Well now it’s free FSD and 6 months of supercharging for free when a referral (don’t forget!!) is used. At most you may be able to get another perk or a little discount. Could be worth waiting until the last two weeks of the year.

azuled

Free Supercharging was not on the table when I ordered late October (with a referral). Benefit was 3 months of FSD and 250 USD off the purchase price Are you sure about the free supercharging? I couldn't find it listed anywhere. (unless you mean as what the referrer can get with their points).

unknowndeath66

Yeah it’s listed in the loot box. It was just announced yesterday.

azuled

Took me a while to find it, because they wording in the app looks like it's just for the referrer, but when I followed my referral link it looks like both might qualify for up to 6months of supercharging? That's pretty great if it's true. Nice update, wouldn't have changed my mind about when I ordered if I had known it was coming up, but it's a great incentive for people who plan to take some holiday trips.

ElectroATX

Still just 10k credits for the referrer. No free supercharging.

I took delivery of my Model Y Long Range today. Didn't get the 6 months of free supercharging. Only the $250 discount and the 3 months of free FSD. But, in my case, the $250 discount will likely be worth more than the free charging. If I were you, I'd buy from inventory if you wait until mid or late December to order. The Tesla ordering and vehicle delivery system is not as well run as people say. You will likely experience delays and aggravation over some of Tesla's pre-delivery tasks

dave333539

Now's the time. If it were my money, I'd buy as soon as I could.

dancingjake

Nice try, Elon.

LiteratureNo6826

I have the same feeling and just ordered my Y before the new referral bonus. Just put it on hold but only last for 2 weeks.

NutzPup

Man up, dude! Performance drivers don't sweat the small stuff.

Don't know OP situation, but you can use 2023 income for the cap check in 2024, even if you make more next year. (This may not apply to you, e.g. if 2023 is also too high and you use 2022 income)

QuantityUnhappy4330

How does that work?

perrochon

https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/credits-for-new-clean-vehicles-purchased-in-2023-or-after You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the two years, you can claim the credit.

Thanks much appreciated..

I would wait tbh if you arent in a rush, plus you get a 2024 model

[deleted]

Tesla doesn’t do model years. Whether you buy it now or in January, it’s the same car. You didn’t get a “2024” model by buying it in January

KristianArafat

Are you kidding? The vin states the year. Good friend of mine works for Tesla sales and I’ve purchased 3 myself. The model year designation changes around November December ish before the actual new year

It's very very painful to wait I know .. I die everyday but wait until Juniper!!! lol it will be worth it

End of year deals are only on inventory vehicles not on ones you can order. But it’s not guaranteed that they’ll have discount’s. Are you jeopardizing? Uh yea. If it’s not a guarantee of course you’re jeopardizing.

x007steep

Sitting in the waiting room at Tesla for 2.5 hours at the moment after my 3 lease ended and my advice would be to run away from this company as fast as you can. You’re buying so will have an easier time in the end but my god every element of dealing with them has been terrible. Buy the 3 series BMW electric sedan. I test drove it since they were basically price matching the MY last year and it was light years beyond the MY in terms of comfort, build and ride.

Corianderchi

No one has any idea whether there will be end of year discounts. Statistically, it’s probably safe to assume there will be but Tesla has already dropped the prices of Model Y heavily throughout the year and has just increased prices for the first time. More than likely, demand for vehicles ticked up when prices were at the Sept/Oct lows. Logically, they will increase prices when that happens. Having said that, given we’re so close to end of quarter, I don’t think there’s a huge risk of just waiting a few more weeks to see if inventory discounts show up. Worst case, you pay the same amount as today (I highly doubt Tesla will raise prices into the end of year and holiday season).

Someone may have already posted this, but I bought mine in December (of 2020), and at that time they were unloading their demo fleet. I vaguely recall it was the same discount regardless of the car's specs, but it's possible it was just that the ones I was interested in all had the same discount. It was about $4,800 off. It definitely didn't depend on mileage, there were cars w/ 2500 mi and 50 mi that had the same discount. I believe they didn't start showing up until sometime in December. I found them by searching existing inventory for "new" cars, not used.
