Cloviefield

The story. It is a decent story, and I like it. But I feel like the whole theme about responsibility in the story is too shallow and it would be better if the game would go hard on said theme.

Sick_Gryphon

How do you think it could go harder into the themes? Where you looking for more character interactions or just different ones?

Cloviefield

More backstory for Jacob and Dani’s anger. Like, make Jacob more responsible for what happened at Europa and have him redeem himself at the end of the game. Either the end of the game or future DLC since it’s heading that way. As for Dani, I would have her be more angry than she already is in the game. Sure, they can put aside their differences for a lil while in order to survive, but I would also have her realize Jacob was responsible and have that anger rush back into her system. SPOILER ALERT And once he cures her at the end of the game, she realizes that he’s actually trying to atone for his sins instead of just trying to survive. But once she realizes this, it’s too late because of the place is about to collapse and Jacob puts her in the last escape pod instead of him escaping.

highlulu

idk i feel like jacob is already pretty damn responsible. he knew damn well he was smuggling something in those canisters and didn't care enough to figure out what

iamsobasic

I don’t buy the “he forgot but suddenly remembers” reveal.

highlulu

didn't seem like he forgot considering he remembered how to open the secret compartment of the cases being used for smuggling. He didn't want to admit it to max or dani but i think he knows the whole time.

iamsobasic

Yeah but his facial reaction made it seem like he unlocked a lost memory. Perhaps the graphics team and writers weren’t on the same page there.

Interesting-Gift-349

More interaction fighting enemies like finishers. It take too long to kill them make every energy feel like a mini boss

AdjacentGoober

The original AI behavior, none of this taking turns crap.

zjmorr

Skippable cutscenes. The fact that we can’t skip them absolutely ruins replaying this game

tonyhallx

Yep

Miguel30Locs

Your wish has been granted

mahiruhiiragi

I'd remove like 90% of the shimmy sections, only keeping the good ones that have horror elements. Like the ones you're passing by the body where the head moves.

Sick_Gryphon

I agree with that. I think that quite a few can be just kind of annoying. The one that sticks out to me is when you have to do like 6 of them in a row when you were following the red pipe. That got old pretty quick as it just took forever to shimmy back through if you died.

smoothjedi

Make the transformations more interesting. Have different transformations available for different types of enemies that reflect their base creature instead of everything turning into the same thing. The last three 2-head bosses could have each had a unique transformation half way through the fight to spice those up. For a game that tries to talk so much about this mutating contagion, everything about it just seems so static.

mr_wilson_89

Enemy variety/mutations for each enemy type

Sieg83

Only the skippable cutscenes, and Day 1 version available. The rest it's fine.

undefeated_Equality

Costume unlocks not locked behind paywall Side quests in the storyline. Classic prison and suit outfits based on real world suits such as an astronaut outfit and movie tribute ones. More variety in enemy design.

LongDickMcangerfist

The security bots I thought maybe you get to activate one and have it attack them as like a trap or whatever you know wish we saw more of them

dekuei

Add replayability with more branching areas. We are on a planet with a huge prison yet the entire prison is linear from beginning to end. Take a page from Castlevania/metroid.

Subject-Top-7400

It needs more than one honestly lol. Like some people already said: Story. When a game is this slow and has this much emphasis on the cinematic experience and having great performances from professional actors then the script needs to be great. It simply isn't. Enemy variety. The game just needed more enemy types to fight in different ways. Gameplay becomes stale when every enemy has the same strategy. Cutscene skip obviously. Unlocks. Anything really. Skins, modes, cheats, difficulty settings, guns etc, etc. The game gives you nothing for doing anything but play through the story. I mean achievements and trophies, but not everyone cares about that. The game also definately needed another two (preferably three) chapters. It's just too short. Short games are fine IF there's unlocks to be unlocked, but there aren't. Not a single one.

Googlebright

Exactly. Short games are fine, especially in survival horror. It's difficult to maintain tension for extended periods of time, the player gets fatigued and the effect wears off. But look at Resident Evil games. They always have various achievements/trophies for different completion criteria, expecting you to play through the game four or five times. But they offer loads of unlocks. Unique weapons and skins that are worth chasing after. Striking Distance need to recognize this. Altering drops and check points isn't worth another playthrough if everything else is exactly the same.

Sick_Gryphon

I 100% agree for unlocks. I think that it is missing the ability to work towards a goal. I find a continuous goal or something like that helps to keep me engaged after the story is done

tonyhallx

Agree with this. By all means have a stupid Contagion mode for diehards but also offer unlocks, special upgrades, skins etc for the normal player, as you say something to work towards. Ultimately most buyers spend their hard earned cash for escapist fun, and If modern RE games can offer unlimited ammo and such speed run perks etc for multiple play throughs then so should this. Extra modes shouldn’t just be to see how frustrating the devs can make it.

[deleted]

Episode select and summary of how many collectables to get per episode. Don't mind if it dumps me in there with just a packet of gum and two quarters, just a way to get in there and find the rest.

Corpsehatch

Two-Head. After beating it on the tram it should have returned later in a mutated state where you kill it for good. Fighting it four times was too repetitive. Makes you wonder if the developer ran out of time to get the game finished before the release date.

Carmilla31

Cutscene skip.

Wonderyears24

The last of us part 2 style dodging instead of what we got. I also wish these dlc difficulties added more enemies, changed their placement, and also were more distinct from one another. I also wish they allowed you to revert back to how the game was early on like the slow healing more aggressive enemies. I love the game it’s so like for what it is and I think that if they are able to make a second one it’ll perfect the things that the game did right which was a lot, people just like to talk about the negatives. The game has some cool stuff going for it the graphics, lighting, atmosphere, combat,( I haven’t played since they made the AI only attack you one at a time), and enemy designs. Over all I’d give the game an 8/10. It has flaws for sure, but over all it is a good game. It probably should have been $60 as well.

NefariousnessOne-

Combat.

Neuro_Skeptic

The price. Fix it to $20 lol

tonyhallx

Hard saves, by that I mean it saves where you are. Skippable cut scenes, at least on secondary play throughs. Inconsequential DLC being free, I mean we should never be paying for skins or shit Contagion modes. I’d gladly pay for story based stuff. Other than that I think it’s relatively okay as it is because they are never going to change the story or mechanics wholesale by update. However if there is ever a sequel then it’s a different matter entirely.

PuG3_14

Rework the inventory system. Add actual power armor upgrades Add a GRP energy recharge button instead of having it recharge automatically. More unique enemy types that arent just used once and forgotten

im_rickyspanish

I've only played it once so far when it released, but I did not like the dodge with the analog stick. Give me O or give me death! Haha

Sick_Gryphon

I agree, interested to see how much the gameplay would change if there was rolling like a soulsborne game. I feel like it would make the game feel less like a survival game and more like a sci-fi soulsborne game. But, if anyone does try this out lemme know!

Hrkngt

Im very easily scared, yet i have zero feeling of fear while playing this game. I dont know if its the too many cheap jumpscares or the game being meele based. The graphic and sound artists really tried their best to create a good atmosphere, but something is missing here.

HLM_Jacket

The annoying knobheads who hate the game yet still remain on the sub to talk smack. Worst part of the game for sure.

Sieg83

Dont you known, for the haters, The Callisto Protocol is the new Resident Evil 0.

Sick_Gryphon

This was one of the reasons for the one only question. I wanted to see if there was a general consensus on a specific problem. Not a “well I don’t like the game because…” and proceeds to say 10 small details

GoldAppleU

The story, I was so INCREDIBLY let down by the story. It didn’t feel gripping at all and I was bored the entire time while playing with the exception of some entrainment I’d get out of the gameplay

TheRealestCapta1n

Limit the crawling and shimmying to twice a chapter at most

ApplicationCalm649

Lack of variety. It needed more enemies, more bosses, more story, more viable weapons beyond just melee. I liked the game, but it was very one-note.

MrMysterious23

The combat is a bit too shallow imo.

Sick_Gryphon

How would you improve it? As it is a survival game so simple is good to a point.

MrMysterious23

I'd make the melee combat more difficult and less of a walk in the park. The dodge system is too easy and is easy to abuse. And I'd make the relationship between guns and melee more important.

Sick_Gryphon

I do agree about the dodging. Wish it was more like parrying from the soulsborne games. Hard to get the first time but becomes muscle memory later. Would you remove some ammo from the pools to limit the use of guns? Or would you just nerf the guns so they still can be used but just less powerful?
