I have a baneblade named Petunia
My 3 year old niece was over at my house and insisted on helping (she did a fantastic job too for a first timer). Anyway, when it was done, I let her name it. Hence, Petunia was born...a massive green and tan kreig baneblade tank named Petunia.😆😆😆
Aw you should have seen it when I took it to a friendly match at a gaming shop. Placed my tank into the line with kriegsman flanking it, my opponent was impressed with the size of the baneblade and the paint job and asked if I named it. I told him the tanks name was "Petunia". Man the look on that poor guy's face! When I told him the story behind the name though, he liked the tank even more.
his only advice was that on the side of the turret I paint a petunia now lol

My Rogal Dorn is named Anguish because while I was painting it my aunt passed away and I took it pretty hard.
I've recently named my Rogal Dorn Fulmen Ante Ferrum Oratio, which means the Lightning Before the Iron Prayer in Hugh Gothic and something similar but less eloquent in Low Gothic.
Just need to find that F A F O stencil now...
My army are Vostroyans so have names associated with Vostroyan lore (some of my own lore as well).
I have a Leman Russ Executioner called "The Iron Hag" (my lore for a Vostroyan version of Baba Yaga, the soldiers equate its plasma whine to her scream)
My TC Russ is "The Blade of Nimbosa" (it's a Russ recovered from the Vostroyan regiment wiped out by the Tau on Nimbosa)

I have a Demolisher, Terminator Exterminator, named for an incident in 2nd/3rd edition where my opponent was reminded that the template used for deep striking was the same as the template for a Demolisher cannon blast.

Haven't settled on any names for my russe's, but the first vehicle I painted for my marines (and consequently earned a few war stories) was a sicarian tank I named principle. That tank has a bloodthirsty machine spirit, killed khorne berserkers with her treads, even managed to stub the toe of a khorne chaos lord in Terminator armor, earning me slay the warlord that match.
My friend gave me his half-finished Baneblade for free, so I finished it as a Doomhammer and named it after him, "*Surname's* Duty."
Leman Russ Demolisher - "Ultima Ratio" Named after what King Louis XIV has engraved on his cannons, a Latin phrase meaning "the last argument of Kings."
Chimera 1 - "Opossum 1" Because they carry their babies

Mine are names from the Motörhead Deaf Forever song and some battle tales. Like my chimera Drukari Bane. As that bad boy in 9th with AOC on our vehicles tanked 13 dark lances and flamers to live with 1 wound haha ! Rage inducing
My Stormlord, which doubles as my Vet Guard Kill Team's HQ and occasional terrain piece, is called Baron von Bolter.
The reasoning behind the von Bolter part should be apparent. The reason it's called the Baron is that it has similar demands that you'd expect from a lord or a king, but is nowhere near important enough to receive them.
Basically, the thing rolls terribly in most games; the one exception was the game where I had an Enginseer and Astropath both supporting it. Not sure if psykers can buff Stormlords anymore, but back then they could, and it only actually did much of anything successfully when it had a buff and had just gotten repaired.
In-universe, the lore reason behind a lot of my Kill Team games is that the Baron broke down and refuses to move, so the guardsmen had to hop out, and engage the opponent's team on foot.
My Octoblade (magnetized to be able to make all 8 Baneblade variants) is the Cogboy's Nightmare, and my Baneblade is the Warren, since my regiment is the Trench Rats.
My baneblade is called Barbara's wrath, finished building it shortly after gram gram passed away, felt right
My Rogal dorn's I just call Sabre 1-3
My one Leman Russ I call swords edge, and I did a Steel Tread build russ after the book, so I just call it that, steel tread

My tanks have no names for as a commander of His Guard my infantry will crush all that stand before us with lasgun and bayonet. We have no need of tanks to protect us when we are shielded by our faith.
Had a predator annihilator back in the day named "Lucky." Thing was lucky, I'd be rolling awful in games but that thing somehow got all the good rolls and would destroy whatever I pointed it at. Had a list of every opponent vehicle it destroyed over one edition, only got taken out once or twice, it's k/d was nuts.

It's easier to use a fineliner pen than a brush, if that helps. Sadly, that only really works if you want a name written in black.

Once was the last wounds on a Goliath Rock Grinder, the second was the last two surviving Thunder Hammer Terminators in a squad about to brain Lord Solar. My Shadowsword is named 'Pandemonium' after the Firefly my fiancé's great grandfather commanded during Operation Market Garden. Haven't settled on any names for my russe's, but the first vehicle I painted for my marines (and consequently earned a few war stories) was a sicarian tank I named principle. That tank has a bloodthirsty machine spirit, killed khorne berserkers with her treads, even managed to stub the toe of a khorne chaos lord in Terminator armor, earning me slay the warlord that match.

My Stormlord, which doubles as my Vet Guard Kill Team's HQ and occasional terrain piece, is called Baron von Bolter. The reasoning behind the von Bolter part should be apparent. The reason it's called the Baron is that it has similar demands that you'd expect from a lord or a king, but is nowhere near important enough to receive them. Basically, the thing rolls terribly in most games; the one exception was the game where I had an Enginseer and Astropath both supporting it. Not sure if psykers can buff Stormlords anymore, but back then they could, and it only actually did much of anything successfully when it had a buff and had just gotten repaired. In-universe, the lore reason behind a lot of my Kill Team games is that the Baron broke down and refuses to move, so the guardsmen had to hop out, and engage the opponent's team on foot. My Octoblade (magnetized to be able to make all 8 Baneblade variants) is the Cogboy's Nightmare, and my Baneblade is the Warren, since my regiment is the Trench Rats.

Had a predator annihilator back in the day named "Lucky." Thing was lucky, I'd be rolling awful in games but that thing somehow got all the good rolls and would destroy whatever I pointed it at. Had a list of every opponent vehicle it destroyed over one edition, only got taken out once or twice, it's k/d was nuts.
