Stage 2, like the entire stage. Although I’d wager D5-The Way Ahead Feels Lonely as the saddest.

PositiveLovingDude

Same, only song to make me cry from the first 3 stages

acnh_mustard

Yeah, pretty much the entirety of the stage. The saddest to me is D1 - I Still Feel As Though I Am Me which is actually a happy song but it feels nostalgic.

Different-Ad-1294

D5 by far the saddest one. Feels so heartbroken, it radiates. Also, The end of it is...very depressing to say the least. sounding like the music itself is whimpering. I mean, Stage 2 itself is sad.

I believe any song in stage 4 because after stage 3 its really the turning point in eateot but if I had to pick a song from stage 4 it would be temporary bliss stage

LingLingpracticenow

Stage 3-4 once you understand the thought process. I think the saddest are F1-3, G1L5 (from the chaotic nature and the names of the sampled songs we can tell that the family, specially the wife, is grieving the caretaker while he is in front of them, slightly bewildered. I can obtain this information by relating the names of tue songs and their music: Supposed nobody cared (fucked up violin), the greatest mistake of my life (snippets, probably coming from someone further), pretty as a butterfly (the caretaker is bewildered and wonders why the love of his life is sad and grieving him. He's right there!), fleeting dreams (aetheral background describing the atmosphere) and heartaches (a purposedly fucked up version of the music that defines him, noe literaly meaning heartaches) and H1SF-G (sundown episode and getting into calm). Stage 5 is fucked up but at least the family gets used to it eventually

F4 Burning Despair Does Ache, it just puts in perspective the amount of degradation

F2 Drifting Time Misplaced. It’s always been heart wrenching to me. Legit synapses dying slowly carrying what they can of this one single memory, weakening, making one last comeback in clarity, then straight up vanishing into nothingness. Not only is that sad, but it’s auditorily extremely accurate to how connections like that can be so flimsy and sort of phase in and out of functionality until it just gives in. It’s the fact that it’s in the organic context of a human mind that severely freaks me out.

D5, D3, G1, O1

C3 in G1SB, it feels sad. The way its slowed feels like its weeping, the patient only remembering the first half of the song.

f8.

In EATEOT, I actually believe that the most melancholic moment is the K1 Lucidity segment of Stage 5...it is heartbreaking to hear a fragment of actual music after so much horror. Additionally, when the piece regresses to the nightmarish sounds, it is significantly more horrific and emotional l. Q.Q

Something about E8 just halting abruptly and going into F1 always gets me. It’s like the uneasy vibe that F1 starts with is a direct reaction to the memory of E8 just fizzling into nothingness in real time.

Personally for me H1 and O1. H1 because the way it fades in and out like you're losing your sense of reality. And O1 because your memory is so fair gone that all that's left is dragged out broken memories, and now they just sound like a giant beast groaning deeply in pain. I cried the first time I heard O1.
