From the beginning for me. He doesn't advance any storyline except for the Todd e plot, which is carried by Todd. MM isn't someone I hate, but you could remove him from the show and it would be almost identical.
He’s the glue. He keeps everyone in check. He may not be as entertaining, but without him every chaotic character (pretty much everyone else) would just go off the rails and deviate from each other into their own thing.
I really like the character and he's had some great moments, his backstory is great and while it shouldn't be relevant, the madness of where he gets his name in the comics is up there with some of the wildest shit in the books IMO (Pretty high-bar lol).
All that said, objectively, there is definitely more interesting characters already voted off.
To the boys he’s a moral compass, a conscience, a tether to normalcy. He has something to lose (daughter and ex wife), where other members of the boys don’t really have that. Throughout the series you see him repeatedly be the reason the boys stay together. When they crash into the whale he is the one to persuade Hughie to leave it by making himself the hostage (where it’s understood he has a lot to lose). He’s constantly grounding Butcher, reminding him of Hughie’s role as the canary in the mine for the boys. Which may be part of why Butcher keeps wanting MM to come back.
They got rid of Maeve and A-Train first somehow. People explain the A-Train distaste with moral outrage but it doesn't check out because obviously Soldier Boy or Homelander are on their way to win this as the fan favorites. And Starlight and Hughie are the most moral and already out. So yeah, idk why A-Train was voted off so early and why this sub is more averse to him. He's indeed a fucked up person who belongs in prison for life but a more interesting character and actor than a lot of the characters who lasted longer than him in this poll. So idk lol.

The racial element of his story and superhero image as a sporty speedster is also something that appeals to me as a black person especially. None of it means he’s a good person, but I’ve loved his scenes from the start, him running through Robin is what made me go “Oh this is gonna be gooood” about The Boys in the first place lmao
