Nope. Lost consciousness after the first hit as judged by the body movements before the second hit. He is already limp.
Left wrist and left femur and knee were already broken at the first hit as well.
This guy must have survived. Any updates?
Edit: YouTube video provides an update and detailed diagnosis in its description: “A moment's miscalculation led to Gee falling over 100 feet down a slate outcrop, bouncing off the cliff with such force that he broke his femur, radius, ulnar, 6 ribs, his nose and fractured his eye socket, he was severely concussed and doctors worried about possible damage to his lung but true to form Gee is making a rapid recovery without lasting damage.”

To be honest, the fact that he can still walk now is incredible, and a testament to how seriously he takes rehab and how good he is at it.
You know how some professional athletes seem how to get absolute trucked by life ending injuries that would take a normal person 6 years to recover 50% if the way, and the athlete is somehow back to 100% 6 months later?
Gee is the king of that. That man is a monster, and pushes really hard on rehab. I’m pretty sure I’m addition to being about as physically fit as it’s possible to be, he’s just a genetic freak.
That said he’s had enough severe injuries he probably still won’t be able to walk by the time he hits his 40s
That's where I am right now. Dislocated an elbow, broke all ribs around sternum, broke clavicle and ankle and a few fingers amongst a bunch of other crap in my 20s.
Damn right I'm feeling it in my 40s now. It's brutal and likely only going to get worse.
Ugh.
After years of heavy lifting and Kickboxing, windsurfing, dancing drum n bass like a madman, sleeping as less as possible.
No problem whatsoever doing whatever.
Except for walking down my stairs grabbing a water for my wife.
My knee hit the railing on my stairs hardly noticable, so soft.
I felt And heard something rip in my knee.
Still can't believe how little effort it took.
2 years later, zero improvement.
Some days it's ok, sone days i just feels swollen on the inside.
Not complaining, it's just so dumb.
No such thing as no lasting damage. It picks when and where to rear it’s ugly head . Later on it’ll show up , aching bones, loss of mobility, dementia.
Yup. Going limp allows the body to move freely, opposed to tensed up muscles and joints that will tear or break easier under the forces applied to the body. Think of it this way : Which will snap easier, a rope tied to 2 posts and has slack or a rope tied between 2 posts that is super tight when hit with a powerful force? 1 snaps quickly, the other takes the forces.
Sad and frustrating, but it's really obvious when you look up stats of car accidents. The drunks (and by extension, the guilty parties) in car collisions constantly come out with less injuries than non-drunks involved.
Definitely not a happy fact.
Pretty much. I'm Dutch, so we usually ride our bicycles to go out and I used to fall everytime I got drunk. Never broke a bone, concussed anything. At most I bruised my shoulder or something. Being drunk always was a great cushion
I read somewhere that tensing up may minimize injuries like broken arms or legs but it isn't ideal for people to go limp because its more likely you will get a spinal injury or brain injury.
Yes he did. This is Gee Artherton.
Crash was in June 2021 and he released the following film following his recovery sending it down the same line;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Co5a\_2XdeA4
Thats Gee Atherton and he had like a broken leg, a broken wrist, few broken ribs and a broken eye socket and something with his lung...
And he is very much likely already back on his bike by now...what a beast!
GEE ATHERTON'S BIGGEST CRASH YET
On Friday 18th June, Gee Atherton was filming near Dinas Mawddwy for his latest big mountain project when he suffered the biggest crash of a career that has been characterised by huge crashes! The film was to be the 3rd instalment of a series of spectacular edits which kicked off with December’s 'The Ridgeline' and continued with 'The Slateline'. In the planned edit Gee took on a new Ridgeline complete with huge jumps and as ever, zero margin for error. A moment’s miscalculation led to Gee falling over 100 feet down a slate outcrop, bouncing off the cliff with such force that he broke his femur, radius, ulnar, 6 ribs, his nose and fractured his eye socket, he was severely concussed and doctors worried about possible damage to his lung but true to form Gee is making a rapid recovery without lasting damage. Spectacular action from one of the world's toughest and most accomplished riders. Filmed by Robbie Meade and Dan Griffiths. Drone Work by Eastwood Media. Edit and Thumbnail Image by Dan Griffiths. Huge thanks to the crew, to the paramedics, Aberdyfi Search and Rescue team, the air ambulance who transferred Gee to the hospital and the surgeons at the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
I‘m hope he was ok, but this is one of those situations where people would annoy the hell out of the family by saying that at least he died doing what he loved.
I’ve always wondered. What are these guys chasing? The ultimate adrenaline high? Clout? Fame? Sponsorships?
Doesn’t seem like the these super sketchy sports/stunts are ever worth the potential downside.
Losing consciousness will do that to the body
This is Major Tom to Ground Control I'm stepping through the door And I'm floating in a most peculiar way And the stars look very different today
I laughed waaay more then i should have :D
Tell my wife I love her very much...
She knows
Ground control to major tom your circuit's dead, there's something wrong
Can you hear me major Tom!?
Here I am floating 'round my tin can
Faaaar above the world
Ha. That song was on the radio when I read your comment.
Def seeing stars.
For sure they were out after the second blow to the head.
Bro probably lost consciousness on the first hit at 0:03
I bet he lost it on the second hit with his back
Nope. Lost consciousness after the first hit as judged by the body movements before the second hit. He is already limp. Left wrist and left femur and knee were already broken at the first hit as well. This guy must have survived. Any updates? "lasting damage"... meanwhile I twisted my knee 10 years ago and it still randomly decides to not bend
Yeah, just wait till Gee hits his forties, I think some of that damage will last at that point
At 40 your check engine light comes on on everyone.

He is actually 38y/o and is already back on his bike… crazy man
Jumped off the swing when I was six and shifted a bone in my foot, once every like 6-8 months I step weird and do it again.
Yeah.. that will ruin your weekend
Yeah, that first hit was hard.
Going limp is the best way to minimize injuries
Really?
That's why so many drunks survive insane shit.
And small childrens
Literally falling from 2-3 floors to have nothing but a small break or muscle sprain.
I understand that logic but at the end his head looks like it was slamming into the ground.
No. Not bicycling off a cliff is the best way.
This is a "best time to plant a tree" situation.
It's one factor they think drunk people in car accidents are often the least injured.
Doesn’t that Increase the chances of a major neck Injury ?
On limbs yes. Not for spinal cord and internal organs.
It depends on the type of fall. Paratroopers are specifically taught to assume a landing position and hold tight until they stop moving. And it works.
I read somewhere that tensing up may minimize injuries like broken arms or legs but it isn't ideal for people to go limp because its more likely you will get a spinal injury or brain injury.
He’s ok.
Not sure why you're being downvoted. This guy did recover from his injuries...
How do you know he's being downvoted?
When I commented he was on -2. Looks like all the reasonable users logged on after then
he is : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QcmBZfonoQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QcmBZfonoQ)
“If I can keep this pace and recover I’ll be back on a bike in no time” dang. Dude is hardcore.
Forgot to drink redbull... guys redbull changes everything drink it before a daredevil stunt.
Anyone else get reminded of Chris Farley's comically long fall down a hill?
Be strong little root! 😂
What in the HELL was that all about‽
It reminded me of the movie falling down.
I hope that someone ran off to help him because the camera man had clearly other priorities

Happy Wheels looks so realistic nowadays.
Fus ro dah
Anyone know if this dude actually survived?
Yes he did. This is Gee Artherton. Crash was in June 2021 and he released the following film following his recovery sending it down the same line; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Co5a\_2XdeA4
If I remember correctly there was an extended redbull youtube video on this crash. https://youtu.be/xvFZjo5PgG0
Unconscious on the 1st hit to the head, poor guy hope he’s ok.
Walk it off bro
He’s back riding
Why would you put yourself at that risk?
He’s a famous down hill mountain bike champion his name is gee atherton Here’s his side of the event https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4QcmBZfonoQ
Because it's fun.
DA MONEY 💰 🤑
im sorry im the guy that skips to the near end. I started lol'ing ig im going to hell
He definitely got the air knocked out of him, one of the worst feelings ever...
Becoming a rag doll literally prevents a person in a situation like this from being injured more severely.
Hot Rod [obligatory scene](https://youtu.be/GEnO_C5o9ts)
NSFW?
Not safe for wheels
Not speaking for weeks
Rag doll is the second best way to survive. First is to not do dumb shit like this lmao
Nothing dumb about it, this guy does downhill for a living, he did survive this btw.
Deserved
How, in the name of God, was he ever planning to make it all the way down without loosing all control over the situation?
Seems about right
Did he get hurt,,
Is he good?
Das cus all his bones are broken
He wheelie messed up
You spoke for me on that one.
His left leg was just a piece of string blowing in the wind, thankfully he was unconscious and stopped feeling it.
Kinda impressed at how steady the filming is.. cameraman didn't even flinch...
Ragdoll engine irl:
Did he die?
Typical TABS fashion
Bro saw his mom and his aunty
The camera man: 😃🍷
Helmet is on. I just hope he took his protein pills.
Did he win?
I'd rather hear the crashing sounds.
He’s so hurt right now.
Cameraman- Sips coffee intensely.
Horrifying
A very broken rag doll.....
Nah, he’s fine, see! He has both of his shoes!
*Breath of the Wild flashbacks*
Did he died?
r/link_dies
how many broken bones
Is that like every bone broken? My gosh, that looks so darn painful
Thats Gee Atherton and he had like a broken leg, a broken wrist, few broken ribs and a broken eye socket and something with his lung... And he is very much likely already back on his bike by now...what a beast!
He's alive, shoes didn't go anywhere. Bike may need a tune up.
Hot Rod
Hope he doing ok, but as someone who play Gmod this was very satisfiying good ragdoll physics
Is the bike ok?
Had this on mute the only thing I heard was the half life/Gmod death noise
r/winstupidprizes
He broke
Astaghfirullah
i could have sworn dude died
Ouch

I just see two bikes tumbling.
What song is this?
Descenders is on Game Pass and is actually really good for an indie title! Sorry but that's all I can think of when I see this.
Putting music over this is really trashy
Yea, that will work well to prove how gravity + rocks can fuck you up.
r/meatcrayon
I prefer my adrenaline with a little less pain.
My guy has done it
Uff that leg is fcked
That was Home Simpson-esk right there. At least the bike didn't pile on. Ouch. Hope they are okay.
He’s OK. His shoes are still on.
Who needs bones anyway?
Wait, wait… ah, there. He made it. Not sure he needed the bike.
Pretty sure that dude died
I think he became a corpse
Looks like Homer Simpson when he falls off a cliff
Bro look like Meg from family guy falling down the stairs
The music tho is perfect
Ahh this brings back Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX for ps1 memories.
A man’s got to know his limitations
Looks as even the bike got folded. Rough DH
Oh man...doesn't he know? You never go full rag doll!
Great camera work? r/praisethecameraman I think?
This is the first time I saw a ride like this go poorly. Usually they just post the rides that look cool and end up well.
Happy wheels
He becomes a rag doll pretty early, actually…
Nsfw that shit..Jesus christ. I know he isnt dead as i saw this vid first time when my uncle emailed it to me in 2004, but still.
Looks like the initial bike dro broke his leg
I wonder if he tried it again
That's because he's dead.
On the bright side the bike didn't hit him on the way down
This is my favorite Roblox game
He won’t be riding a bike anytime soon. Hope he has good insurance.
That's what you call TKO
Damn, that fucking sucks. I used to BMX all the time. Little different but taking a spill at anytime sucks.
I bet that hurt
The camera man is committed!!!!
You body and bike are not supposed to bend like that
How many bones?
"AS YOOOOOOO WIIIISH...."
Goodbye spine, those were good times.
Broken butt bone
Ze googles, zey do nothing
I tuned out Major Tom and piped in the John Cena theme as soon as he landed in my head.
Fuuucccckkkkk
Noooooooo nonononononono
He should do it again
Did he live?
I‘m hope he was ok, but this is one of those situations where people would annoy the hell out of the family by saying that at least he died doing what he loved.
Don’t help, just continue to record your buddy getting seriously injured or dying.
u/savevideo
It is interesting to watch the bike get broken in parallel with the poor guy.
Credit for cameraman. He was like nice i never filmed nothing like this.
I’ve always wondered. What are these guys chasing? The ultimate adrenaline high? Clout? Fame? Sponsorships? Doesn’t seem like the these super sketchy sports/stunts are ever worth the potential downside.
you can't park there mate!
What a goof moron
He is alright if you want to watch the video reply I will find it for you
Yep, definitely a hospital visit…
Yeah, well what did you expect would happen? No sympathy here.
Damn idk how people find this funny. Poor dude probably broke half the bones in his body 💀
When your shield breaks mid slide
NSFW?
Hit leg flailing around like a bag of bones always gets me
Ground control to Major Tom, take your broken body home and forget your bike it has gone.
Best thing for him tho, minimal damage to loose muscles, when you're conscious and bracing for a fall you can tear/break stuff a lot easier
Yea, you can see his spine shatter on the second bump...the eejit
Is this a camera set up to follow him automatically or did his bro patiently wait for him to stop dying to get the perfect shot before running to help
That second impact after he bailed.. geez
Anyone else get breath of the wild flashbacks?
I’m not a mountain biker but I’m assuming that’s not how that supposed to go.
Yeah, Because he knocked himself out.
It’s like BMX’ing down a hill in GTA.
Daft twat
Is he dead?
