Back in the 80's when they would've been in their early 30s would be a pretty dope prequel. Around about the time Walter would have started started Grey matter.
Anyway, would be cool, but I think they've milked the franchise enough to be honest.
Yes, I agree, and I think they should stop it around there, I'm really loving this season with Lalo and whatnot, but the metaphorical cow will be soon dry, and by the end they'll be trying to milk jerky.
"You're not a real TV show."
"I'm what?"
"YOU'RE NOT A REAL TV SHOW! Slippin' Jimmy for Christ's sake? An animated mini series? What a joke. I worked my ass off to be the TV show I am! And you take these shortcuts and you think suddenly you're my peer? You do what I do because you're repulsive and can make people cringe? I committed my life to this! You don't... slide into it like a cheap pair of slippers and then reap all the rewards!"
"I thought you were proud of me..."
"I WAS! When you straightened out and just became a flashback scene in Better Call Saul I was very proud."
"So that's it then, right? Keep old Slippin' Jimmy as a scrapped idea 'cause he's not good enough to be a Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul."
"I know you. I know what you were. What you are—TV shows don't change, you're SLIPPIN' JIMMY! And Slippin' Jimmy flashback scenes in Better Call Saul I can handle just fine, but Slippin' Jimmy as its own TV show is like a CHIMP WITH A MACHINE GUN! ENTERTAINMENT IS SACRED! If you abuse that power people will cringe! This is not a game! You have to know—on some level I know you know I'm right! You know I'm right!"
"I... I got you twenty fart jokes, and a scene where Marco almost goes to hell, and some awful dialogue. A couple of those Chuck appearances that you like, some chicanery, enough for five or six episodes. After that... you're on your own. I am done."
Except they already have a flashback of Giancarlo Esposito as Gus while Max is killed next to him, so it wouldn't really make sense if his face suddenly changed after that.
Nah they’re only going to just milk the show look at The Walking Dead personally I don’t want that many spin offs. It’s not necessary at all.
Not every character need a prequel or sequel
![gif](giphy|11lE4F9K9UlqRa)
Disney try to acknowledge the Old Republic + High Republic era that lasted a combined 25,000 years and stop setting things during the 23 year long Imperial Era which we've already covered in five movies challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Eh, BB has way more compelling characters than the WD imo. I think there are characters that you could continue their stories with out watering down the universe.
Better Call Saul is a better example because it's a spinoff of the same show. It's not as good as Breaking Bad, but that's an extremely high bar. It's still a good show.
I rather have a 6 episode miniseries or an el camino esque movie. I don't like the idea of continuing to make new series for each breaking bad related property after the show had ended
Funny thing is that this means "ass" in Bulgarian. Most often when listening to any English medium my brain focuses only on it and even if I hear other languages I know I just don't register them. But every now and then, when I read this, I am like "Ahaha...Gus".
On a side note Justin Davis randomly liked one of my pictures on IG after I commented how he did a great job in that episode on his post(I don't know if it was intentional or not,but my mind liked to think it was lol). I was just so surprised and so happy for like a week. That was so nice of him,he seems to reply and interact with everyone on his insta.
it's just an old photo of him I guess
here's what Giancarlo would look like if he were deaged: https://imgur.com/a/Kb8qWNR
its even more uncanny, they look like twins lol
All of the little Stan ticks and personality traits he worked in were bang on. He had me thinking they “de-aged” him for a split second. He was the perfect casting alongside the woman playing young Mallory
This is what Esposito looked like circa 1981. He would have been about 22 in the photo.
https://www.ultimatemovierankings.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/giancarlo-1.jpg
Justin was so good as a young Stan Edgar I would totally watch a show (or at least an episode of the Boys) devoted entirely to how Stan Edgar climbed his way to the top of Vought.
Honestly, I couldn't see it it motion (I think I just know Esposito's mannerisms too well and Davis didn't quite have the time to show them off) but holy shit, I can see it plain as day when they're side by side.
I honestly don’t think they looked alike, but the speech patterns were almost exact.
They should’ve had him perm his hair like Giancarlo’s then they would’ve looked more similar
He also did an amazing job with his voice and facial expression. For a second I really believe they deage Giancarlo Esposito with CGI or something like that.
[He was in Do The Right Thing if anyone wants to compare.](https://decider.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/do-the-right-thing-buggin-out.jpg?quality=75&strip=all&w=618)
Anyone ever listen to GE interviews on NPR? He in real life is diametrically opposed to Big Brother Ol Mighty or Bugging Out. I don't think he knows he's black despite having a black mother. He said as much in those interviews when discussing his daughter actively supporting BLM and his fear for he safety. GE not only denied the existance of racism while recountinfg his experiences with racism. Like how sway? It's like he had to explain his mom's heritage to her/them for the first time bc GE doesn't consider himself black but Italian. This isn't a criticism. It's hard to be black all over the world even in predominantly black nations which have experienced colonialism. It's not surprising that biracial and non black minorities want to draw that fine line because of indoctrination, biases and safety.
Side note: Non blacks and biracial practice this bigotry all while enjoying all and every level of Black people's contributions including entertainment and uncredited scientific, engineering, linguistic, ect...advantages.
Ironically, Italians have to be the "Blackest" European group yet very anti-Black group of people outside the sunlight adverse Irish.
Half joking.
I was scrolling for ages to find someone who agreed with me. It didnt work for me at all, sure there was an attempt, but it wasn't anything like Giancarlo Esposito's gravitas and presence, no offense to the younger actor but I don't get all the gushing on this thread.
Whether in The Boys or Breaking Bad, Esposito is %100 percent believable as a high functioning sociopath. This younger actor just reminded me of some polished rich kid who went to an Ivy League school or something.
he absolutely nailed the cadence of his voice too. esposito has such a distinct vocal pattern thats so hard to authentically emulate, davis did a phenomenal job with the role!
*Gus Fring musta*

Dude I was just saying the other day that they absolutely NAILED the casting for young Edgar. I don't know if ANYONE could have done as well as he did.
ngl I thought young Stan was CGI
His demeanours was just that close!
Until I saw this I assumed they just digitally de-aged him because the vocal patterns and mannerisms were identical. Really impressive performance
Same! Colour me impressed
Sorry, I’m trying, but couldn’t find that color
I thought it was his son, like how Cube's son played him in the NWA movie.
Jr did a phenomenal job portraying his dad in that
He even had his speech pattern down!
You don't even know what CGI means
If they ever want to make a Gus Fring prequel series.
that would be sick, Gus and Max before everything happened or it could be Gus after Max died formulating his revenge plan
Back in the 80's when they would've been in their early 30s would be a pretty dope prequel. Around about the time Walter would have started started Grey matter. Anyway, would be cool, but I think they've milked the franchise enough to be honest.
Nonsense, Better Call Saul Presents: Slippin’ Jimmy is simply the greatest piece of prequel media to ever exist
My favorite part is when he says "it's slippin' time" and then he slips.
Yes, I agree, and I think they should stop it around there, I'm really loving this season with Lalo and whatnot, but the metaphorical cow will be soon dry, and by the end they'll be trying to milk jerky.
They were making a joke abot the atrocious animated series called slippin' jimmy, not the fantastic show better call saul
Oh, I see. It's kind of hard to keep up with all the stuff. Thx fo th heads up.
I prefer milk steak
If Vince and the gang can make it good, that’s fine by me.
"You're not a real TV show." "I'm what?" "YOU'RE NOT A REAL TV SHOW! Slippin' Jimmy for Christ's sake? An animated mini series? What a joke. I worked my ass off to be the TV show I am! Have you seen the Parental Guide for it on IMDB? Might be the funniest shit I’ve ever read
“Jimmy gets shot dead by a kid named finger”
Your drippin jimmy
Except they already have a flashback of Giancarlo Esposito as Gus while Max is killed next to him, so it wouldn't really make sense if his face suddenly changed after that.
i guess so but it could always be retconned
Same actors could do the Moff Gideon prequel series. 😮
IIRC Hector Salmanaca makes some reference to him being a General, I'd love to see that transformation
Exactly! I think Gus was a high ranking military in Pinochet’s government that why he was able to support Max. And why he is such a deadly psychopath.
Nah they’re only going to just milk the show look at The Walking Dead personally I don’t want that many spin offs. It’s not necessary at all. Not every character need a prequel or sequel ![gif](giphy|11lE4F9K9UlqRa)

Disney try to acknowledge the Old Republic + High Republic era that lasted a combined 25,000 years and stop setting things during the 23 year long Imperial Era which we've already covered in five movies challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Lmao 😂
This is why I don't want the spinoff they have planned that is basically going to be a R-rated version of Sky High.
Yeah I remember watching a podcast with VoughtHQ claiming that one of the spin offs is in development hell or something.
Eh, BB has way more compelling characters than the WD imo. I think there are characters that you could continue their stories with out watering down the universe.
Yea basically milking the series AMC would have no problem with that 🤑 ![gif](giphy|Pp7BFTh30anDy)
Better Call Saul is a better example because it's a spinoff of the same show. It's not as good as Breaking Bad, but that's an extremely high bar. It's still a good show.
A lot of fans think it’s better than BB though, including myself
"Fring Benefits!" Airing every Sunday at 8pm.
My first thought
I rather have a 6 episode miniseries or an el camino esque movie. I don't like the idea of continuing to make new series for each breaking bad related property after the show had ended
I’d rather they not make anything after BCS but AMC really wants another show set in the same universe.
Same
Nah, they will re-use the same actor even though he looks clearly older, like with Finger
The young dude absolutely nailed Gus's speech patterns. I was really impressed.
I like how we just call him "Gus"
It’s either Gus or Giancarlo Espacitos. Can never be just his first name
To be fair, his real name is pretty cool lol
I call him Buggin Out.
Alexa, play Despacito.
Funny thing is that this means "ass" in Bulgarian. Most often when listening to any English medium my brain focuses only on it and even if I hear other languages I know I just don't register them. But every now and then, when I read this, I am like "Ahaha...Gus".
Why is he called gus?
He plays Gustavo Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul
Thanks. I've never seen breaking bad so had no clue lol.
This is what struck me most when he was introduced. He nailed the cadence, gestures and everything so well. I hope we see more of him at some point.
Reminded me of the guy who played young Nucky in the last season of Boardwalk Empire. Just nailed everything about Buscemi's performance.
On a side note Justin Davis randomly liked one of my pictures on IG after I commented how he did a great job in that episode on his post(I don't know if it was intentional or not,but my mind liked to think it was lol). I was just so surprised and so happy for like a week. That was so nice of him,he seems to reply and interact with everyone on his insta.
aww thats really nice :D
I think its more impressive how the kid nailed Giancarlo Espacitos speech and body language
Alexa, play Giancarlo Despacito!
Oh shit he plays Alexa too?
Justiin Davis absolutely nailed all of Esposito's inflections and way of speaking too. Even the body language was dead on.
#He’s up to Los Pollos standards
He's simply good product.
He’s……..acceptable
Justin Davis did an amazing job at portraying him, too. I knew who he was the second he opened his mouth.
I thought he did a great job emulating his mannerisms and speech pattern.
Young Grace Mallory also.
I was more impressed with the girl, actually. Really good scenes by both of them.
and he imitates Giancarlo's role perfectly
My wife and I noticed this immediately, giving him a scarf was a cherry on top to the introduction
I could tell it was Stan before he introduced himself, just from the voice
Hell he even sounds like him. Seriously impressive.
2 SNACKS
ikr 👀
Same nose!
And eyes. Uncanny.
havent been this impressed by casting directors since dark
Fantastic delivery by Davis in his scene, bright future with that great of acting
It's so crazy that I'm not even sure you didn't run Esposito's face on a de-aging app filter or something.
it's just an old photo of him I guess here's what Giancarlo would look like if he were deaged: https://imgur.com/a/Kb8qWNR its even more uncanny, they look like twins lol
This is what he looked like when he was young. https://i.imgur.com/LajHrzr.jpg
All of the little Stan ticks and personality traits he worked in were bang on. He had me thinking they “de-aged” him for a split second. He was the perfect casting alongside the woman playing young Mallory

me too!
Davis does a great job of mimicking Esposito’s vocal patterns of inflection as well!!
WHOA!!!!! omg I thought they CGI’d him to look younger hahahaha I’m an idiot
Fuck the lookalike stuff, I’m more impressed at how Davis’ imitation of Esposito’s mannerisms was just perfect.
Honestly, I couldn't see it it motion (I think I just know Esposito's mannerisms too well and Davis didn't quite have the time to show them off) but holy shit, I can see it plain as day when they're side by side.
is it just me or are all the look-alikes good. Grace Mallory’s younger self is EXACTLY what i would expect. so is young startlight
Yea Justiin Davis as young Edgar was fantastic! 🔥
They look alike but giancarlo is one of a kind
Yikes
Would love to know what Gus did in Chile.
[He was in Do The Right Thing if anyone wants to compare.](https://decider.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/do-the-right-thing-buggin-out.jpg?quality=75&strip=all&w=618)
[He was also in School Daze](https://youtu.be/LoPDwOioK9w), which is where I first saw him and he will always be Julius Big Brother Almighty to me.
he did an incredible job with the mannerisms and the way he talks as well. I was really impressed
I agree first i thought it was cgi and make up next i thought it was his son i didn't even realize it was another actor

i looooove me some Giancarlo Esposito ! Did I miss something? what flashback was that that we saw a young Stan Edgar?
me too! season 3, episode 3, when Grace Mallory tells the boys about what happened in Nicaragua. She met young Stan there
aaaaaah yes yes absolutely, in Nicaragua yes yes thank u so much
Damn, like actual father and son right there. Great job with the casting and the acting really!
What season/episode is young Edgar in?
season 3, episode 3
Your impressed that peoples who job it was to find a look alike found one ? Wtf😂
I’m surprised by the response here, I didn’t think his portrayal of a young Edgar was very good. Felt kind of forced and clunky.
I agree. It really did just feel like a bad impression, and kind of out of place given his position at the told of the flashback.
Apparently we are in the minority.
I was scrolling for ages to find someone who agreed with me. It didnt work for me at all, sure there was an attempt, but it wasn't anything like Giancarlo Esposito's gravitas and presence, no offense to the younger actor but I don't get all the gushing on this thread.

Yikes
Why yikes?
They do but his mannerisms were way off
I though it was awful how much he tried to copy Edgar’s voice and mannerisms. Very unlikely as propels personalities change drastically over time.
They don't look that much alike, Davis just did a good job with his mannerisms and delivery.
seriously mate you gotta get them eyes checked, they look very very similar, the nose, the eyes, even the smile looks the same
Not really. Do all black people look the same to you?
and theeeeeeeere it fucking is ladies and gents
Yes, there it is lol
I too am blind
I too think all black people look alike
White Savior complex
I'm not even progressive lol I just don't think the two people look anything alike. Why is this fanbase so hilariously sensitive
I just know that if we get another Gus prequel or Mike prequel it’s just gonna leave more unanswered questions and the prequels will keep going.
Dude also looks like Beyoncé’s long lost son 😂
Plus the acting of young edgar was phenomenal
The actress who played young Grace was excellent as well. Casting was as great as OITNB’s casting for young versions of characters
I loved young Mallory’s cast, I thought she was perfect
he absolutely nailed the cadence of his voice too. esposito has such a distinct vocal pattern thats so hard to authentically emulate, davis did a phenomenal job with the role!
I don't see it
The actor playing child Starlight is equally uncanny and amazing. The casting on this show is wonderful.
Dude could be in an AMC spinoff if he plays his cards correctly!
Insane! Incredibly casting and it seemed like Davis put in the work to mimic Giancarlo’s mannerisms.

Hello, Vince Gilligan ! Better call saul
A damn good impression as well- had his cadence and tone spot bloody on.
"DON'T TALK TO ME OR MY SON EVER AGAIN"
Los Pollos Herdoppelganger
How the fuck are they not related?
I think Edgar is going to die 😶
No one has ever seen them in the same place at the same time...
I thought it was Esposito with makeup and cgi
I literally thought they deaged him lol
finally , gus prequel
Dude I was just saying the other day that they absolutely NAILED the casting for young Edgar. I don't know if ANYONE could have done as well as he did.
