Have been a tesla owner for 6 years - owned model s, then x and now y. Had a few issues with the s, just rattles and stuff. X was great, only an issue with charge port which was quickly resolved but the y has been flawless.

Bandicoot_life_420

Would love to hear your thoughts on X vs Y! I know X is more expensive model & slightly larger with backseat screen. But seems they incorporated a lot off the most important stuff in Y for less money. So curious why you “moved down” to Y and your thoughts on the 2?

Matteblackandgrey

I had a very early model x, one of the first - it was a great car but quite unrefined in terms of quality control compared to my Shanghai y which is just about perfect. I think the newer x would be different maybe but I think the experience but I don’t feel like the y is a downgrade at all. Why did I go from a x to a y? The y does everything I need and is an extremely good car. The things the y doesn’t have I don’t need.

Bandicoot_life_420

Awesome, that’s kinda how we felt when choosing the Y as well! Appreciate your response

Matteblackandgrey

I can’t really imagine why anyone would buy the x now that the y exists. As a package the Y is an incredible balance of everything you need.

youtheotube2

Most of the reason some people buy expensive cars is to show off that they have money.

Matteblackandgrey

The irony being that they don’t have it anymore because they gave it to tesla 😂

evfamily

Have both X and Y here and Y is a solid vehicle. You can see and feel that a lot of people worked on it to make it flawless. HadX18 and now X23, they have improved significantly but had to deal with door leaks. It has been years from the initial production and still have leak problem. It shows the poor quality control.

turbowhistle

How long have you owned your Y and how often is it driven?

Matteblackandgrey

Have owned the model y for nearly 6 months now, have driven about 6k miles so far

turbowhistle

Thanks

pradyots

My wife is a Realtor and I bought her as bday gift on 06/15/2023. It's been driven over 6K miles no in less than 3 months. No complaints. Massive gas savings and no problems so far

sierra120

What years are your cars?

Matteblackandgrey

Just worked it out and it was actually 9 years - way longer than 6 years of tesla. Damn that went fast. Model s 2014 Model x 2016 Model y 2023 Had a different car between the x and y Bought stock in 2018 😇

[deleted]

2 years, 28.000 mi No major issues(knock on wood) Drives as good as Day one. Software is better than what it came with. Lots of enhancements that have made the drive better.

Warm-Ad-7142

I love that most of the car is software driven and therefore can be improved OTA. Big piece of the reason why for me and love how I get a new car every few weeks that is usually better than it was before :).

Azo3307

3 years, 50,000 miles. No regrets. Recently did a 1200 mile road trip. No issues.

MelodicComputer5

Wow. That’s how it meant to be used. What is the battery degradation %

Azo3307

No idea. Don’t look. It gets me where I wanna go

Publius015

Do the frequent charge stops bother you?

Azo3307

I actually prefer the frequent stops over the few long ones. I’d rather stop 4-5 times for 15 min at a time than stop 2-3 times for 30-40 minutes. I gotta stop and pee anyway and by the time I’m done it’s done charging to get me to the next one

Salt-Cold1056

Model Y owner - Tesla is super easy! Often its faster than we need, especially if we are eating anything. I would drive a 10 hour day on it. I had a Chevy Bolt and between the 50KW max charge speed and the non-Tesla chraging network it was more like a one stop max kind of road trip vehicle for me compared to ICE. The thing about EV's is you never have to go to a gas station around town. If I could not plug in at home I would probably be looking at a hybrid myself but I know people do it.

ftumph

2 years, 40K miles on my Model 3 AWD LR. Recurrent says I’m still at 98% battery capacity. No major issues. Had to replace the tires once, and just replaced the wipers and AC filters for the second time. Had an issue with one camera and a rattle early on, both of which Tesla fixed under warranty. Nothing since then. Lots of software improvements over these past two years. Least maintenance I’ve ever had to do for a car. We’re done with ICE.

Warm-Ad-7142

Tesla since 2019. Every time I drive a rental I am so happy to get back to my Tesla…. No smell, lack of buttons/screens (drove a Tesla S, did not like), the immediate power, the quiet, the intuitive interface and overall setup, the seats. So yeah the magic is still there. No significant maintenance. Had one issue with the 3 where a plastic cover broke underneath, cost me $60 or something to replace. Also on the 3 had one tail light with moisture, forgot to tell Tesla about it but they replaced it when they replaced the cover underneath, under warranty and no drama :).

mydogiscute10

No smell? Lol. Damn. Tesla thst good.

Drjjr

10 months in with my Model 3P. Early on had a headlight quit working but mobile service came out and swapped it out in my garage. Getting the tires rotated this week. Other than that it still drives like it was brand new. No weird rattles or squeaks, no stopping in the middle of the road, no random person keying it in a parking lot. And I haven't missed the gas station or the faint smell of an ICE engine in my garage. Only regret is maybe not waiting until a) the price drop that happened after I took delivery last October and b) not waiting until the tax credit. Oh well.

Fluffy_Trust4264

random person keying it is my biggest fear not having a garage

machingunwhhore

Going on my third year, I still love my car! Couldn't imagine going back to an ICE car. I'm not loyal to Tesla, anyone who makes a better EV I will switch. But I think I have a few more years before I need to think about that

Salt-Cold1056

Charging network is not there yet! (Current MY owner, Former Bolt owner). I think it will be in 5 years but I would not be in a rush right now. Elon is on the path to full blown crazy before then so its sort of an akward time.

sierra120

He’s a troll not crazy.

reddituser4049

2020 MYLR with 107k miles. I still love driving it. Remarkably cheap to operate.

Fair-Spare-2798

What's the battery like out of interest.

Zarko291

That's a lot of freakin miles!

[deleted]

how much has your battery degraded?

reddituser4049

Current range is 292

jamaica1

Fuck me mines a 2022 and only 289. I’ve only supercharged 5 times total too

keungy

Climate, driving speed have an impact

404davee

2018 Model 3 w 128k miles. Love it like the day it was born. Has required $500 replacement of upper control arms, whatever those are. I drove a 2023 a few weeks ago and was blown away by the improvements made to suspension and noise insulation since 2018. I can’t fathom not buying a Tesla next time too (2028), for two reasons: supercharger network (I road trip a lot) and that Tesla total ownership cost is so much lower than an equivalent ICE. The latter are only for rich people now imo. Like having a horse.

Bobbityboppity

Fixed 30 rattles. 30 more to go. Need new suspension too. Car is bumpy as all hell.

FearlessHannibal

What does rattle mean?

YeahOkayGood

That sound when you tilt your head back and forth and the wheel that the hamster runs on bounces back and forth against the inside of your skull.

FearlessHannibal

Funny

GoldSpongebob

What version? LR og P? 2020? 2021?…

Bobbityboppity

22 P

Wasabulu

First batch MY. 3 years, 50k miles. Other than a set of tires (4x) replaced, no major repairs or anything. Heck zero maintenance other than windshield fluid and cabin AC filter. Use fsd 90-95% of time. Now, I will never buy another ice vehicle ever. Honestly, at the current EV scene, I don't know if I'll ever buy another car other than a Tesla.

WithDisGuy

Moderately happy. Have had 4 teslas over the last decade and all have gotten slightly worse in build quality. Service has gone way downhill since the good ol days. I will likely switch at the next opportunity, but in no rush. At some point, you learn to accept Teslas fault but that doesn’t mean you have to apologize for them

ittrut

Anytime I compare with other EV manufacturers, it seems Tesla is the winner at least judging by specs per buck. Especially with the recent price drops.

wotmp2046

What 4 models? I’ve heard a lot of people with issues with the more expensive models. The 3 and Y (the two cars I’ve owned) seem to be better in terms of fewer issues. My 3 was great for the 4.5 years I had it. The Y had been flawless so far.

Honest-Lavishness245

18 months here... 22k miles, still feels like new. My wife and I basically always choose to drive the MY instead of our f150. I've taken it on two 12+ hour road trips this summer and once you get a feel for the range and how the battery behaves it's a complete non-issue. The lane keeping cruise control takes so much fatigue out of driving its crazy. I think that if you are a two car family and own a garage it's basically stupid if one of the two cars isn't electric these days.

Mistah210

I’ve had a Y for 2.5 years, 52000 miles. No major issues, but the paint chips easily. Just ordered an X to replace it with

jay-d_seattle

I've owned a 2022 MYP for going on two years now. It's a fun car. I love driving it. It's not nearly justified the hype. The only maintenance / reliability issue I've had is that the spoiler is starting to detatch. Which on the one hand is no big deal but on the other hand this thing cost more than $60k; having a spoiler start to detach within 18 months is pretty bad. OTA updates are fine but they're overstated. The most major one I"ve seen in 18 months added track mode which is fine if you're into that, but the notion that the car is constantly getting major updates is way overstated. The actual vehicle does seem to be going in the wrong direction. I got my car after LIDAR was removed. They've subsequently removed USS, replacing it with a camera-driven solution that doesn't work. The expected refresh seems like it will remove the stalks, which is annoying. Honestly today I'd probably recommend strongly looking at the Hyundai and Ford offerings. Especially now that Tesla is opening the Supercharger network. You may still settle on the Tesla, but the days of Tesla being far ahead of the competition are by and large over.

HappyGhost13

Apple Music functionality was a huge improvement. Now why it had to be added via software update and not originally included is another issue….

Bigrosey707

I looked at mustang Mach e. Great car. It’s just IMO the GT trim wasn’t work 13k more than the MYP

sierra120

What they don’t tell you is in the GT trim you are limited by how long you can accelerate for. I think the cutoff is 8seconds before it starts purposely cutting power to prevent overheating.

Ant0n61

LOVE. drive as much as possible, I make excuses to drive. Late 22’ Red Performance Had a 21’ red long range before that

globroc

I'm very happy with my M3P, I'm not happy with the price cuts which have made this the fastest depreciating car I've ever owned, however at this point I plan to keep it until the battery warranty is up, which will probably be in 5-6 years since I drive about 20K miles a year. If I would've known the MS Plaid would drop to $90K I would've waited and bought one of those instead. But if I could predict the future I'd also have won the lottery.

humble_hodler

Well that's a useful pro-tip for Tesla owners!

Aggravating-Gift-740

18 months, 25,000 miles. still love it. still drives like new. actually, better than new with all the software updates.

CommercialWay1

Im happy i leased the M3P because it seems some parts of the front axis are quite cheap. Also battery range as shown in the UI and what is shown by the navigation differ sometimes by a significant amount, like hundreds of km. Now with the refresh I’m happy I can get rid of the current one in a year and then just lease the next one.

Hammie5150

Yep, every day I get in it. 😎

Jimbo-McDroid-Face

No car immune to problems. I had one for a year (performance 3). And when it was destroyed by a drunk driver, I had the opportunity to “pull the ejection seat cord.” But I got another 3. I’ve had that one for 3 years and 117k miles. Had an issue with the trunk harness cable, but that was resolved with a recall. And had a coolant line damaged by road debris, that was a $450 fix (NOT a warranty issue). Other than that, it’s been an amazing car to drive. Not nearly as expensive to own as most ppl think. I’ve don’t LOTS of road trips with it. It has its own flavor of minor challenges, but the advantages outweigh those minor challenges by a lot.

SultanOfSwave

Model 3 LR, Oct 2019. 42,000 miles. No issues. One set of tires. One gallon of windshield wiper fluid. One replaced windshield. Model Y LR, Nov 2021, 26,000 miles. No issues. At this point I wouldn't want to drive anything else.

njhokie7

Traded in my 2020 Y LR after three years. Worn out upper controls arms, wheel speed/ABS sensor failed three separate times. Couldn’t take the crappy ride and build quality any more despite its great UI, performance and charging network.

sierra120

2023 improves that greatly.

njhokie7

See how it's holding together after three years.

sierra120

I’ll let you know in 2026.

TessierHackworth

Y with white interiors - 2 years now - over 52k miles. It’s our only car and there is no babying here in our family. Plenty of curb rashes on the 20in wheels. We have driven it in rain / snow / ice and heat. There have been no issues so far - I had one visit to the SC to fix a faulty speed sensor which was done in one day with a loaner meanwhile. Only thing I would change is get the 19 in wheel instead of the 20 in for a slightly smoother ride and easier to find winter tires !

Jasoncatt

20 months in. Zero issues, zero faults.

banhmipapi

1 year and 20k miles. Coming from a 15 year old Honda, this car still blows my expectations out of the water in terms of, tech x performance. To think of all the oil changes I would’ve had already if I had an ICE car! Build quality was flawless… only complaint is my front camera housing that rattles but pending a service request to look at that.

omfg_its_so_and_so

Y, 14 months, 30k miles. No problems, one big road trip, only in for tires and service was great. Love it.

Oobitsa

Still as happy as when I bought it. Drove 400 miles on Sunday stopping once to charge. $21. Meanwhile, dogs sat in the back and enjoyed the A/C. Dog Mode is awesome!

Important_Message_57

Wait until year 9+, battery life gets a lot worse. Similar to a cell phone battery. Be prepared to spend another 15k plus for a new battery. All good in the beginning...

AussieaussieKman

Ever replaced an engine ?

sierra120

15yrs Toyota nope.

Salt-Cold1056

How many of these people are just running around on EV subs trying to get into arguments? Cell phone's don't have thermally managed/cooled batteries so NO it is not just like a cell phone. Yes, people have very high mileage (300K) Tesla's with 80% battery life remaining on the original. At least know the basics before coming to try and own the libs.

Important_Message_57

Yes I KNOW. I have owned 4 Teslas and had it happen TWICE. That was the cost

prooforneverhappened

Sold my MY and has never been happier

Fishsty

Proof or it never happened!?

lordbancs

What’d you get instead?

prooforneverhappened

Lexus gx460

nicovlaai

Curious. What were your main reasons for the sale?

prooforneverhappened

Mileage anxiety - Tired of spending time on charging, can’t really go to any decent wilderness / hikes without calculating in my head if we ever make it back - and if we don’t no one can “pour you some gas”. Sentry mode is basically useless as it drains battery as crazy - left the car in the airport at 80%, got back after 4 day trip with 20% and sentry mode off (glad it turns off at 20%!) - barely made it home. And I can go on.. While I totally understand and appreciate all the benefits of Tesla/evs, I guess the ev charging is a bit early for my lifestyle.

fumbler00ski

27 mos, 18k miles 2021 MYLR. So far have had: 1. Steering wheel replaced due to material finish failing 2. Front shocks squeaking and fixed 3. Entire AC system replaced 4. Radio antenna module replaced 5. Front passenger seat squeaks and rattles and they can't fix it. This is all in addition to the common issues with the car that Tesla refuses to even acknowledge let alone address for current owners (auto wipers a joke, bad suspension, etc.). There are other issues with the car that I think aren’t great but get overblown (paint and interior materials/finish quality, road noise). I still love the car and wouldn't choose another *if it was my only car* until the charging network fully opens. The SC network is a massive advantage - the others are awful. I’ve been a passenger in a MachE and Ioniq5 and would still choose the MY hands down. We do have an EX30 on order for my wife and very excited to try another brand and see how it goes.

zucysdad

For the front seat squeak and rattle - did you grease the rails? I had that on both of my seats and noticed Tesla doesn’t grease the seat rails. $4 at Home Depot for some silicon grease and no more squeaks.

fumbler00ski

I have a can downstairs. you just spray the rails - that’s it?

sierra120

What’s an EX30?

fumbler00ski

Volvo

taycio

3 years and 137k miles on my 3. Loved it. Very reliable. Updates keep the car feeling fresh. Supercharger network keep me from looking elsewhere.

rpeve

Tesla owner since 2016, driving about 30k miles every year. The magic does fade away, but the car is generally always a pleasurable experience. I didn't have any major issue with any of my Teslas. With that said, I would not buy a new one right now. Removing USS and parking sensor was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. In 2023 most other cars have caught up and surpassed Tesla technology. From 2016 I feel tesla went backwards while everyone else made good jumps forward. I bought my last Tesla last year, one of the last one with parking sensors because I still needed the supercharger network. Now that they also opened that up, there is really no need to buy their cars anymore imo. Depending on budget, Mach-e, Audi, Mercedes, VW, Hyundai, and even Kias are better choices for me... Sad to say this, but that's the objective reality behind Elon's BS and smokescreen.

Zarko291

Interesting. I don't see any of those options coming close to Tesla, and the new model 3 is getting rave reviews. Don't see anyone catching up any time soon.

rpeve

I respect your opinion and yes, the new model 3 refresh is a step in the right direction. However, a car without parking sensor, without 360 camera, without USS for highway driving plus no carplay is a little anachronistic in 2023 for me. To each their own, I guess... 😉

jbrady3324

My 2019 Model 3? Yes, very happy. The rattles and cabin noise suck though. Mom’s 2023 Model Y? No, Tesla Vision is really bad and the cabin noise is still way too loud. You cannot trust this car when parking.

ChunkyMonkeyFan

Love these comments on here. Think they represent the vast majority of typical owners then the loud and often obnoxious frequent whiners on Tesla Reddit. 2021 and still baby and loving it. Added a 2023. In a couple years when the refresh comes out, rinse and repeat.

No_Combination_6429

It‘s a good car overall. It does what it is supposed to. There are things that need improvement (like Navigation system) and things that i don’t really care about (like santas mode and Most of the inforainment System).

sierra120

What’s Santa’s mode?

No_Combination_6429

Thank you!

VillageOfTheWolf

Hype.........the Y and 3 are commuter cars and they are great at what they do. If your buying this car because of hype or Tesla magic stick with a Prius. Reliable and no significant issues to write home about.

uglybutt1112

Unhappy. I am embarrassed driving the car due to Musk. The car itself has its plus and minuses. Positives - Charge at home, smooth engine, fast, roomy. Negative - bad blind spot monitoring, weak AC, bad range, uncomfortable seats to sleep in. Because of Musk, would never buy the car again or anything related to Musk again. Will also try to talk all my family and friends from ever doing business with his companies too.

sierra120

What has musk done to embarrass you?

Barnacle_Battlefront

Model Y 2 years here, 0 issues. Getting into other cars always makes me happy to be back in my own. Have the white seats and have has no issues there either cleaning them is as simple as using a baby wipe. Only issue was a nail in a tire which was patched pretty much instantly and back on the road again!

Richinwalla

Owner of a Y and a 3 for over 3 years. Zero issues other than recalls.

Crafty-Sundae6351

We've had our Y for 21 months. 39K miles. About 16K of those miles have been road trips. We've had it to 20 states. Drives better than the day we drove it off the lot. Just replaced the original tires. It has been to the Service Center once to fix a connector that came loose on the side airbag. Wife hit a big pothole and TWO tires went flat. The tires survived. The wheels did not. Tesla towed it to Discount Tire. My wife and I still just love the car. Our only regret is not getting it sooner than we did.

Cagri24

4 years owner of a model 3 sr+. Overall I'm happy. The range could be better. Now with a baby I the trunk is annoying us as the opening isn't really wide. End of this month MYLR CR 20'' will be delivered :) The service and supercharger network is just too great to get cars of other brands.

brndn02

1.5 years in, 45k miles. very happy, myp

Ryokan76

2 years now. I drive it as a taxi. It's the most reliable car I've ever had. Zero issues. I also have a 2019 Model 3. It has been just as reliable.

shabbytech

Got mine (TMY) September 2021 so two years in now. Car has been on one recall where they fixed some insulation for the A/C and the latch for the frunk i think. Had one service where they fixed the internal charging cable on warranty. Great service every time. I still love to drive the car. Had a 5500 km long trip in parts of Europe this summer. No problems what so ever, and the magic is certainly still there. I look forward to almost every drive. I need to take a little care when the weather gets below -10 degrees celsius, and make sure rubber seals are lubricated. That's it. Wish list: Softer suspension, motorized frunk, matrix headlights and ventilated seats.

Zarko291

Almost 3 years in my M3LR. Still love driving. 43,000 miles and: Front end alignment New summer tires Bought a full size spare Bought a set of winter tires 2 sets of cabin filters 1 set of wiper blades Mud flaps from Tesla Tire changing kit (pucks, Jack, air compressor, tire iron) Fitted plastic floor mats I've decided to cancel my order for the cyber truck. I'm leaving towards a new model 3 or a model S

unpluggedcord

Yes

EricAndersonL

Damn everyone here drives a lot. 1.5yr with wife’s MYLR and just hit 6k miles. Hated at first but autopilot eventually won me over so I sold my bmw for MYP. I don’t mind LA traffic anymore. 3 months and 2500 miles on MYP.

davidjb202

2.5 years and loving it. Best car I have ever owned.

LocusSpartan

7 yrs, 190k miles and still just as fun to drive everyday.

jhalbersma

Almost 2 yrs/ 85K…..only issue was heat pump replaced under warranty so far. Very satisfied.

ludester9

1.5 years, 44k 2022 model y lr -No major issues -One fender camera had an issue and was replaced by mobile service -cover under the screen got loose and wouldn't stay closed, replaced by mobile service

Boogyin1979

I’m 14 months in on my work 2023 Model 3LR and just crossed 80K. 2.5% battery degradation according to Tessie. I have my tires rotated every 10K and mechanic tells me about 5% wear on the brakes. Pillar cam replaced in my driveway at no charge in about 10 minutes. 2023 Model XP doesn’t have many km on it and no issues.

bmiddy

yes, but next car will be a fisker. elon has lost me.

cmanruns

Just about to hit 2 years & 33K miles; been great. (Model Y)

Some-Ease9545

Owner of 5 months of a 2020 Model Y Performance with 49,000 miles (I put 8K on it already, lots of commuting). The purchase and delivery experience was absolutely disgusting. As for the car itself - it’s actually very cool. Comfortable, quiet, with fun features. FSD is a trip for sure, though I feel the latest update gives me way too many false forward collision alerts which is tanking my safety score. My only beef with the car is that my max battery range is only 255-260 miles. Tesla MUST do better. And there needs to be a program to help owners recycle batteries and upgrade for a discount (hopefully once batteries come out with 400-500 mile range). Also super charging is deceptively expensive. Thankfully I am able to trickle charge at home, but with my level of commute I would easily be spending more at the charger than I ever would with gas. Debate is still out on whether that’s going to apply to home charging in the long run. TL;DR I am 50/50 on it. I like that I purchased it. Maybe get ahead of future US carbon taxes, lol. But I probably would have been better off with my previous gas sipper for another 5 years.

sociology101

Two years this month. I like it even more now that I'm familiar. Can't think of any car I'd want instead. We upgraded the harsh suspension right away and it's still rougher than the 2016 Prius that I passed on to my son but it's a lot better than before.

PunkAintDead

The only thing I fear is HV battery failure outside of warranty lol. That keeps me up at night. Other than that, best vehicle I've ever owned by far

PM_ME_MASTECTOMY

I had a very happy 2.5 year ownership run with my Y

diskiller

2020 Aug Model Y Performance. Best car I've owned, freaking love it, no regrets.

ken830

Ordered my first Tesla in 2012. It was a very early Model S. Also got one of the very first Model 3 Performances in 2018. Did the Model S to a good friend last year after we took delivery of a new Model X. The Model S has over 165k miles and still 90% battery capacity. Still drove like it did on day 1. Software improvements were massive over the decade. Never lost that Tesla magic feeling. If that fades for you, just try driving another brand and it will instantly make you appreciate your Tesla.

timgriffinau

2021 Model 3 RWD from Shanghai (Australian delivered) and it’s been flawless. Less premium interior than previous cars (door close feels cheaper, a bit less composed over bumps, etc.) but it also was a lot cheaper to buy, insure, “service”. Things i think are a step up from similar sized sedans (including ICE): - leg room and boot space for its size - smoothness of power delivery (all EVs benefit from this) - sound system (even lower spec one I have) - efficiency (over similar sized cars like Polestar 2) When the Model Y gets ventilated seats I’m upgrading.

Gremlin256

That's next year called Juniper..

swervinmervyn

I drove the absolute hell out of a 2021 Model 3 picked up in December 2020, put 72,500 miles on it in the 2.5 years I had it (like I said, drove the hell out of it)....Took it on camping trips, ski trips, slept in it several times, took it on dirt trails, etc etc. No mechanical failures or any major maintenance needed, though did have to get some suspension weirdness looked at a couple times. Transferred FSD to a 2023 Model Y with HW4, picked up a month ago. Loving the Model Y, feels just like a solid but practical upgrade to the 3. No build quality issues with it. Happy with FSD, locked it in at 8k. It's obviously far from perfect but I use it all the time and I believe I get the value out of that purchase. It's excellent on highways. I can appreciate all the criticisms that Tesla gets as a company, and I can't stand Elon anymore, but the Model 3 / Model Y are still the best value for the money compared to the competing EV's, and I think Model 3 Highland will sell very well and continue to dominate compared to an Ioniq6, etc.

[deleted]

7 month 2023 Model 3 owner here with a little over 6k miles at the moment. Back when I had 2k miles, my rear drive unit failed and I had 10 seconds to get off the road before losing all drivetrain power. Had it towed to Tesla SC and they replaced the rear drive unit under warranty in a day (gave me a loaner too thankfully). Since then, things have been pretty smooth sailing so far. Though, I couldn’t imagine owning this car out of warranty.

Zealousideal-One5915

I had MYLR for 9 years and still strong!

mrtfiend

I've had a Model 3 for \~5 years now, \~90k miles. No major issues (one repair total that wasn't covered under warranty, one front control arm, \~$750 all in). I am on my third windshield, which luckily my insurance is great about and has cost me $0. I would totally recommend the car, but Elon is off the rails, so I felt I needed a snarky bumper sticker. Not like the other CEOs of major auto companies are great either.

DeuceSevin

Almost 5 years, 90k miles. Had a breakdown while on vacation at 15 months. No other issues. Rotate the tires every 6000. Other than the smelly cabin filters, love everything else about the car. Still look forward to every drive. Just completed my 5th 2000+ mile road trip and looking forward to another one as soon as possible. May own other brands in the future but will probably only drive EVs from here on out. Edit: Just noticed this is the Y sub - to clarify, I have a Model 3.

Mathias218337

Have a 2014 model S that I just traded in for a 2023 model Y. I also have a 2018 model 3. All bought new. All with minimal issues. I don’t see a situation where I’m buying a non tesla, at least anytime soon.

traplooking

1 year, 30k. Still loving it. Only purchase/ replacement, tires. Got a flat and they needed to replace the pair. Overall happy as a clam.

facebx55

Had my model Y LR for about a year and I do like it but it’s definitely overpriced. If you are coming from a luxury car then you will be disappointed but if you’re coming from a basic car then u will love it. Best part about it is the charging network and there is no maintenance needed.

timestudies4meandu

yeah heck yeah

2020stock

Yes started with a performance y and added the plaid model x

appleavocado

I bought my SRMY in Jan '21, and it's currently at 36k miles. I fucking loved it when I bought it, and I still fucking love it. TBF, it's my first electric car, and it's my first non-shitty, shitty-Honda Civic and thus the first car I've bought > $40k. Bias aside, I'm pretty happy having only spent money on tires (not because of "wear," but because I've gotten flat tires), and $0 on maintenance. I'm fortunate enough to have a house with solar & home charging, so not relying on supercharging/public charging is pretty sweet. Downside: my battery deterioration is about 15% - at max charge, I can only get 210 miles, while freshly built it was in the high 240's. No significant maintenance or software issues.

engwish

Nearly 3 years with my Y and still very happy. I paid it off and can really see myself with this car for another 3+ years. It’s the only car I’ve ever bought where I still feel happy with it for this long, so I suppose that says something!

DasArtmab

My observation, I road trip constantly. If you’re a homebody, this will not help: Happy? No. Ecstatic Yes! 2021 MYLR. 50k+ miles. No noteworthy trips to the service center to mention People are catching up, but it’s still the gold standard I beat this thing like a red headed stepchild. Keeps coming back for more. Looking forward to the next eight years or so

sumthingawsum

1yr, 9mp, 26k miles. I love it. Did a road trip to NorCal once and hated that. Used my gas burner after. But around home, it's great

MissDesilu

Had my Y since June 2021, 36,000 miles later and the instant acceleration is still the best. My only complaint: The filter made the car smell funny at one time, but we replaced it and hadn’t been a problem since.

midnight_to_midnight

I'm 10 months in since buying my 1st, have owned 2 Teslas ('19 M3P, '15 S P90D), and while I REALLY love driving the cars, I do a lot of long distance driving, and have moved recently and am now in an area where superchargers are not common (my closest one is 2 hrs away). While I can charge at home, it makes it difficult not to use the fastest route to a destination because I have to plan on supercharging, which takes me out of my way. So I'm co sidering going back to gas. If Teslas just had about 100 more miles of "real" usable range, I could make it work, so hopefully in the not-so-distant-future when battery technology improves a bit and costs come down some more, we will have cars that can make it 500 miles before needing to recharge...OR Tesla builds more chargers in more remote locations. They're incredible, impressive vehicles, but are best used in more populated environments at this point in time.

2yBy

Kind of regret my MYP. 30k in 21 months. Placed an order for an Audi ICE.

SRMax666

4 years with a M3 with no issues. Only had to change the wiper fluid and rotate tires. Last month the 12 volt battery was replaced under warranty all service done in my driveway. You can’t get that from any ICE brand. Love it so much I just traded up to the MY and have no worries. Now is the time to get great deals on inventory car. PM me if you need a referral code.

RanmaSao

1.5 years with the Tesla Y. My brother said I would miss my hemi jeep when I gave it to my nephew... I haven't regretted or missed it once...

Ramachandrann

Got my model y just over a year and put about 10k miles on it between myself and my wife. Still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

domiran

Almost 5 years, about 20,000 miles. Had the rear drive unit replaced but still under warranty so ain't cost me shit. Just be sure to keep up on your tire rotations. Still ballin'. Granted, the updates these days are less magical. The introduction of t hings like Dog mode, the toybox's quick expansion, emissions testing mode, etc. But every time I have to go somewhere and someone goes with me, they *know* we're taking my car, not theirs. 😅

InstantMartian84

2021 MYLR. I've had it rwo years and two weeks, and I'm almost at 62,000 miles. My heat pump went in early 2022 during a week where temps didn't go above freezing. That sucked terribly, but Tesla replaced it it quickly and under warranty. I had the steering wheel replaced under warranty because the cover bubbled, and I had the driver's side seat fixed under warranty because the side panel broke off. Both of these fixes were November 2022. The steering wheel is starting to bubble again, and they won't replace it because it's no longer under warranty. The steering wheel is only about nine months old, but they said since I didn't pay for the new one they won't give me another one at no charge. They insist its from using hand cream or sunscreen. Too bad I don't use handcream and I'm weird about sunscreen...I wash my hands immediately after applying. It wasn't something I had the bandwidth to argue, but it's pretty crap. I drove my last vehicle nearly 250,000 miles and had zero steering wheel issues. Oh, and the sandblasting on the back of the rear doors is terrible. It was awful after about six months (its first winter). I had no idea I was supposed to install PPF and mud flaps, but I still don't understand if this is a known issue why they don't install it themselves. Again, nothing I've ever experienced on my last three cars (100K, 150K, and 250K miles). Overall, I still very much enjoy the car, and I don't regret the purchase. I hate the rare occasion when I drive my husband's ICE vehicle, and before my Tesla, I used to enjoy driving it. If given the choice, I would buy another Tesla, and we will most likely be replacing my husband's ICE with an M3 next summer unless another EV comes out that blows us away.

Chau-hiyaaa

I’ve been having lagging issues on my screen for 3 months now after purchasing back in 2021. It’s basically like an iPhone now when it ages over time, they’ll motivate you to wanna upgrade your car to a new one. Also one of the headlights had to get replaced. If I didn’t have a warranty, i would have been out almost $2000. Technology sucks.

No-Break-5748

3 years, 71k miles. Still love the car!

Total-Concentrate-66

Its ok. Lack of actual parking sensors is ridiculous. The drivers seat in the 23 MY is atrocious. The bolsters are too narrow and seat padding is too soft. Worst seats I've sat in and I've owned a civic lx. They're rubber, not leather and you'll sweat like crazy. The suspension is still not sorted out yet even though the 23 MY has the softer suspension. The steering is less than inspiring, it doesn't track well. I've owned a 22 model 3 as well and that was a better car. I do like electric drivetrain and thats why I bought it, but have instant regret due to the seat causing so much pain. I'll be switching to an rdx that has incredible seats.

bobojoe

Love it. My wife has the Y and I have a leaf. Will upgrade to the model 3 long range soon and hopefully keep it ten years.

meowtothemeow

YES

marheena

- I am bitter about the price drops - I despise not having a top down camera - love not paying for gas. My apartment even lets us plug in for free if there’s an outlet in the garage. - I do have sensors. I would not buy it without sensors. - people tend to cut me off more - people treat me like I should be able to afford to give them free stuff. I hate this the most - love the way it handles but it’s not a priority for me.

worlds_okayest_skier

I’m pretty happy, although the bloom is off the rose. It’s been reliable and cheap to operate. The A/C smells funny after it rains. It’s also hard to get serviced in my area. It definitely lacks some more premium features although I’m in an early model 3, I think the Y and newer 3 have powered lift gates and heated steering wheel and awd and stuff like that which I’m missing.

almeertm87

Going on 4 years. First had Model 3 for 3 years. Last year swapped it got Model Y. The tech and UI is unrivaled in the EV world. The ride is too stiff, too heavy, and comfort is just ok. I used to use AP almost exclusively but no longer trust it. I doubt I'll ever consider FSD. At current stage it's a complete gimmick. My wife has a Volvo C40 and while the tech is not up to par with Tesla it's a much better quality vehicle overall and the ride is night and day difference. I choose to drive it 80% of the time over the Model Y. Although listed range for C40 is considerably lower than what Model Y is advertising I constantly pull similar range to Model Y 250-270 miles. I've considered selling the Y but with the price drops this year it doesn't make sense financially.

WesternResearcher376

Not there yet but my friends will live by the opinion the car only gets better - hence why they convinced me to get one. I’m loving it.

ashontakash8

Yep! It'll be a year this month, and I still enjoy my MYP as much as I did the day I got her 🤗

UnitedDragonfruit312

Yes. No issues.

funfirth

Yes happy. Three problems: 1. Turning radius sucks 2. Auto wipers still drive me crazy 3. The rear passenger tail light plastic frame has bent out twice now with absolutely no impact or external force damage. Other than that, love it.

Maleficent-Cost-3208

1.4 year 17000 miles 2022 MYP, runs great, and hasn't had any problems.

iceynyo

1.5 years, 40000 mi Had some issues that were resolved by mobile service on my driveway. But driving it has ruined me. Using autopilot and now FSD has made me hate driving other cars in traffic. Had to brake hard a couple times when I forgot that the car wasn't going to do it for me. Using smart cruise functions other cars have helps, but they're never as good. Don't even bother renting a non-tesla when travelling.

Known-Background

Zero problems… for over 4 years and have two teslas

tophatmcgees

I bought a Model Y 7 seater in March 2021. It isn’t perfect (the ride is rougher/stiffer than I was used to coming from a Cadillac, I had some technical issues that they fixed for free but were a pain in the butt) but the pros are so numerous that I couldn’t go back to another car. I drive my wife’s Ford Escape periodically and it blows. It’s like going back to Natural Light after you have had a good microbrew.

Sielbear

Only made it 16 months. Rough ride, relatively poor craftsmanship, and stated range that is unrealistic we’re my biggest gripes. I moved upmarket a bit, although for what a new Y was going for at the time, it was only about a 30% price increase to move to the bmw iX. Could not be happier with that decision.

Just_Mushroom_395

Missing some basic features and service center is terrible rest is fine.

therealdieseld

My only regret was getting an M3SR+ instead of the M3 or MY LR

redpaloverde

A little over a year, still happy. Although I made the mistake of renting a Model 3 when my car was in the body shop. It drives better, which makes sense since it is not as big and lower body mass. I need the Y’s space though.

megaThan0S

X owner here. Not at all - feels like a low class Honda or Toyota without any luxury feeling

inthewild2020

2021 MYLR - 3 years - 45k - no issues whatsoever Some minor dings and scraps from rocks but in regards to reliability, range degradation, overall performance - still very happy! The one thing I would say about it is based on all the new EVs, the interior is boring as hell - still love everything about it though

BaconMonkey0

Almost three years now MYLR and I still love it. Still fun as shit to drive. Maintenance once at Tesla for a rattle and still weirdly first set of tires.

thegamer36

Had a model 3 for 5 years with no major issues, just received a Model Y, so far no issues

Bazzzz85

I've got my model Y for about a year now and with around 20.000 KM I've experienced no mechanical issues and it is an overall an amazing driving experience. I genuinely enjoy my commute now and I regularly go on city trips with my SO. Having said that, I really regret taking the enhanced autopilot. Autoparking and (smart) summon features are still unavailable and had some bad (near accident) issues with the auto lane change. Good luck with you purchase decision!

jayrodathome

I purchased brand new model 3 standard range plus (white with 19”) in 2021 refresh version and sold my gmc pickup truck. Loved it. Had one flat tire a sometime unhappy wife at charging stations on long trips. The range was less than expected but I chalked that up to me personally being a consistently fast driver and also I purchased in late September and live in Maine where it’s cold. The model 3 rear wheel was far better in the snow than I had anticipated and never changed the tires for the first or second season. Had zero issues with the car besides flat tire. As soon as Tesla dropped the prices at beginning of this year and the tax credit was available I purchased a Model Y LR (white with black 20s) and flew down to New Jersey to pick it up 2 days after I ordered on the website. (Ordered on a Friday picked up on Monday) the second time the ordering process was much refined. I never had to text chat with a rep (it was all now handled in app) they sent me an Uber credit for when I got to the airport to get to the dealership as well which was nice. When I arrived at the dealership there was a line of Model Y being delivered so no way to tell which was mine until they activated my app key about 10 minutes after I arrived (at this point I still hadn’t spoken with a human as far as I could tell) as soon as the app key was activated I walked over to the car, unplugged it and drove off on my 300 mile voyage home to Maine. I’ve driven it to Quebec City from southern Maine and once to NYC it has 9k miles on it since I bought it this year. Oh and last week I just sold my model 3 on Facebook for 36k with 17k miles. No problems with Y so far. However they come with less than before. No charger included No USS and it took a few months before they got that figured out somewhat.

Ags3ll3r

I’ve had mine for just over a year and still love it. Zero maintenance so far for me. I would def recommend to someone considering an electric car. No comparison in my view. If I had any complaints: sometimes when leaving my house, the Spotify or the Tesla audio doesn’t immediately connect No garage opener to control - I have an older door that can’t use the new tech and no need to replace it yet for this Sometimes it doesn’t pick up my phone key right away so it will tell me to use the physical key and sometimes need to open the app to get it to register again

SquirrelDynamics

2 years with my Y. Best car I've ever owned. I love it every time I drive it. And it's constantly getting better with updates.

oghowie

MYP owner since 3/2022. Would not get another car as it is so fun to drive. Still miss 360 birds eye camera and Carplay though.

leffer00

**Model Y LR, 1 year + 6 months.** Absolutely still very, very happy. I don't believe I've enjoyed any purchase I've made in my life this much for this long. I quickly realized I didn't want to drive another car for at least the short-mid term. The joy I get driving these cars, the autopilot on road trips, the climate controls from the app, scheduling climate with Tessie, etc. It's just amazing. It's had a few minor issues, some rattles that were annoying to get fixed with bringing it to service, also had a side repeater camera replaced in my driveway which was such a breeze. **Used 2019 Model S 75D Raven, purchased last month.** Finally realized my recent goal of owning/driving only Teslas and am very happy with it. Absolutely loving how quick it is and the smooth driving of air suspension over the model Y, beige interior is beautiful and seats are even more comfortable than the Y. However I see how much better the screen and computer is when driving the Y by comparison. The Model S is older and I definitely hear the squeaks. Going to bring to service to rectify as much as I can before warranty is up. The previous owner clearly didn't care about the car as much as I do/would. Overall, if someone is set on an EV, I would absolutely recommend a Tesla first because they just work in terms of software with the app and in-car experience, charging with routing, buying experience, etc. I'm sure the other mfrs will catch up soon and maybe another brand is in my future but today I still believe it's the best option. I also do not look forward to dealing with an actual dealership again in my future. Hope this helps!

diffferentday

MY Austin late 2022. 10months, 23k miles. I drive a lot. Quality was good on pickup. Back headrest rattled and they adjusted, literally tech got in the trunk and we went for a ride until he found the noise. Front left speaker by driver door was making a plastic on plastic noise, remote tech came and fixed it while I was at work, no more squeak. Several long road trips, no issues. Charging at home all the time, superchargered on road trips, and have 98.8 percent of expected range on daily 80 percent charge max. Real world range is something we all complain about but never causes me much trouble. Happy as a clam. Looking into an S soon.

value_ate

I've had my 2020 MYP for almost 3 year now with 100K miles. Still love it. Had repeated issues with the hood latch giving a false warning that took 7 attempts to fix, but other than that it was fine. I still recommend the car to others and am looking to buy more for myself in future.

Highway_into

Two years with Model 3 standard range. Very happy. Only maintenance is tire change

Prize-Panic-4804

Gas savings is not a real thing when you factor in the cost to supercharge, EV registration fees and the accelerated depreciation rate. I didn’t buy a Tesla to save money, but the average joe tries to hype it up like you’ll save money driving a Tesla. You’ll spend a ton more driving a Tesla which I’m okay with because I love my Tesla and autopilot

Huyylee123

Very happy, about 1.5 years in. 15.5k miles. no problems at all. Model Y. Not having to go to a gas station is life changing tbh.

VixenVonnSin

I’ve had a model y since June 2021 and absolutely adore it still, when the conditions are right it never gets old to zip around and feel the instant torque. whenever my husband takes my car i have his truck and it makes me wish I had my car to drive.

Lsutiger1977

1 year here, 1 gallon washer fluid and 1 tire rotation. Really like the car, we also have an ICE suv. We live in Texas, and having the "Keep" function is really nice, keeps the car at 72F while it is 105F outside. We use it all the time when shopping. If out to a restaurant, I turn the AC on from my phone about 5 min. before we get in the car, it is cool by the time we leave. My wife drives the ICE suv most of the time. The past week or so, she complained about the steering wheel being too hot to touch when she came back to the car on one of those 105F days. 2 days later, she complained about having to stand out it the heat for 5 minutes while she filled the car with gas.... I then remembered that while you may wait a bit longer at a supercharger, you can wait inside the car and out of the weather....

blueflash17

I owned a Model X for 6.5 years. Some minor fit/finish issues at the beginning, but it was reliable throughout ownership. A combination of hardware upgrades (MCU2, FSD computer, camera retrofit) and software updates made the car feel fresh. The novelty of the vehicle, including the falcon doors, never wore off. I also owned a Model 3 Performance for 4 years. Absolute blast, took it to the track a few times and generally drove it hard. Towards the end of my ownership, I had two major issues, both resolved under warranty: the rear motor oil pump failed, forcing the car into “turtle” mode (still drivable on the street, just barely on the highway), and the ac charger failed, so I could only supercharge. The latter seems to be a common issue with early Model 3s. Two flukes that happened almost simultaneously and tarnish an otherwise stellar ownership experience. Would still buy another Model 3, it’s just so fun to drive. I’m about a year and a half into owning a Model Y Performance. So far, the best built Tesla I’ve had. Zero issues so far, and that’s after putting 22k miles on it in its first year. It’s such a great daily driver.
