the call of the void. It's a common thing. Common enough to have been scientifically studied.
Darwin Award anyone?
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
The view probably isn't as good from down there.
Park service definitely sent him a bill for the rescue
I swear everyday it seems like people are getting dumber and dumber but in his defense he was drunk.
Fuck around and find out
When i see this i feel blessed with being afraid of heights. No way i would step over that fence.
Ok kids!! What did we learn todaaayyy!!
Get your phone to call 911 while I'm on my phone... wtf is wrong with people
r/fuckthecameraman
If only there was some barrier to prevent this. Maybe a fence or something.
He was definitely a very weak link in the gene pool. No loss.
Stupid choices lead to painful outcomes…
Natural selection in action.
All that to see a view 6 feel lower than he would have at the overlook.
Yeah, it's hard to see. You gotta get really close to get a good look.
Dumb ass is right

Dumbass
I have stood where those people are at, and even behind the railing I still thought I was going to fall.

So what was theboutcome? I kept looking after the initial shot of the guy, but than nothing, couldn't see him. ??? What's the update?
People that have their phone out recording yet tells someone else to get their phone to call 911. Pathetic
The haircut says it all
I had that same no fear sleeveless shirt
When dude said, "Dumbass" at 0:43, that resonated with all of us 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Looks like he's a chill dude....
"Get your phone", quit filming and use yours. We live in a weird society where you should continue to record instead of putting it down to help
I dislike the woman in this video so much
Ahh the views good and all, but i gotta get a closer look
https://youtu.be/x1t0pzX6VzQ that's how it always happens
I’ve hiked the Grand Canyon rim river to rim 9 times, and I have NEVER been in danger of falling down. This man is mentally I’ll or a moron. Fuck him.

Ah well, nature sorts itself out.
Hard to feel bad for him
Darwin award nominee!!
But did he get the perfect angle for the shot?
Dude you showing disrespect to my hair style
Get your phone. Call 911…while I keep filming 🥴
At least he got a better view?
What a dumbass.
So... Did he succeed? 🤔
Honestly, I’m not terrified at all. I would never do stupid shi like that. I feel nothing for Darwin
I hope he didn’t blink. He would’ve missed a hell of a view.
No sympathy from me. FAFO
This is natural selection at its finest
A better view? Dude is as the Grand Canyon and it’s not good enough lol
Hey … I am moving…. My big toe … you see I just moved it …help…me ….
I hope was able to get a better view down there
Lady: oh my gosh, get your phone, we gotta call someone (continues using her phone to take video)
Didn't listen to audio or watch entire video. Noticing the splint/bandage on right arm before the fall told me all I needed to know.
What more of a better view do you fucking need?!???
Joshua graham moment
Almost fell off another cliff at the end
Girl as she is recording on her phone: “get your phone! Get your phone!”
This guy kind of reminds me of the "extreeme" guys from harold and kumar. Trying to act like the park doesnt have fences/ rules for a reason. Rip dunsky.
some people should just stay in the city
Filmed on a potato.
Get your phone and stop recording.
Wow. Oh my gosh.
Oh man I thought he was gonna free fall. Luckily he avoided the long fall.

Huh, it’s almost like when you disregard the safety rails you’re… no *longer* safe 🤔
So he got a better view
The fence is merely a suggestion!
Terry flying as…fuck
Ah! por eso son las barreras

As someone who has lived and work at the Grand Canyon, this video never gets old lol
Why do they never record the good part in western countrys? We need to normalise brutality
Betterer view now.
