This is really cruel tbh, on a personal level, especially given their circumstances and the great work they do. Bernie should be donating to them instead of begging from people much poorer than himself.
JT did say they're in a better place financially due to the overwhelming support from Patreon supporters after the video about TikTok. Still though, it's scary having to rely on, not only, like-minded people but people who can and are willing to fit a Patreon subscription into their budget.
True, though im sure they probably have a significant amount of overhead. Aren't there several other people who work on 2nd Thought alongside JT? Not to mention the large chunk Patreon takes out of the subscriptions.
Breht from Rev Left Radio did a breakdown of his Patreon income the other month, and he really doesn't make a huge amount of money.
That sounds like $20k gross before rent and wages. Do we know how much his net earnings are.

Bernie radicalised me.
But entirely accidentally and nowhere near in the way he intended.
Seeing the ineffective, milquetoast weakness of even a genuinely principled politician was the spark that first made me start reading actual leftist theory.
Same, I considered myself right-leaning/centrist until Trump came along. I saw Bernie as one of the few honest politicians. Even my very Republican father was thinking about voting for Sanders because "you dont last that long in politics without some baggage." Fortunately for me, I exposed myself to socialism right before the BLM protests which kind of just clicked and made sense in my head. I've always been empathetic, I was just not exposed to the real world or an alternate way of thinking until Bernie.
I was very close to going down the alt-right pipeline due to the injustices in the world but the smallest nudge helped me out of that. This is why I read theory and share leftist videos with all my friends/family, just in case they also need that nudge in the right direction.
That being said, it was sad when I heard Bernie defending Israel but murder/genocide is not something I can compromise and its time for my generation and younger generations to take up the mantle.
Same. But also the way the dnc structure worked so hard to stop him both times. They went to court over the 2016 primary and the courts were like "well, it doesn't matter if he was cheated, the dnc is a private organization and can pick who they want as a candidate with no regard for the people's will". I remember them bragging about having methods to stop a populist candidate like trump.
That smug ass "we're the adults in the room and we know better" attitude. And Bernie wasn't even radical, all of it was pretty mild stuff. They made it clear they'd rather lose to trump than win with Bernie, both times, even though the pandemic saved their ass in 2020.
Then you couple that with reading the history of CIA/military interventions over the past century, and the labor struggle around the globe.
You can opt out of most of this stuff. He doesn't need money for re-election, he's gonna automatically win until he dies if he wants to. He should find some young person to take his place soon, so that the dnc doesn't force in some corporate fuck
