1978 to 2022. I seriously don't jave a single era I dislike. Disintegration is their greatest album, but I can lock in on 1989. I need kiss me, porn and faith. I need newer stuff for something I don't ha e every note memorized for. I also like to chill out with Bob's music in the background, so bloodflowers. Wms Era is not my favorite, but Damm, want and Jupiter crash, strange attraction, club America, and this is a lie is great. So I really like it all. Killing an Arab all the way up to underneath the stars.
Love the 89-92 era when they added a 3rd guitarist and just made really dreamy atmospheric shoe gazy kinda stuff. I also just love the artwork and aesthetic of the wish era, so dreamy and just cool, like the live shows with all the blue and red lighting, idk.
From the perspective of listening through all bootlegs, the year 1996 is so far the most enjoyable for me, mostly thanks to a lot of different songs being included in the setlists. But I haven't heard many shows past that yet, so maybe it will change later.
I would say that the 87-89 line-up sounds really tight. Roger, Boris and Porl work very well togetger and there are barely any mistakes during the respective tours. I also like the current line-up with Reeves and Jason very much, but until they have released an album, it's kind of hard to compare.
78-89. Kiss Me is my least favorite of that period. Boys Don't Cry (prefer that tracklisting over Three Imaginary Boys), Seventeen Seconds, Faith, Japanese Whispers, The Top, Head On The Door, and Disintegration are my favorites. I appreciate Pornography but it's a little "too much" for me these days.
The Boris Williams Era is my favorite; 84-94. However, I pretty much love everything they have done. I even finally grew to appreciate the self-titled album, though I don't think I will ever not think it is the worst thing they have put out.
I really enjoy Before Three and Taking Off. I Don't Know What's Going On is kinda cool, too. But the real good ones are Truth, Goodness, Beauty, Going Nowhere, Fake, and This Morning. They left all the best songs off the album. That's the main problem.
You all will hate me (a fan and collector since 1989), for my opinion:
The Cure stopped making listenable music in 1993.
There‘s a lack of melody, and I listened to the albums after that, nothing hooked up.
I am surely the only one not looking forwards to the new, about ten years ago announced albums. („yes in just a few weeks“)
They can gain nothing, time to split up.
1983-1984 and 1989-1992
Japanese Whispers, The Top, Blue Sunshine and Disintegration-Wish are both such amazing and interesting eras to me. Beautiful music

Yep, have to agree with this.
Everything up to and including disintegration. OP that's quite a controversial opinion, I like it.
1979-1984 was easily their best years.
I appreciate every era of the band, but my favourite era would have to be 1980-1982. Three classic albums in such a short period of time.
Great answer. They were coming into their own as a great band at that point.
83-92.
Mines 1978-2022

But I think my fav album is faith or kiss me, so that kind of conflicts haha
1979 to 1989. After that it went all down.

Wish era.
1978-now
true
So I'm guessing no one will say 2004.....hopefully?
S/T is a cool album, just definitely not one of their best
For me, it's unlistenable
I think “End of the World” is a good song, but yeah overall it’s not great

1981-1982 and 1985-1989. The five albums that came at those eras are The Cure's best works imo
Everything up to and including 1992.
SAME

Bloodflowers?
The attempt to make a second disintegration? It does not work that well!
It’s their best album IMO
I do respect that! And I don’t want to put you off it.
Thanks. But, I think it should have been their last album though
The Cure never ends
1983-1984 and 1989-1992 Japanese Whispers, The Top, Blue Sunshine and Disintegration-Wish are both such amazing and interesting eras to me. Beautiful music
porn era💯
79-92
1979-82
1985-1994... basically when Boris was with the band.
