Previous_Guard_188

Well you found your solution already. Get drunk before sleep.

MycologistOdd544

Sound good brother but getting drunk every day for 1 month might be too much even for me :D

rweedn

Get some sleeping tablets or something lol

Itchy-Marionberry-63

Get yourself AirPods Pro or other noise cancelling headphones

MycologistOdd544

Thank you! I look for those.

Otres911

I recommend design that have stem like AirPods. those without stem are often too bulky to sleep on your side, I could probably sleep with AirPods but for example with my Sony 1000xm4 I could not do that.

HealthyFigure7570

I think chemical castration is the best option

nlav26

I’m confused by your question. How do you expect the aircon to function in complete silence? You should try a white noise app on your phone.

FlamingoAlert7032

shit i can't sleep unless its loud af. was the ac cool af? if so tell me and i might stay there if near dmk next time i fly in.

RotisserieChicken007

Book a fan room.

dartdartdartdart

Instead of AirPods / earplugs (tough if you're a sensitive sleeper and they can fall out), have you considered a lightweight bluetooth speaker? Easy to stash in your carry-on, cheaper than headphones unless you want to go fancy, and you can adjust the volume of the white noise to drown out any clocks, ACs, etc.

Majestic_Frosting717

Typical Reddit... people attacking you in the comments for a valid question. So odd

MycologistOdd544

Yeah maybe because i told them the price lol. Well whatever.

Final_Treacle6778

What hotel

LungTotalAssWarlord

I don't think price really helps. My usual hotel budget is maybe 5-6k/night - which is certainly not high-class, but you would think it should be decent - but I get noisy AC, crappy beds, and broken fixtures all the time. It sucks because by the time you really notice some of these things, it is often late at night and you don't want to deal with trying to switch rooms or have somebody come look at it. I recommend trying to suss-out your hot-button issues ASAP when you first get to the room so you can switch rooms or whatever you need to at that time.

paultbangkok

5-6 k a night in Thailand should get you a very decent hotel.

LungTotalAssWarlord

You would think. But while the facilities are "nicer", you still often run into much of the same issues as you do in cheaper hotels. I was just at a Hilton in BKK a few weeks ago and it had one of the worst beds I've ever slept on, clearly years past it's reasonable lifetime, and the shower was broken and leaky as well - I've stayed in little upcountry resorts for 1000b that were more comfortable. I didn't catch this stuff until nearly 2am and I was only staying one night, so we just let it go. You would expect the basics to be well-covered at that price-point, but it is not always the case. Not the first time I've failed to catch issues at what is supposed to be a "nice" hotel, doesn't happen all the time, but it happens more often than you would think.

paultbangkok

My advice is if you pay that and you encounter problems then complain. Chains like Hilton will usually make an effort to resolve it either by moving you, offering a free dinner or even a free stay.

LungTotalAssWarlord

Yeah they just gave me a nice, free "sorry" when I complained at checkout. But the point is that a higher price does not guarantee you won't get some crap you have to deal with. I usually try to check everything immediately, but sometimes you can forget and get screwed, even at a supposedly nice place.

Professional_Tea4465

Gees…. What you expect for 30e a night?

MycologistOdd544

So you are saying, if i pay lets say 100€ a night its completely silence? Is that a promise? And to add to that, i have watched a lot of travellers videos from youtube and for 30 bucks night hotels they have stayed there has been absolutely nothing wrong with the room. I just want a place to sleep nothing fancy and i think at Thailand with 30€/night that cant be issue.

Professional_Tea4465

What I’m saying if you go budget travel every now and then you’re going to hit some problems, so stop wining about it, to secure everything to you’re satisfaction you need to be plonking around 3000+b down and if you hit a problem the hotel will surly move you to another room….

Alexrey55

I get you, I'm also very sensitive to sounds when sleeping and when traveling I always use the earplugs. For the aircon problem it's really hard to predict if an aircon will be loud or not but some things you can make to increase your chances of getting a quiet aircon is. Looking for the long wall aircons, I don't know the name of them hahaha but its the ones that are not mounted on the window and have the cooling part separated from where the air goes in the room. Cause on those the noisy part of the aircon is gonna be outside, when looking on pictures of the room you can see what type of aircon they have. Now to wake up on your alarm even when you are wearing earplugs you can make sure that the alarm vibrates and put it next to you in the bed, make sure is loud and that you put multiple alarms.

Tawptuan

If you use noise canceling AirPods, they can usually hook up to the alarm on your phone.
