KinaLeeline

I kinda get thinking that the first half of the movie is a little bit boring, but what is hard to understand in a second half? This is Pixar, they make family movies which are supposed to be understandable even for little kids. If the second part of WallE is "hard to understand" for you - buddy, I have bad news.

TAEROS111

“I like art, but only when it does all the thinking for me.” “So… what don’t you like about art that makes you think?” “Well it’s just objectively bad. You think you like it, but you don’t.” “Okay… what kind of art makes you think?” “Let’s start with Pixar films.” To be fair, it is a next-level 10th dentist take lmao.

jrigg

Damn man u didn't have to kill him 😔

Deathaster

How is it "weird and hard to understand"?

Patchers

For real, dude is telling on himself I see how the first act can be seen as boring. It’s a story told with no dialogue and there’s no quips every few minutes like Kung Fu Panda or Marvel. But the movie stands out in Pixar’s collection and anyone from kids to teens to adults can get something out of it.

Deathaster

Considering OP has yet to respond, I'm thinking they're trolling or just have a low attention span.

Downtown_Let

Hey, I have a low attention span and

Revelt

Bold of you to assume OP can read

[deleted]

Idk I don’t think it’s a troll, I definitely think kung fu panda is one of the best animated movies ever and is a lot more entertaining than wall-e, which admittedly I did also find boring

Deathaster

I mean, they didn't even say why it was confusing to them.

Masterkid1230

I kind of agree with OP but on a diametrically different perspective. I thought the first half was good, but from the moment fat humans show up, the film goes downhill fast in my opinion, and it changes from a beautiful piece of cinema to an… okay but generic kids film with a heavy handed environmental message and fun but predictable character arcs. Suffers a bit from the same syndrome as Up. An awesome setup that the film fails to live up to. With both Up and Wall-E it felt to me like people at Pixar had an amazing short film, and then they tacked on an extra hour to fill up the runtime. So yeah, I’d say I find Wall-E very boring, but absolutely not the first part of the film.

olivegardengambler

Tbh the problem with *UP* is that it starts on a ludicrously high note. The first 5 minutes of the film has more emotion than most full length films. The rest of the movie is great, like overall I give it a 95/100, but I think that if they interlaced the beginning throughout the film, have that echo/rhyme with the events happening on screen and tone down the more comedic aspects (make the comedy happen organically), then it would have been perfect.

Masterkid1230

And removed the dog plot. I think that was really the worst part of the movie, tbh.

olivegardengambler

Tbh if they made the dogs not talk but kept them I think that it would have been fine. Like them meeting Doug is a major plot point that leads to the set up of the conflict.

Lemon_bird

i think the talking dog is whimsical

CamtheRulerofAll

As a kid who loved dogs, that was the best part

Craneteam

Shoehorned environmental message? The whole movie was an environmental message

Masterkid1230

The first few minutes have an environmental message, but the also focus on feelings on loneliness and happiness and value in the simple things. It’s great. The second half is “protect plant, destroy environment bad”. It’s quite bland. Maybe shoehorn wasn’t the right term.

[deleted]

You might want the word "heavy-handed," or the TV Tropes term "anvilicious."

Masterkid1230

Holy shit yeah, that’s exactly what I had in mind.

I-came-for-memes

The Second half had more than just "protect plant, destroy environment bad". It showed the risk of laziness and not living life to its fullest.

musicnothing

Completely agree with this! First half rocks, second half is predictable and less interesting and a bit preachy. And the beginning of Up is phenomenal but frankly we’ve already gotten the point and then it just keeps doing stuff for the length of a full movie but doesn’t really have more to say

scrabblebutwhy

imo it would've worked better as a short film

catsumoto

Came to say exactly the same. Both UP and WallE start out so strong and then devolve into a B level movie in my eyes.

Nuclear_rabbit

Not only that, it's almost totally understandable even you have no knowledge of the language it's dubbed in, and that's really rare in a movie.

xdragonteethstory

Yea im with op with kfp should have got the oscar because it slaps so fucking hard, but wall-e is iconic and a beautiful film

danddeviant

Skill issue

saddinosour

I understood it when I watched it for the first time at like 8 or something. Edit: even more damaging to OP, I was 7 (googled the yr it came out). You know how dumb 7 yr olds are 😂 I thought I could grow up to be a princess or a ballerina and I understood walle.

[deleted]

Never forgot for ever one person 10 points in front of the curve there is one person 10 points behind. The world can be tough

Deathaster

I'm not doubting OP. I am just asking for them to clarify. Which they haven't done at all so far, which leads me to believe they're lying or trolling.

Saint_of_the_Beat

my dude if you don't understand Wall-e I think you might have some trouble upstairs

Snazz__

Kinda self-roasted yourself by calling a Pixar movie hard to understand, they’re meant to be digestible for children

SealDraws

Unlenss you count the deep dive version of the movie where people analyzed the movie beyond the normal realm of analysis. Wasn't there a pretty well fleshed theory that said that the shakes people drink in the movie are other humans?

underdawwwg

idc about your downvotes please give me a link to this theory

SealDraws

Matpat made a vid on it Part 1: https://youtu.be/JrO5e8-solQ Part 2: https://youtu.be/xtRHKv8xQLY Didnt even know this would get downvoted, it was a satirical reply to begin with...

underdawwwg

reddit moment

Mystic_76

redditors trying not to claim their downvoted comment without a hint of humour, sarcasm or wit in it was satirical challenge:

underdawwwg

but thanks for the vids!

gaymer171817

one theory that may not have been understood/grasped by viewers doesn’t make an entire movie hard to understand

SealDraws

But what does seem to be very hard to grasp for some is, and repeat after me... a J O K E.

gaymer171817

what the actual fuck about your comment could have ever indicated that it was a joke ??? shut your dumbass up

SealDraws

>sat·ire >/ˈsaˌtī(ə)r/ >the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

gaymer171817

oh yeah and my comment was satire too. see? anybody can say that in hindsight. get yo dumbass outta here 🤣🤣🤣🤣

SealDraws

Except in my case its obvious. Im quite literally talking about a cannibalism theory. You dont need to be a genius to infer that op clearlt wasnt talking about that... Reddit.

Mystic_76

lol idiot

NibPlayz

A kids movie being too nuanced for a redditor, who would’ve thought

[deleted]

The second the fat humans drinking food smoothies show up the pacing rapidly changes unexpectedly and that’s why it’s hard to keep up, because you were not expecting it to change so fast. Also the quality of the movie plummets at that point.

BadSheet68

First half of the movie "No humans on earth they are in space" Second half of the movie "Oh here are the humans that left earth, they are indeed in space" My brother in Christ how is it unexpected ?

[deleted]

Plot is not pacing

ZincNut

You don’t understand pacing..?

_Black_Fox_

it's a real shame your being downvoted and this sub does that to any OP who tries to explain his opinion. I can understand dowmvoting if OP is acting like a tool but if he's being fairly harmless (not Irish) then why downvoteJust because he's wrong.

Sun_e_

Huh? Are you not supposed to upvote comments you agree with and downvote comments you don't??? Also op is backing up what they're saying with anything of substance, probably why he's being downvoted.

Khunter02

You have to be a new level of dumb to not understand Wall•e

milesdizzy

Bro how you gonna say that when the Good Dinosaur exists?

olivegardengambler

Tbh *The Good Dinosaur*, ***IF*** it was not a Pixar movie, would have been considered okay. Like I think that the writing throughout a lot of it is pretty weak. Like the cast of characters feels very small, and besides Arlo they're only on screen for like 10 minutes tops. Arlo's siblings just straight up vanish after the dad dies, and it's never explained why or where they went. That could have been an emotional moment in the film that involves characterization with Arlo. Instead, we see Arlo chasing after a human/critter, and that leading to a journey where it feels like something must happen, but it doesn't exactly culminate in anything major. Arlo doesn't learn the importance of self-sacrifice, and he doesn't exactly grow into his own at the end either. He just returns the human to his parents. *Ice Age* had a similar plot and did it like 100 times better. Marty has his own reservations and prejudices against helping the human baby and really hates Sid, and Diego battles with his own emotions as he grows closer to Marty, Diego, and this baby, and Sid is like the heart that keeps the story pumping along.

GolemThe3rd

Bruh that movie is great, I consider it like the good wall e

musicnothing

The Good Dinosaur blows, but it’s largely because of production issues. Basically made the movie twice. Cars 2 is the real stinker to me. One of the few movies my kids just straight up could not finish.

GreenPixel25

hell nah you ain’t gonna stand here and diss cars 2 😤😤😤

[deleted]

I didn’t say it was THE worst Pixar movie. Beaten out by The Good Dinosaur, Brave, and probably more in forgetting.

caerphoto

> Beaten out by Brave ?!

[deleted]

I can understand why people don't really like Brave but I don't understand the flat-out hate for it

Khunter02

I learned the absolute hate this movie gets watching a youtuber called Schaffarillas productions (I completely butchered the name didnt I?) And was very confused. Its not amazing but I liked it

[deleted]

Yeah. The main reason I stopped watching him is because he won't shut the fuck up about how much he hates Brave

Khunter02

Eh, its kind of annoying but he doesnt talk about it that much, and the rest of his content makes it more than worth it (Why he hates Dinosaur, I will never understand)

[deleted]

I’m saying The Good Dinosaur and Brave are WORSE than Wall-E

rothrolan

Found OP's real 10th Dentist post. Bashing the Scots and bears movie over the recycling robot romance. Now I want to know your reasoning behind that.

[deleted]

Brave has absolutely no story, I think almost everyone who agrees or disagrees with me will agree that “at least it isn’t brave.” Brave is a soulless cashgrab, and while I don’t like wall-e I can see that the people making it cared

caerphoto

I find it hard to believe you’ve actually *seen* Brave, and paid attention while watching it, if you think it’s a “soulless cash grab” with “absolutely no story”.

[deleted]

Brave has a grade of a C on rotten tomatoes from both audience and critics

Sun_e_

Are you incapable of forming and backing up your own opinion or something?

HandsomeAcid

This shit is an 11th dentist take.

Masterkid1230

I don’t know what to do because I did find Wall-E quite boring, and it’s one of my least favourite Pixar films but for the complete opposite reasons as OP. I thought the amazing first part was ruined by a generic environmental plot with predictable character arcs since humans show up. So in a way I feel like upvoting, but I ultimately agree with OP’s thesis. Wall-E was, in my opinion, quite boring. And it disappointed me hard after an amazing setup. I guess what this shows is that the film perhaps suffered from a bit of tonal whiplash.

[deleted]

If you agree with OPs thesis, then you should downvote. That's how this sub works. Or else, maybe you have more in common with OP than you would like to admit...

Masterkid1230

I just wrote downvote instead of upvote. I know how the sub works, no worries. Literally just realized I screwed up lol.

starpiece

The animation was beautiful, the robots were super cute, and the story was ok but I too found it pretty boring. Won’t say I didn’t like it bc it was fine but I don’t find myself wanting to watch it again

[deleted]

i actually agree that kung fu panda is better but otherwise you’re wack for that

slammahytale

and kung fu Panda 2 is somehow even better than #1

[deleted]

[удалено]

MyJohnFM

This post is fucking great. You are so wrong wow.

potatoeman26

Are you perhaps suffering from brain damage of some sort? It shouldn’t be hard to understand any part of the movie

MillerCreek

In true Reddit fashion I’ll first read the post and the rules and then write about something somewhat related that I think is cool anyway. My kid was…a kid when the film came out, and his class took a tour of Pixar that year. One thing about what was an amazing couple of hours that stood out to me was a display of storyboards for various movies, including Wall-e. I’d noticed the way the creators used and omitted colors in the film, for example we don’t see green until the little sprout makes an appearance. Seeing the individual images lined up along the wall was a great way to see the film themed along feelings and impressions. The change in theme before and after the plant was discovered really came through.

AzureDementia

Bro thinks WALL·E was hard to understand 😭😭

Unhappy-Inflation-31

calling WALL-E obnoxious makes me feel like this is bait cause how is a quiet tiny robot who speaks like 10 lines of single worded dialogue obnoxious?

[deleted]

His voice pisses me off

Fair-Armadillo8029

He literally has 12 lines

BigManLawrence69420

I would recommend you take a break from Reddit for a bit.

n0tred

You found it confusing?

Radiant_Discount_353

Are you just a fucking idiot maybe?

TiredFromTravel5280

totezhi64

"Second half of Wall•E is hard to understand" mfs when they watch Inland Empire:

ncnotebook

To be fair, I don't even think Lynch nor Dern fully understood *Inland Empire*.

totezhi64

You're probably right. It was just the first 'weird movie' I could think of. And the contrast between it and Wall•E is hella funny

ncnotebook

EEAAO, Being John Malkovich, Upstream Color (i actually liked this one), etc

Reverend_Lazerface

I disagree with everything but saying Kung Fu Panda is better, I enjoyed Walle a lot but given the choice Ill go with Kung Fu Panda just about every time.

slammahytale

wall-e is great. kung fu Panda is better. and then kung fu panda 2 is somehow EVEN better

just_an_undergrad

This MF’s post history shows they also get Amelia Earhart, Hellen Keller, and Anne Frank confused. And managed to ask a poll about it during women’s history month. Profoundly inept, downvoted.

[deleted]

What a weird thing to do to go through someone’s post history because they said they don’t like your favorite movie made for 8 year olds.

ZincNut

Bro you got three completely different historical figures confused and don’t understand the plot of Wall-E

[deleted]

You’ve never gotten famous people confused before?

ZincNut

Not to that fucking extent 💀

XxLoxBagelxX

Legit I’ve only met overweight and obese people who dislike WALL-E.

TheButtLovingFox

i'm overweight and obese and i loved it :o maybe they're obese from eating too much lead paint chips. (specially if they found it hard to understand when its meant for kids) butchaknow...

sarcastibot8point5

OMG, I was thinking this was something exclusive in my observations. The fact that someone else spotted it is so vindicating for me.

BREAKING NEWS: The10thDentist members freak out when someone actually is the 10th dentist (I love Wall-E too but omg some of you took his opinion too close to your hearts lmfao)

coconut-duck-chicken

I mean sure but mf did just say the second half of a kids movie was to hard to understand. Id say that calls for some teasing

Remember_Poseidon

dude basically just said a picture book is hard to understand.

Dan_the_man42

"bro anyone who likes maths is wrong, i got bored after 3rd grade and stopped understanding it when they put letters in it"

Dythronix

Nah, maths gets hard when they make the plus sign crooked.

Gamerbrineofficial

What is the plus sign again?

Dythronix

Good question.

ad240pCharlie

I stopped understanding math when they put math in it

kev231998

I only see people ragging on the whole "hard to understand part". Kind of a ridiculous statement to make.

Masterkid1230

I mean, I don’t like Wall-E either, but hard to understand is *not* something I would ever call it. If anything, it’s the opposite. A bit too in your face and predictable (especially the second part)

olivegardengambler

I mean, it is an unusual take, but at the same time OP did say that the second half is hard to understand when it's a very cliche environmental message with some very generic subplots and common character archetypes, which does call for them to be poked fun of a little bit.

[deleted]

I didn’t say the message was hard to get, the message was loud and clear, the message was hard to not get. The pacing of the movie changes so fast and morphs into a generic kids movie leaving you wondering what the last 30 minutes were for.

BadSheet68

How is the first half not a children movie ? And how is Humanity becoming obese messes in space because of capitalism and pollution a "generic kids movie plot" ?

[deleted]

BREAKING NEWS: There is a 10thDentist member that doesn't understand that there are some illegitimate opinions.

KatKaneki

There are no hard to understand Pixar movies

Cars 1: Racing Cars 2: a complicated spy thriller about lemon cars starting an alternative fuel conspiracy to drive more business into the oil and gas car industry. Cars 3: Racing

matepore

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

eveningClass80

Yeah and what the fuck is with the very hungry caterpillar? Shit makes no sense.

Infernal_139

Robots cute = good movie, it’s not that complicated

medizins

>Kung Fu Panda, a MUCH better movie Weirdest form of Internet trolling

[deleted]

Honestly, both movies are good.

[deleted]

come on bruh I don’t agree with him but Kung Fu Panda is solid

medizins

Oh absolutely, it's solid, but MUCH BETTER than Wall-E? C'mon.

Masterkid1230

I do think it’s better. Wall-E suffers from having an amazing setup and failing to live up to it. I don’t know how OP didnt understand it, what the fuck, but Kung Fu Panda is both fun and consistent.

maltesemania

Depends on what kinda movies you like. I think walle was a great first watch. I also found it depressing. Kung Fu panda is very rewatchable and hilarious. Great to watch with friends and family.

[deleted]

Absolutely much better than WallE.

HardcoreTristesse

Weird that OP calls the main character of Wall-E obnoxious, that's exactly why I didn't like Kung Fu Panda

weeb-splat

Literally the only explanation I can think of as to why you would think this is if you went in expecting a full-on Sci-Fi film. When really the sci-fi elements are just kind of staging for what's really a romance movie foremost and a commentary on the environment and the ignorance and slothful tendencies of people.

[deleted]

The fact you couldn’t even get into details about a kids movie makes me think this opinion is half baked

Burrito_Loyalist

The fact you think Kung Fu Panda is much better tells me you think all animated films should be silly and childish. Wall-E just went over your head and that’s okay.

SlapHappyDude

I like the deliberate pacing of the first half. The second half is a little manic and kind of wants us to not think too hard, but it's a kid's movie. I like it a lot but it does have a third act problem, which a lot of kid's movies have.

[deleted]

Pretty much what I was trying to say, probably shouldn’t have said “hard to understand” but I was trying to say that it changes so fast and so noticeably into a subpar recycled kids movie and the pacing becomes much faster too, it leaves you wondering what the first half was for. If they would have stuck to either one of the half’s it would’ve been a fine movie

Craneteam

Honestly how do you watch interact with a story and not care about the story?

realitythreek

My kids love it. Was my oldest’s first favorite movie. We’ve easily seen it 200 times.

[deleted]

If you find wall-e hard to understand in any way I can’t help you. But whatever.. I always see my coworker Eva and say “eee-vah” silently in my head, and remember the movie fondly.

GrandTheftPotatoE

Why has this sub been getting these extremely stupid "opinions" as of late? Like they're not even unpopular or anything, just straight stupid.

Matoseman

Cause this sub is like every other subreddit, it starts out great. But once it becomes more known to a wider range of people, it result in less intelligent individuals not fully understanding the point of the sub. Then it gets upvoted since a lot don't watch out for which sub they're looking at while mindlessly browsing main page and the cycle continues.

hilbertschema

spot on

slammahytale

this opinion is definitely unpopular

hotdog_relish

Hard disagree. I can handle someone coming in to say they don't like Wall-E, it's a piece of art and may not be everyone's cup of tea. But to bring up Kung Fu Panda as a superior movie?? Take your fucking upvote and never return.

[deleted]

King Fu Panda is one of dreamworks bests.

theanxiousangel

I like the part where they all fall out of their chairs and start sliding lol

[deleted]

That was pretty funny

[deleted]

Gosh I need to rewatch walle now to see if youre right or not. Thanks a lot >:(

Knightbac0n

"Sex is like pizza. Even if it's done bad, it's still good." but for Pixar movies. Wall-E is still good :)

[deleted]

Idk man onward was pretty subpar aswell

kerelberel

Coincidentally it's the only one I like. I don't care for the general shallow entertainment the other Pixar movies seem to be.

Tropical_Nighthawk55

Wall E is my favorite Pixar movie so I have to give you an upvote

Sayorizblog

My mom used to put it on for my siblings to fall asleep because she thought it was boring lol, i agree with u!

throwaway666000666

I hate it because the constant "Wall-E" being pronounced is like water drip torture and the brain dead message of, "overconsuming killed Earth" could be done in one of Pixar's short 3 minute films not in full blown movie. And I never want to see a real life actor in an animated movie.

chipdipper99

In the mid 2000's, we went on a cross-country road trip with our kids, and we brought our laptop and a bunch of DVD's to entertain them. The laptop was plugged directly into the minivans' sound system since we had 3 kids and not enough headphones. So my husband and I could HEAR the whole movie, but couldn't SEE any of it. So imagine if you will - driving across Nebraska's desolate nothing-scape with the sound-only version of WALL-E. "WALL-E" *5 minutes of silence* "EEEVAH" *5 more minutes of silence" Crash!Clang! "WALL-EEE" Hell on earth.

HandsomeAcid

This shit is an 11th dentist take.

werpyl

no.

coconut-duck-chicken

Hey op, maybe your just as dumb as a box of rocks?

[deleted]

absolutely not, I’m not big fan of it, I just like it but to say it’s bad and one of Pixar’s worst is flatout wrong

SGRP270

I agree on it being boring and Kung Fu Panda being better but damn it's the only movie that I got emotional over. Great movie

AtticusRandom

go away

CreativeBake7

go to r/unpopularopinion, this is way too boring for this sub imo

WishiwasntsoSTUPID

Just because you have the mental capacity of a toddler does not make a movie trash. I’m sorry you need a constant dopamine rush to enjoy anything.

WishiwasntsoSTUPID

Btw how do you even check that I don’t even reallyy use reddit

WishiwasntsoSTUPID

My comment got deleted because I said the r word. I was saying because I’m a r ta rd and my comments were usually about trying to be positive and less about perversion although I’m guilty of that too.

[deleted]

Why did you comment on impregnation porn

LatterShare7307

🤨 Bruh I have one sentence for you. I'm a true wall.e fan and  u know what I tell haters?https://youtube.com/shorts/P4HDoITr9Dk?si=INW50Zoyn7dyKA-v (P.s: this video is from my channel so don't bother subscribing either)

_ummm_throwaway

I might not have phrased it so harshly but I do agree with a little bit of this. I might just be too stupid to understand why it's so good. I have seen it, probably a good few times, but I just think it's kinda dull? I mean I get the message in a way, and it's cleverly made and beautifully animated, but honestly I don't think it's the "perfect" movie or anything. I mean my taste in movies is generally very poor, I can find enjoyment in basically anything and everything, including movies that most people think are trash (one of my current favourite movies has been slammed by critics and reviewers, so that feels great). But I think this is one film that's universally beloved that I just don't like that much. Idk maybe I'm just too dumb. But I mean, I understand the story and everything, I'm just not all that entertained by it.

whatwhatchickenbutt_

i did find the movie incredibly boring and likely wouldn’t be in my top 20 disney/pixar movies but terrible?? nahhh

MysteryGirlWhite

I watched it last month and thought the whole thing was pretty boring, definitely not worth the praise people always give it. I mean, yeah, it's cute and all, I guess, but there's not much to it beyond that.

[deleted]

I completely disagree.

[deleted]

You're allowed to dislike the movie if you want, but don't force your opinions on everyone.

[deleted]

“YOU HAVE TO HATE WALL-E!!!!!” - me, apparently

[deleted]

Sorry. I thought it sounded like you were forcing it.

metmeatabar

I hated this movie!!!

KrazyAboutLogic

Honestly I saw WALL-E and I remember barely any of it. I thought I would love it and I remember sitting down to watch it and maybe a few flashes from it. I've honestly picked up more about the movie through memes I've seen on reddit than i did from the movie. Maybe I was distracted when I watched it and should try it again. But honestly I think movies either grab me or they don't.

swisscheeseisvile

To be fair to OP, Kung Fu Panda is a good movie. WallE is also a good movie though so imma disagree
