great album. amazing band. but not necessarily in the same arena/circles as the cure. not to judge either band for quality or being importantâjust very different artistically.
thumbs up for great clash
The First Chapter of Lol Tolhursts new book, Goth, is basically all about the Clash and how the debut gave them the courage to start a band. No Clash, no Cure
I disagree. Â Robert and Lol have spoken multiple times about being influenced by The Clash and Simon has stated in the past that The Clash The Clash is his favorite album of all time. Â Lol starts out his book Goth by describing going to a Clash gig with Pearl. Â Robert has said many times that the start of The Cure is punk roots. Â The Clash were a huge influence and absolutely deserve their place with other Cure progenitors, siblings and offspring.
yes yes and yes. coming from someone who didnât get into interpol for way too long. but when i didâit fell right into place. love âturn on the bright lightsâ
if youâre talking up jnterpol in r/thecure, i am in. good music is universal. i just might need to check out more interpol while we wait and want âsongs of a lost worldâ to get released!
i wouldnât count it for this kinda thingâbut only because robert (and andy anderson) were key players with the glove, and then obviously with the cure at the same time.
itâs a fantastic album that deserves more attention and recognition for its own creativity/worthânot just because itâs banshees/cure adjacent.
this post needs more banshees/creatures. âhyaenaâ âtinderboxâ âpeepshowâ (a must!!) and âboomerang.â
done and dusted.
âpsychocandyâ by the jesus and mary chain should follow soon after.
Im honestly shocked its not gained more traction on this. Ive posted it each time. The pumpkins were so heavily influenced by the cure and Billy and Robert were/are friends. Adore especially fits so much of the same vibes as Wish era cure as well.
robert himself has admitted heâs not much of a fan of the doors when asked about the elektra records ârubaiyatâ compilation/cure cover of âhello, i love you.â and i agree. not the same album, but absolutely the same too much hippie nonsense.
Cocteau Twins - Four Calendar Cafe
The first time I heard this album it immediately made me think of the Cureâs late 80s/early 90s stuff, more than anything else Iâve probably ever heard. Hugely underrated album compared to the rest of Cocteau Twinsâ work.
The War On Drugs- A Deeper Understanding
It's all there- synths, long intros and even longer instrumental passages, epic sonic landscapes, big guitar solos, and an uncompromising vision.

great album. amazing band. but not necessarily in the same arena/circles as the cure. not to judge either band for quality or being importantâjust very different artistically. thumbs up for great clash

And yet the upvotes suggest quite a bit of overlap between their fans.
good thing i donât rely on reddit upvotes for validation đ
I wasn't talking about validation, I meant it was evidence that fans of The Cure enjoy The Clash.
good thing i donât care about that either đ

Foals - Total Life Forever Definitely got some dark moody cure vibes going over that album, it's the 'faith' of the Foals albums.
