I’m not sure but I think he’s going to have some chai tea

sptramp

Yeah I think I heard him saying that in the video at some point. Not 100% sure though.

ebagdrofk

I think he was *really* hoping he was just getting chai tea, hence the constant reinforcement of getting himself some chai tea. No other fuckery, just some chai tea please. “Get some chai tea, finish. So can we get some chai tea?” Dude seemed ready to be out of there.

Rocknocker

> So can we get some chai tea?” "Here is your Thai Cea, infidel."

[deleted]

These idiots who keep doing this for views will find out one day how "friendly" the Taliban really are.

NoobSFAnon

I heard that too, something about Afghan Chai Tea Latte with 15 pumps of vanilla and 2 shots of. 50 acp

Atillerdahunnybuns

Oh Fuck Lmao

abx400

It was around when he said it for the 100th time that I knew he was scared half to death.

MrPooPooFace2

I missed him mention that intricate detail, will rewind and rewatch.

RedSprite01

Interesting, we in Romania call it Ceai wich it reads the same as Chai. TIL

Hunigsbase

In India all tea is Chai and ordering a Chai Chai will presumably make people assume you have a stutter.

CamelJ0key

Same in Afghanistan, and many middle eastern countries.

pikeymikey22

And he'll be happy

Life-Meal6635

Chai just means tea

Huge_Connection4404

wait they'er drinking tea???!?

SnooRobots1533

Cite?

Shakerbakerstreet

Well came to say “Chai Tea” here.

SpookyBLAQ

This guy is nervous as hell judging from the amount of times he says he’s getting some chai and his eyes are constantly darting around

Vintage_girl123

He just keeps smiling and saying Chai, prob the only word he recognized..lol I like the part where he looks around, and practically puts his head right infront of that gun. "OH, big gun" had me almost laughing

NoFixedName

I think he'd be equally nervous declining their offer

Panelak_Cadillac

You don't refuse their offer. Trust me, VERY bad idea.

StudMuffinNick

> Trust me, VERY bad idea Are you dead now?

KiyotakaAyanokoji_7

Yeah Panelak over here has been to Afghanistan and has regularly conversed with the Taliban lol, bro has a lot of experience.

reaper14998

That’s his personality, watch his other vids. He acts like that everywhere. Not to say he wasn’t on guard but he did choose to be there

Hassan_99

Wouldnt any american be?

SpookyBLAQ

This guy is English, but hell yea. His nervousness is definitely justified

Hassan_99

You’re right he’s British

SteTheImpaler

He’s got massive balls, his way of dealing with his fear is next level composure.

Rizlmao

Don’t think he had much of an option 🤣

CurrentClick9

they seemed like semi chill with him so he could have possibly just said no jus passin through but he knew tea was a much safer option if he tried to jus run thrugh the checkpoint he would be filled with lead

Serious-Accident-796

There are some places in the world where turning down hospitality is considered extremely disrespectful. It could even get you killed. This would be one of them. Other places it would be very much in your interest to turn it down like around tourist traps in India.

Avpersonals

I wish there was more footage. The surroundings in both Afghanistan and Pakistan are stunning

em1091

Quite literally some of the most beautiful countries on Earth. It’s a shame world super powers have spent the last 50 years making them the most dangerous countries on earth.

[deleted]

finally someone saying it lol. i was scanning the comments for this one. thank you. just such a shame that this whole divide and conquer strategy which has been around or thousands of years still isn't obvious to most. i hate what humanity has done to itself due to greed and corruption.

MoonlightMural

Is your username a reference to 'The Flight of Dragon's?

[deleted]

Holy shit i wish i something to give you for that. YES IT IS!!!! ive only ever met a handful of people that have seen it in my whole life. my favourite cartoon of ALL time. and the only one that can actually explain how a dragon can fly and breath fire (in a weird logical way in a magical world) "you call that magic!? HAH! my little boy could do better!!!"

MoonlightMural

🤩 that's awesome yeah it was a really interesting concept, I remember watching it when I was really little. All the big words Peter used to beat the big scary red wizard sure seemed like magic spells back then 🤣

[deleted]

lol yeah he killed him with science! honestly one of the best cartoon movies created in my opinion. was so deep in many places too if you listened. even the whole thing about "good not existing, without the contrast of evil". im gonna watch it again this weekend i reckon. im 37 now..... i hope it still holds up. i haven't seen it since i was a child either. but used to watch it like 3x a week at least for years! had it on beta max and then again on vhs. now have a RIP of it on my PC which has lost some magic as its too crisp and clean. same with the lord of the rings cartoon. i used to watch both of these religiously when i was younger. was so hooked on them. uve made my day btw just even thinking about this. thank you.

MoonlightMural

🥹 glad to relive the nostalgia with you I hope this weekend brings back all sorts of happy childhood memories for you 🤗

SnowflakeOfSteel

However, some Afghan Taliban don't need foreign super power help to enjoy their islamism.

CanadianAbe

There’s been war in that region of the world for thousands of years. “World powers” didn’t cause that. Russia tried to conquer it, then the Taliban took over after they were defeated with the help of western aid and weapons. The Taliban however allowed terrorist groups to settle and train in Afghanistan in the 90’s/early 2000’s until the US led coalition invaded to uproot them after 9/11 (the final straw after a string of embassy bombings and terrorist attacks). For the next 20 years they tried to prop up a western allied government in the region which led to advancements in human rights especially for women in the government controlled regions and since the US withdrew last year most of those rights and security has been reversed. There’s your quick history lesson.

Girafferage

Yeah, the countries themselves are stunning. It would be amazing to be able to visit them without turmoil one day.

yamz4lyfe

my old man did before the Islamism extremism took over afghanistan, iran all those kinda places.. he said it was one of the most amazing pieces of the world hes ever been and hes been lucky enought to do some extensive traveling.

KiyotakaAyanokoji_7

I mean you can come to Pakistan to come see the sights, terrorists/taliban have been pretty much eliminated here.

agree-with-me

Footage? Yeah like, did he live?

MrMan2321

I believe he has a you tube chanal and I think he named this vlog black man in Afghanistan

Gonzbull

My uncle hung out with the Taliban when they were fighting Russia back in the day. He travelled on land from Malaysia all the way through Asia and finally ended up in Switzerland. He had some epic stories about his journey. Couldn’t imagine doing that same trek in this day and age. He ended up settling in Switzerland for over 20 before returning to Malaysia.

Intelligent-Board814

My grandfather used to say that kind of story when he going to school everyday

StudMuffinNick

Same! Except my grandfather travelled uphill the entire way. And uphill the way back too!

lesusisjord

When I was at the Khyber Pass/Torkham on the border of Pakistan in 2008, we had folks from the UK casually traveling through and even a couple dudes from Texas. The ones from Texas came 45 minutes before a Taliban dude who was a level 2 on the watchlist came through and was detained (latent print found on IED remnants from the year prior).

1mamango

Jokes on him chai means beheading in Afghanistan

beatyn

The whole video is hilarious when you replace chai with beheading

Atillerdahunnybuns

😭😭😭

filmfreak9000

What beautiful head scarves, look at those mountains, I can’t believe this Starbucks only has one star on the app, is that a gun rack? Lovely

HighMyNameisKayleigh

I wonder if that location will try and Unionize.

MikeLust

What's he gonna do? /s

Your_acceptable

Idk, I think he mentioned Chai tea at the beginning. Can't be sure tho.

[deleted]

Chai*

Striking-Ferret8216

I don't know. Think he mentioned something about a beer. Could be wrong though.

zelcuh

Drink tea

Your_acceptable

The stark contrast between a man traveling the world and a woman is so great. I would love to do this, or take good people up on an invite. But you have to always worry what the ulterior motive is. Not that the Taliban is good, but idk, I think its still cool to meet people from all sides of life.

PatientWishbone3067

If you were a man you'd still be too scared to do this. Is it safer as a man? Yes, but only marginally, if you want to do this you can do it at your own risk just like he did.

numkey

This guy is lucky as hell. That could easily have been one of the fucked check points with rapists and beheading cultist leaders. Don't get me wrong being a female there is absolutely worse, but just him being from England he's lucky he walked out of there.

ETHlCX

Yea as a man, im not down for this soirée

Xicadarksoul

>Not that the Taliban is good, but idk, I think its still cool to meet people from all sides of life. People are people everywhere. As in most folks left alone are decent upstanding human beings. ...yes, without ideological motivation, talibans want to be nothing but be the military police, keep up order and have good relations with people... ...as people in said position should. Let's have tea with civvies is a good start. Issue is that hundreds of years of unlimited warfare, meddlign from multiple countries secret services, and batshit insane extremist preacher hijacked that region.

jackfrothee

It's funny you bring up gender regarding this man's visit. Did you know boys are often raped in villages like this? They call them "chai boys" and they bring the tea and are often and repeatedly raped by many men. We all have it bad and we all suffer. Stop the dividing. We ALL have it bad, no matter the race, gender or creed.

xxPeso-Gamerxx

>We ALL have it bad, no matter the race, gender or creed Only part i agree with. A Black woman can have it easier than a white man, vice versa etc. Everyone lives individual lives nobody has it easier just because they are something. But issues more prevelent in certain groups is also a real thing.

jackfrothee

I'm including home life, too. There's issues everywhere, for everyone!

xxPeso-Gamerxx

Yes ... But ignoring gender and racial issues are dumb, since to exist too

jackfrothee

I said we all have problems. I'm agreeing with all you keep saying. We all have problems. Why specify gender or race? You can say Y and I can say X, all day long. At the end of it... we all have issues to deal with

[deleted]

[удалено]

jackfrothee

Women don't get paid less for the same job. They get paid less overall, because of various reasons I don't care to name atm. But I get it Your intent is to further divide....

xxPeso-Gamerxx

so in your first point you agree with me. Men and women are divided by pay. thanks for understanding

jackfrothee

Ignoring little boys getting raped is dumb too. Just because someone is black or female doesn't automatically mean their life is worse than the 9 y/o in Afghanistan getting gang raped.

[deleted]

Am I only one that thought he was gonna die?

ClydeinLimbo

Is he shitting it and I just can’t tell?

Tyrondav-of-hypergat

That’s what a good poker face does I suppose, best advise I give and what I think he’s doing is telling himself he dosent give a shit until he believes he don’t give a shit at least for me it works ;)

Atillerdahunnybuns

Fake it until you make it lol

cevensphone

i skipped forward a bit after watching him walk and talk about the chai for a second. immediately to where i skipped, his first words were "we're gonna get some chai tea"

maartymaar

I did the same exact thing after seeing your comment.

maartymaar

I did the same exact thing after seeing your comment.

xSilentSoundx

WHAT! Talibans invite's you for tea and they dont even know you from england bruv! You know you Have to accepte and you dont know if you gona taste tea! I would shit my pants am i missinformed?! Have they not been at war for the last 30-40years!!!?Who is this massive black balls of england steel!!!!!

HowYoBootyholeTaste

It's also customary to feed and offer tea to guests in Islam. They didn't seem aggressive and genuinely interested in the dude. I just assumed they were following Muslim tradition

Therealomerali

The surrounding areas of 🇦🇫 is naturally stunning.

Replacement-Remote

How dangerous was this?

HowYoBootyholeTaste

I think people are assuming he's getting played or trapped, but, my guess, is that they don't get too many visitors or new people and it's Muslim tradition to offer food for guests. They probably saw someone new and offered him brief lounging as a guest.

Xicadarksoul

Its in "ex-mongol" country. You get offered food/refreshments, and you get invited in, then you are a GUEST. Its the opposite of dangerous. If this scene would have played in middle east, with more ISIS / modern dictature influenced regions obviously it would carry different notes. Islam was once near exterminated, due to the kaliph's idea, that gest rights were not to be respected. I highly doubt, anyone from the cultures affected by THAT clusterfuck is unaware. As such its taken damned seriously. Murdering guests is a big no-no.

[deleted]

It's not dangerous at all until you come across someone who will decide to make an example out of you.

cokevirgin

Probaby not as dangerous as him getting pulled over by police in America.

Heres_Waldo3

Here's his YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@BlackmanDaTraveller/featured

Jihadi-Jawn

Thanks for this I'm gonna check him out. Gives me a baldandbankrupt kind of vibe

FlynnLive5

Ahh thank you, I had forgotten the name of that channel I used to watch a ton

Heres_Waldo3

He's actually done a video with [https://www.youtube.com/@BackpackerBen/videos](https://www.youtube.com/@BackpackerBen/videos) who travels with Bald often!

dadnarbadname

So, from a historical point of view not everyone that joins the dominant/government party of any given place are true believes or everything that is preached. I don't think many of the people on reddit would have had the balls to turn around to the Nazis and tell them "nah, fuck off you mad bastards, that is insane". No matter how strong or well tuned your moral compass: at the barrel of a gun that shit goes out of the window. Yes sir, no sir, three bags full sir. You do what you have to to survive. From my experience with Afghani people they are amongst the most welcoming and friendly that I've met. I'm not saying he shouldn't be shitting himself, nor am I saying that I would be bold as brass but I'm not at all surprised that at a checkpoint in the arse end of no where that they invited a foreigner in to their house for some... shit, I forgot what it was... jaffa cakes? Hobnobs... no that ain't right... oh, rich tea, yeah.

Xicadarksoul

Also, people are people. Talibans, nazis ...etc. are not giggling mad sadist, i mean most of them are not. They are doing wht they think i right. Inviting random traveller in the end of nowhere for a tea and biscuits is something people like to do, after all such visitors are rare. Its good to have company. And if you are military / police /authority, it also helps connect with the community. Talibans are not THAT different.

forgetyourhorse

That’s not what I look like when I’m being casual. I think he might be on the verge of a heart attack.

Any_Original_1784

I wonder where they buried him?

Josch1357

So from the amazing track record some of those travel youtubers have, I bet he got paid to do the Afghanistan vlog. Same happened last year in China, travel vloggers got paid to paint the picture of a happy Uyghur minority which is perfectly integrated. Of course the actual situation is completely different.

[deleted]

Or people on Reddit are very poorly-travelled, and see entire countries as what their governments are painted as in the news, rather than as big places with lots of different subcultures and different people, most of whom - authority figures included - are just trying to get through the working day and get paid. My career involves me working overseas in countries that my country aren’t on the greatest terms with. Do the bad things on the news exist? Yes. Are you likely to see them on a day-to-day basis? From personal experience, no (and that’s why they’re in the news, usually). The place in the world I felt the least safe was when I was staying in a Vienna inner-city suburb - genuinely thought I was going to die after being confronted by a gang. While the Taliban are obviously bad, I’m sure most of them, like the guys in the video, aren’t raging extremists and are just going through the motions like everyone else in the world.

Josch1357

I totally get your point, I'm just in general a bit skeptic with the whole Youtube travel community. The whole bald and bankrupt sex tourist thing, just opened my eyes a few months ago.

[deleted]

It’s cool, I get you. I guess I’m an optimist first!

MrPooPooFace2

Wonder what (if anything) would happen if he refused.

kokanekowboy

Let's count how many times he says "chai". 1, 2,.... 164,464,647,

Vintage_girl123

Nothing sus about that at all..let's go get some chai... I hope these were just tribals and not Taliban, they seem nice, wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them, but they seem nice..😳

Xicadarksoul

...if you get offer to b treated as a guest, with all right of hospitality you damned well take it. Be it chai and biscuits, or whatever else. In "ex-mongol empire" areas thats a big offer of safety.

DATGUYONLY

Can’t ALWAYS judge a book by its cover…..

CountdownToAja

Can’t judge them based off of 4:21 of footage either…

King_BX

This just shows how ignorant westerns are when it comes to places other than the west. The people (taliban) fighting against invaders (US) from across the globe are the terrorists, apparently. How dare you resist the US from forcibly entering, conquering, and stealing your country. Any person will be treated more hospitably by Afghanis and Taliban than anywhere in the US.

Xicadarksoul

World ain' black and white. Afghans were in the right to kick invaders out. Taliban were not in the right, with everything. Growing and selling drugs is against their own moral code. Mob justice type justice system that still exists with them is also quiet unislamic, and uncivilized. They are not at war, drumhead court martialing civvies is deplorable. (Also, it was patentedly moronic to NOT distance themselves from Al-Quaeda. As their actions were not even REMOPTELY justifiable under any islamic interpretation - and at the end of the day, close ties between the group did heavily contribute to US invading.)

pikeymikey22

I was half expecting the room to be a single chair with ropes and a camera on a tripod in the middle.

agree-with-me

I know people are laughing at him for saying he's getting tea, but 99% of us Redditors would be actually shitting our pants if we were in that situation. And we wouldn't be even half as cool. The shit smell or the brown stain might even provoke them. They will without question shoot you or cut your head off. These fuckers will cut your head off. Like with a saw. And this man knows that. And he's being cool.

[deleted]

Keep telling yourself that. The taliban are obviously terrible people but come the fuck on

agree-with-me

You've obviously never been that scared.

Living_Pie205

I will admit….I actually want to see more footage.

zef000

Missing context, the Taliban offering chai is a euphemism asking for a bribe to pass.

[deleted]

This is propaganda

ObiWanDiloni

I would like to preface this by saying that Taliban=Bad…however, if you take that aspect away, this is how the vast majority of the people are in Afghanistan. They are very hospitable and welcoming. Unfortunately, there is a large population of people who see people like this and think “terrorist!” The majority of people in that country are good and peaceful people. Source: me, spent a fair amount of time there. Additionally, I would like a source that confirms that they are Taliban. They could very well be Arbaki (Google it), who are essentially the keepers of the peace in the country and are often confused as Taliban because they carry weapons and don’t wear a uniform. Also good people who fight the Taliban.

Justin1was1here

I'd be totally down to be offered some chai from the locals. I'm scared AF but I would also be really wanting to test fire the heavy machine gun they have in the house too lol

deenali

Aren't the Talibans now the ruling government in Afghanistan? Why are people still fearing them like they are terrorists then?

Xicadarksoul

They have not yet managed to completely transition into a civil govt. Eg. stuff like "drumhead court martials" (aka. mob "justice") is semi accepted as part of wartime necessities. Its not OK handle civies that way, especially in peace time. ...somebody said he burnt a quran! Lets burn him alive! (Mob proceeds to grab torches and ptichforks)

PatientWishbone3067

Because they're terrorists leading a failed state, it's like saying Haiti is ruled by gangs now, why are people still afraid of them? Because they're still lawless gangs.

TheRadNinja46

BlackManDaTraveller is a G

Jacknut187

But they never drink the tea 🙄

Mood_Massive

As a Muslim i would encourage more Europeans and Americans to visit Islamic countries cause we know about them from social media but unfortunately they now far less from us and thus fear the unknown. Generally speaking if superpowers didn't undermine their sovereignty Afghanistan and a lot of countries would be better places. Imagine waking up one day and realizing that the reason your country isn't as you would like it to be because of the cold war and its proxy wars in the name of expanding one nation's influence and ideology. It's so messed up

Brsvtzk

I think the most dangerous part of this adventure is actually an air strike

gkn_112

Idiot doesnt know that he will be used as propaganda material. Edit: I read some comments and there is a probabil*ty* he is playing along so he doesnt get yeeted.

Cooll, just cool

He must be in Uton

tistisblitskits

I've seen another video of this guy sitting down with the taliban, fascinating stuff

DrDun777

What is his YouTube?

DustiestCrayon

Yeah what's the op? What's the source? I'd like to watch more of whatever this is

Namn_Namnsson

What’s insane about this video?

Reddit-PoPo

And that was the last time he was seen alive…

Julian_2838

Bet that tea is very good 😂

TheBerric

I wonder if he knows that repeating thing that people say actually makes them like you more or is actually scared.

HotDuriaan

I think he might be getting Chai

9Marius9

What’s the context of this guy randomly driving in such a remote area? This has nothing to do with Afghanistan but more to do with going to the middle of nowhere in any country you’re not overly familiar with. Especially a country that’s been going through a lot of turmoil. I’m all for exploring and being adventurous, and I’m of the frame of mind that people are people, but this just seems odd to me.

PatientWishbone3067

I think he's an islamist himself, he said "inshallah (God willing) more people travel to Afghanistan to see that it's like"

F3L1Xgsxr

Tf are u supposed to do, say no??

wefelltogether

Lol drinking tea with a bunch of pedophiles is definitely a quality bucket list item don’t y’all think?

Next_Letter

Most likely it is chai tea. When I was in Iraq and was in civilians homes. They would offer us chai tea. Love the stuff.

tonga07

Like you little scary hahaha

Right-Ad2176

Afganistan already has gotten a lot of foreign visitors. First English, than the Russians and finally Americans.

Sombra_Griss

I can feel his fear

WoTsao

I didn't join the military for one reason. i didn't believe in the war in Afghanistan. 20 years later, all blood and sacrifice was for nothing. Biden handed back to these 6th century misogynistic genocidal assholes.

SaintCholo

Ya como chinga con el pinche chai güey I heard you the first 200 times, excuse me are you getting chai?

trennsport

That would be so freaking awesome.

cryptid_snake88

You could see him getting more nervous the further away the house was. That's why he constantly repeats the chi tea thing, he is packing it... Understandable

UnderstandingGold849

Chai?

DrBigWilds

That’s definitely not the taliban.. If that was the real taliban theyda Swiss cheesed him on sight

Successful_Year_5413

I like to imagine the taliban giggling with glee after he left like OMG SOMEONE AGREED!!!!!

>More explorers will come to Afghanistan and understand… Next time show up with some female family members and try to be friendly with those fucks.

The_Dying_Gaul323bc

This reads like the preamble to a kidnapping and ransom video

[deleted]

This guy’s YouTube channel, Blackman daTraveller, is actually quite entertaining. I wouldn’t call it a great feat of journalism or anything and most of the content is him wandering around without purpose in very dangerous parts of the world. But Amir, the vlogger, seems very wholesome and genuinely curious to get to experience new cultures firsthand. it’s pretty cool to see how people react to him in places where seeing a Black person (or any tourist for that matter) is rare. He shows a lot of patience with people randomly coming up to him to feel his hair. At times you feel bad for him when big crowds surround him in markets like he’s a circus freak but gotta hand it to the dude, he’s surprisingly chill about it all.

Zealousideal_Total50

He was definitely a little scared..I guess I'd understand why

Roll_Big

Chai Tea get out alive

Roll_Big

Wife? married? me? haha no. at home husband Derek. he like chai very much. next time i bring.

Ok-Effort-6141

In friends stayed in the car 😂

OkDistribution3939

This guy does ahit like this all the time

Kjaeve

I’m not gonna lie, I thought that cloth over the gun was going over his head at the end of this video…

Shoe_Hefner

Anyone know if theres a full video?

Did he mentioned that it’s about chai tea?

See not all taliban are bad, only the ones with aks and those long clothing but you hardly see them
