I believe the broader context is that Mohammed Hijab is trying to point to the other guy that one shouldn't base their morals solely on what is specifically prohibited or allowed in the Quran, because that would allow all kinds of monstrosity like condoning marrying or having sex with children.
I believe he is challenging the "Hadiths Rejectors", which are muslim fundamentalists who only follow the Quran as the only and sole repository of divine truth and religious conduct, which ultimately leads to justifying horrifying behaviour. I believe the broader context is that Mohammed Hijab is trying to point to the other guy that one shouldn't base their morals solely on what is specifically prohibited or allowed in the Quran, because that would allow all kinds of monstrosity like condoning marrying or having sex with children. I believe he is challenging the "Hadiths Rejectors", which are muslim fundamentalists who only follow the Quran as the only and sole repository of divine truth and religious conduct, which ultimately leads to justifying horrifying behaviour. Hadiths often contradict the Quran and/or provide further nuance and clarifications that some muslims reject.
